The front of that chassis is hella exposed, and you have a ton of empty space. You'll probably get gutripped to death with no wedge, too

You'll wanna upgrade that ATI card, it's ancient and useless compared to the rest of your PC. Hell, your CPU's integrated graphics are probably better than it.

There's money in this game if the devs have the initiative and drive to learn and do this right. kek 2865
Contests / Re: BOTM June 2016« on: May 27, 2016, 12:38:41 PM »not really, steam screenshots are a pain to find on your hard drive, and you cant pose bots in the botlab, and the in-game camera angles don't give you much freedom, and the camera in the botlab sometimes glitchesI think there's been enough cool looking bots made that an RA3 BOTM could be serviceable.Only problem is, they'd have to all be art bots (if that even is a problem at all.) Plus, with the new bot lab, isn't it harder to make splashes? 2866
Discussion / Re: Robot Arena 3« on: May 27, 2016, 10:54:40 AM »Edit: Guys, we have feedback and bug report threads that aren't getting any posts. The least we can do is organize our thoughts and hope that these issues can be worked on, instead of just being miserable pricks.This. RA3 is the closest we're gonna get to a new robot combat game for a long while, so we should try and help the devs recover form this disaster as much as possible. 2867

It didn't get counted out either, despite not being able to moveYeah I couldn't make anything decent enough to see and the AI flippers weren't strong enough either. Flex Top arena obviously has OOTAs though so they're in the game.It doesn't register though. My opponent fell down there so I chased after it once the match didn't end. You can drive around down there. It's a pool of water. There's also a nice waterfall effect where the crowd used to be. 2868

Discussion / Re: Robot Arena 3« on: May 26, 2016, 07:55:24 PM »I refunded the game m8. I actually remember some seriously wonky physics, but that was to do with components touching the floor instead of anything else.My game has been much more stable than RA2 to be fair. I daisy-chained 2 sets of 3 ztecs together and loaded 3 of the biggest discs onto each, filled each AP with irons and it was totally fine. Worst Ive had is stuff flying away when it got caught beneath an array of 10ish chainsaw hammers on DDTs, but that was kinda expected. 2872

You can probably do with 1 wedge, your bot is way too narrow to benefit from 2. Maybe consider widening the bot?
Also I think razors were nerfed to oblivion in dsl2.2 (though I may be getting confused with IF). Maybe replace them with beaters or teeth or something? 2875

OK, I got a bot to work quite well with skid steering and 4 z-tecs. I think the trick is to keep the z-tecs relatively far apart and they must be TOTALLY level, else some wheels won't touch the ground, and you have no leeway like you had in RA2.

Discussion / Re: RA3 Analysis (has no content yet)« on: May 26, 2016, 02:28:54 PM »
OK, so with my limited playtime here are the main things I've come up with:
Pros: Being able to move, rotate components after we've added them is pretty sweet As above with chassis points, I actually think the chassis layer stuff is very well done, after I had some trouble with it initially. Deleting 1 component deletes all the components attached to that component I played 1 online match and as the host it worked well, except player 2 not loading in properly. But I assume that'll be fixed. The bot exchange is pretty dope The actual battling physics is better than RA2 I think Neutral: Floating components. It should probably be a big con but I enjoy the freedom it gives, especially considering you're locked to a grid Cons: No rotation lock, so it's hard to get components to line up properly Same as above for vertical height adjustment All component placement is locked to a grid until after placement UI is very poor all around, but especially in the botlab. Consider even copying RA2's UI scheme, the current has very little info, and as such it's impossible to know how many batteries you need, for example Motors in general are too weak Drive motors impart too much torque on the chassis, and for some reason it feels like components don't affect this, so it's really easy to make a bot that cant move anywhere because it just backflips Can't move any motors in the botlab The AI is abysmal, most of the time they immobilize themselves The damage points in battle are too large and don't mean much, overall there's hardly any destructive feeling in battles, there needs to be more feedback to the player There's a ton more but I can't be arsed to remember it all right now, may or may not update this list of cons. 2879

I figure this could help Octopus Tree with fixing the bugs, which I assume they're gonna be busy with. Please use the following format:
Bug Name: Game Version: (Steam > Properties > Local Files > Current Content BuildID) Reported On: (Date) Environment: Your computer's hardware specs (if applicable) and operating system Bug Description: Steps to Reproduce Bug: Expected Behavior: Actual Behavior: Note that this is for bugs, not for complaints about gameplay or design choices etc. 2880

Hopefully the dev team can turn it around, although I doubt it. On that note, I've submitted my refund request. remember guys, over 2 hours gametime and you can't refund. I'll consider repurchasing if/when the game gets fixed. |
