But if they do enter, then they bump another entry out of the bracket. I - at the risk of being decapitated - REALLY don't want Urjak stretching the IRL rules as far as he can, and pushing a much better "IRL" entry out of the brackets. I think a better way of making this work would be that a seed can claim their spot in only one of the four brackets. That would give the unseeded machines a chance to battle as well.

And stop complaining about Urjak, just because two of his bots was unrealistic doesn't mean you get to bitch and moan about it. I'll modify the rules a little to help, but seriously guys.
FTFY You find very few effective FBS IRL.

EASY FIX TO YOU GUYS BAWWING BECAUSE URJAK IS JUST BETTER THAN YOU : Build something more efficient than him. Problem solved.

Or is you so-loved IRL style just necessarily unefficient ?

Better is a purely subjective viewpoint. In terms of IRL building, I would say he was quite crap. =P

IRL building doesn't necessarily have to be inefficient (lrn2semantics), although if a bot looks like it could be built IRL, and is skinned well, then it's more likely to go down in a tournament such as this one.

His LW and SHW, especially the latter, were perfectly IRL. If he was losing, I'm sure you wouldn't be complaining.

I think the voting system idea should be implemented to keep super unrealistic bots out

No, I'll put a much tighter grip on IRL this time.

Why no Trov Glitch? I see no reason against it. I use it on my cool drum designs D:

Take Urjak. He won many fights by being not really very realistic, and now he gets a reserved place.

I'd agree with the downsides of the seeding system. For one thing, 12 out of 20 seems too many, in my view. Plus, I would much rather see dragonsteincole's machines in the tournament than Urjak's barely realistic stuff, but Urjak's "seeding" as a result of winning more matches, means he would gain automatic entry. I don't think that's fair, personally.

Jesus. If it means that much to you guys I won't enter, even though in the last tournament all my bots were perfectly IRL realistic with the exception of the HW's invincible bottom armor (which I already apologized for). I am not sure exactly why you guys are focusing on me, as I saw plenty of other bots that were as "unIRLlisitc" as mine supposedly were.
Any comments would be appreciated. :D

Personally I think your bots are fine - FSS push it a little, I mean maybe I should be allowed to enter the Fever's if they're fully IRL - and there were worse offenders.

Will be entering, if only to try and change that spectacularly rubbish win-loss record I have.

Incoming thoughts:
I see no reason as to why Urjak is being brought up as a scapegoat for 'unrealistic' designs. The vast majority of his BB bots are in the spirit of IRL, if a little focused on trying to maximise component efficiency, but are more in keeping with American bots, rather than the 'British/Robt Wars' style most of the members grew up with.

Allowing cheatbot2 parts is a good idea if controlled. A good bot can be made to look better with clever use of existing real parts, butas with all these things it's going to be a task to stop things from being exploited.

Finally, what I would like to see most from this tournament, or Frieezez in particular, is better organisation, and patience. There's no reason why there should always be a issue with enties unless you're rushing to he to the actual fights. It looks shoddy when it gets so disorganised people are arguing about who deserves what space depending on when they sent their bot. Take your time with the entries, after 4 of these tournaments it shouldnt be a problem like it has been.

Still, looking forward to it. ;)

Made a LW and a MW, all I need to build now is a HW and a SHW.
BTW this whole seeding system kinda through me off and I think you should just change it back to normal like in B4ttlebots IMO but I'm okay with the byes evan if it means having to fight one more competitor.

Granted, there were plenty other unIRL bots, such as Top Comment, but unfortunately you were the first guy that popped up in my head. It's not a personal attack on you, I was just using your entries as an example of some of the stuff that can be entered. Shark, for instance, might be technically an IRL design, but I've never seen any shell spinner with weapons such as that one. The comments were explaining how the seeding system seems a little flawed, rather than trying to take shots against your entries, but they weren't exactly - and I know I'll get some backlash for saying this - within the spirit of the tournament, in my view. Cue Naryar going on one of his tirades about efficiency and ballasts and empty space and suchlike. From what I've seen, in this sort of tournament, if you can manage to place aesthetics first, give efficiency a lower priority, and still build a decent machine, then everybody has fun.

I'll still try and get stuff in, though. Hopefully signups won't open on Sunday night, I'll have to wait until Wednesday to actually enter something.
