A cool idea would be to make it so people would have to make a hybrid between to random bot types, then you would have to be creative with some of the combos.
That's pretty nifty.
Ye it is, but doesn't really work in IRL. Would be a great idea for a DSL-S tournament

Is a flipper a weaponless gutripper?

On-topic, cool idea for a tournament, the bot types should 100% be randomly distributed. I think whoever gets flipper will win, assuming flipper ins't given to a total n00b.

Thanks for the heads up, and welcome to GTM :)

I wouldn't listen to FBI, people here are usually pretty level headed, aside from a few noobs who like to cause drama amongst themselves. You don't need to walk on eggshells.

If you're looking to improve your bots, opening a showcase is the way to go. Either way, welcome to gtm :)

Its worth my life to enter. I spent hours on my bot.
PLease just slip it in the brackets. I would be happy to the googelplex'th power. :bigsmile: :smile:
It's not going to happen. Your messages and posts are just annoying him instead of convincing him. Just wait for the next tournament dude.

Ah, the game uses DirectPlay :/. One one hand - COM is a pain. On the other, I at least don't have to reverse engineer the wire format.

It also does not work under Wine:

Code: [Select]
fixme:dpnet:IDirectPlay8PeerImpl_SetPeerInfo (0xfe0f20)->(0x33f3d4,(nil),(nil),80000000) Semi-stub.
fixme:dpnet:IDirectPlay8PeerImpl_Host (0xfe0f20)->(0x33f3ec,0x72e0b4,1,(nil),(nil),(nil),0): stub

Looks like I'll have to resuscitate the ol' Windows laptop I have somewhere...
So you're saying that the prognosis isn't good? What are the chances that you can make the online more playable?

Looks alright. I would be nice to have the front skirts be further apart and further forward tho. I took this example from Craaig's showcase, as he's the expert on DSL-S VS. This bot was made in DSL 2.1 but i think you can learn a lot from it:

VS's main problem is usually stability. Notice how it's front supports are wide and quite far forward, making the VS very stable. This is helped by having the chassis short and very wide. Having the drive motors as far apart as you can get them is nice too, it helps with turning.

Your weapon choice isn't bad. VS usually want a large disc/bar, with a couple of heavy, high HP weapons. Again, this helps with stability, as it's harder to knock off high HP weapons, and VSs really struggle when one of the weapons on their disc/bar is removed.

Signups are closed! For the bots in black in the OP, I'll look at them tonight or tomorrow, and if there are any issues I'll give you a week to fix them.

on the edge of playable. Still very laggy. I imagine LW DSL IRL fights where neither bots are extenderbots would be playable, just.

31 entries, 16 hours of signups left

1556
Yeah I don't think anyone is going to enter a tournament where the bots aren't AI controlled

So when is the next series starting and are signups open and is it still stock

You can sign-up for series 3, it's anything under 800kgs

2.5 is however still being edited. They're apparently being uploaded whenever he completes an episode
I'm guessing that there are restrictions as to how good your bot can be, I remember hearing about how your bot must be beatable by a LW or something
Are multibots allowed?

Thanks for the advice, I give then all a go.
Very odd, I've never come across this. Are you playing fullscreen? What resolution is your monitor?

I haven't check, but yes I am playing at full screen with the resolution in the 1000x 1000ish area.
It would be useful to know your precise screen resolution. Is it 1920x1080 (1080p)? Let us know if anything worked for you.

Use print screen button and then go to paint and press paste.. or use screenshot button on your screen recorder!
Please stop trying to give advice. Bad advice is worse than no advice.
