I will start draws shortly for the order in which robots enter the bushido boss gauntlet and the order of fights within the wotw heats, which can be viewed here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1226DDxzl8ybzJQNP2QeJyhWngayzN6wlmbc7wpmy9iI/edit?usp=drive_link
as usual, once I've finished all the AI, for robots whose builder sent no AI for, I will offer to send their builders the AI I wrote for them

so, the events' formats will now be as follows due to not filling up:
survival of the fittest (4 robots): qualifying 1v1s and the first round 3 way rumbles will be skipped, as we go straight to the 4 way rumble that restarts w/ 3 robots and then again w/ 2
double demolition (0 teams, 0 robots): cancelled, what do you want me to do w/ an event that literally has 0 entries?
samurai's academy (8 robots): same format, just shrunk down to 2 round robin heats of 4 w/ the top 2 from each progressing to a single elimination bracket where the first round is heat winners v heat runners up, two robots from the same builder cannot be drawn into the same heat
bushido boss (5 robots): same format, just shrunk down to 4 fights where the winner stays onto the next one until one robot remains, which will advance to battle Rising Sun in the boss battle
birth of the sport (6 robots): round robin heats will now consist of 3 robots and there will be 2, the winners of each battle 1v1 in the final
war of the weapons (4 spinners, 4 flippers, 4 axes, 2 rammers, 4 everything else): same format, except heat d for rammers will now be a single 1v1 fight

Signups are now closed.  Thank you to everyone who entered, due to events not filling I will adjust the formats of the events which I will announce soon.  Robots invited to samurai elite that have not yet been confirmed have until the 20th to be confirmed or they will lose their place in it.

The time that signups close tomorrow will be either when I'm back at my aunt's after the exam or when I'm back home afterwards.  Any robots that have been sent but not checked on the day will be checked before I close signups, although if your robot is found to be illegal then you've lost your last chance to get in.
bushido boss is now up to 4/8
bots is now up to 6/16

Active Tournaments / HFT: Rebooted
« Last post by helloface on June 05, 2025, 12:21:05 AM »
the longest running series on gtm has returned....

hft rebooted  heck

Format
- DSL IRL 2.6
- HW (800)
- 16 robot double-elimination minimum
- Qualifiers or bracket expansion if needed (there will be no free byes)
- Up to 4 entries per builder (1 guaranteed, up to 3 reserves)
- Judging will be split between Damage (5), Aggression (5), Control (3), and Style (2)
     - Damage based on functional damage inflicted, not superficial or game score
     - Aggression based on initiating contact deliberately
     - Control based on ability to steer and direct towards the opponent
     - Style based on design originality and match entertainment

Rules
- No flamethrowers, cheatbot2, or custom components
- Reskinned components fine, as long as they do not conflict with others
- BFE allowed as long as it is not used solely for a competitive advantage
- If you do not provide AI, a generic AI will be provided for you
     - I also reserve the right to tell you to do it yourself
- Havok explosion may result in match restart or disqualification
     - If the havok does not significantly impact the match, or if the havok explosion only affects the bot responsible for the havok explosion (e.g. a robot which suffers critical damage flipping over due to its own part loss)
- Multibots allowed, but may require an accompanying reserve in the event that a qualifying rumble takes place
- No invincible armor

Disclaimers
- Entries preferably to be sent via the forum’s messenger with the subject line “HFTR”, but can be sent through Discord as long as I confirm that I've received it
- The rules are deliberately unrestrictive to encourage creativity, but IRL rules will be reasonably scrutinized
- Egregious weapon spam, stacking, or other strategies used to gain an unfair competitive advantage may result in builder disqualification
- Deadline is Wednesday, August 16th.
