Discussion / Re: Will we ever get to see BBEANS again?
« on: July 22, 2016, 02:56:22 PM »
I really don't see any tournament having the hype or prestige that BBEANS did.

Click did say he was planning on having the next BBEANS tournament be DSL 2.2. This was right when 2.2 released, so things might have changed since then.

Geice, that thing is terrifying.

How good is it in testing?
Kills most things it gets under, gets raped by heavy hs. Not much I can do about that though.

A pair of RAD undercutters would be dope if I can get weight for them.
Every time I try to build one of these things, I always end up with a single-wedge design that doesn't look as cool as I'd hoped. I could make it double-wedged, but it would usually underperform. :<

The DDT protectors look hella cool
Yeah, sidehammers kinda seem like one of those single wedge bot types. Probably has something to do with Vice and Fragbeetle way back having single wedges, though they do seem better than your standard double wedge.
Why are you trying to delete your showcase??
Dunno, just saw that delete button was gone from the side after one of the fourm updates. Tried it on my IF showcase first to make sure it wouldn't delete this one.

Apparently you cant kill your own showcases anymore.

oh and here's a bot i made.

i know there's a lot of weight on the wedges, but they would've sucked ass anyways with the zteks on snappers and only 2wd. might rebuild it it with 4wd and a static vs setup if i ever remember. everything else is standard for a stock hw.

looks too slow and probably too bouncy with maces.

i would space your weapons out more and find a way to get more drive and armor. if you're going to mount your weapon motors on a snapper then i would mount the snapper horizontal so it doesn't bounce when it spins.

What kind of terminal cancer did GTM get infected with while I was gone? I just cringed while logging back in.
me
Figures. Also what is a WenXiangLee and why is it here?

Ok...
So the logical step is figuring out how to kill it.
Wait wat?

Hax mode and BFE are not considered to be a part of the standard stock glitches and are almost always banned. Every other glitch is usually allowed (effe, stacking, snapper loading, etc)

995
I'm not really a fan of the bots you're entering in this, imo they look way too tryhard for host entries. If recent tournaments are anything to go by, then the average building level is probably going to be pretty low in comparison.

Wedges are better when you only use the single center attachment point like this

The extender setup could be cleaner, just use multiple baseplate anchors instead of a single anchor with a ton of extenders.

I feel it's a little on the slow side for a shw FS.

Not really a fan of the battery setup, not sure if it has enough electotal to spin the whole fight.

Overall it looks pretty decent. definitely an improvement over the last FS.

do you have 3 or 6 AI bots per team? just wondering because it doesn't look like you have the ui from v2 or v3 and went to straight to v4

998
if it's still not spinning up instantly then it might be because you don't have a range parameter. try a line like this:

    list.append(("Mega Gator","Omni",{'invertible':True,'range':99,'topspeed':99,'turnspeed':3,'throttle':130,'weapons':(0,)}))

also use a button instead of a switch. with a button the ai will just keep turning it on and off.

999
It might not spin up as you haven't given it a weapons parameter. Go look at another AI line and compare.
Thought the weapons parameter was only required for it to stop attacking once a certain part ID breaks, how would I make it keep attacking even if every weapon breaks?
set it to 0, the chassis

Round 2 of the winners bracket and round 1 of the losers bracket are up now.

I've been thinking, since there's technically only 7 entrants, I'm probably just going to release the AI at the end of the tournament. Don't though, I'll find something to give to the 1st place winner and runner-up (or third place if I somehow manage to make the finals) in it's place.
