This isn't my Beat The Clock entry, but I'm thinking maybe it should've been. It's a MW version of Discord (which I've also upgraded). It will be appearing in Sword of Glory, however.

The easiest way to make a flipper in DSL is to put three Storm front-hinge burst motors next to each other (four, if you're feeling REALLY crazy) and mount some kind of flipper panel on each of them. 120cm skirts are a good choice for DSL-S, for IRL I like to go with 40x120 armour panels. Wire the burst motors to fire at the same time, put a wedge on the front, and boom, you can throw superheavyweights halfway across the standard tournament arena. They eat up battery like nobody's business, but generally speaking your opponent will be OOTA before it becomes any kind of concern.

Just a heads-up, I was playing around with the IRL Armor pack and noticed that the 40x60 Titanium Plate (in any colour) can't be selected. If you try and select it, it just closes the selection menu. The standard 40x60 Titanium Plate can be selected just fine, it's just the coloured ones that don't work.

why oh why oh why did I submit that crappy first draft of Vertigo instead of waiting until I'd refined it It still won but that's not a win I can be proud of

I'm not familiar with the original BattleBots, but I am aware that Biohazard is basically the most famous combat robot of all time. If Biohazard really is returning, then I'd be surprised if it's the exact same design as before, as the old one looks pretty dated by now. But an upgraded version would be great to see.

You don't see many nuisance bots these days. This is the same with forklift wedges.
It looks cool. Its wedge effectiveness I might question though.
The forks aren't meant as wedges tbh, they're for stability purposes to stop the thing tipping over every time it drives forward. They backfire when it's upside-down though. My Beat the Clock entry (which I haven't showcased yet) also has forklifts for stability.

I feel like I'm making and upgrading robots at too fast a rate and not getting to showcase them all. I suppose there's no such thing as "too fast a rate", though; practice makes perfect, after all. Here's a little nuisancebot I made. If there are any HW competitions in the future that allow multibots, I can enter this alongside Deathstalker or another CW (alternately, I can enter this alongside a MW into CW tourneys). You can't see it, but there's a medium gas canister hidden under the battery and behind the control board.

Bloody hell, that was close! I wish I'd made the axe a bit longer, but at least I moved the axe from its original upright resting position, otherwise it would have been SCREWED when it tipped over. Still, two spinners faced, two spinners defeated, this is boding quite well for GTMRW :D
- Hypershocked: Put up an excellent fight against Blizzard, the armour on the sides did an amazing job of soaking up the blade's attacks.
- Spinneroo, Mate: Unlucky to have been drawn against a bot that countered it perfectly, deserves another chance.

I tried putting other batteries on top of the NPCs but I don't have enough room. I know the battery setup is inefficient but that's the only way I could fit enough batteries in without stacking. I'll keep working on it. Maybe I'll completely rebuild the chassis to be a bit taller, so I do have room.

As promised, here is my first definite Sword of Glory entry. Like Discord (and Vertigo, as a matter of fact), it's a completely rebuilt version of a robot I first built in RWRA2. The colour scheme (especially the flipper) is subject to change.

I'll see if I can come up with something. Does the middle of the bot spin, or is it open?
There's a gap between the bottom disc and the 'clock' disc, yes.
Well, this gave me an idea... I might not do so badly after all...

I think I can counter Blackjack though.
Well, now I'm gonna have to put my money where my mouth is...

Wow, that looks awesome as hell! I love the lifting arm in particular, it really has a scorpion-like feel to it. Kinda reminds me of the Series 5 version of Wild Thing. Looking forward to seeing it in action!

Thinking about entering, but I can't really build something decent enough.
This is my concern as well. I can enter something, but I doubt it'd be capable of even beating The Clock at all, let alone faster than anyone else. I have plenty of time, though...

Making undercutters seems to be a trend at the moment so I figured I'd give it a go. Hopefully it looks a little more interesting than my other DSL bots. Debating whether this or Dentophobia should be one of my Sword of Glory HW entries. Dentophobia seems to deal more damage, but also seems to lose its teeth (and stability) more quickly. I know what my other entry is going to be, though. I'll show that off tomorrow

Read about it, nice to see it back but they surely aren't giving people any time. Wish they'd just announce this stuff half a year earlier and then do it in a good time instead of in winter again(I guess they want to broadcast the series at the same time every year, however I'm surprised that they haven't learned about the cold issues in winter)
If they were airing it in July again, I don't think they'd be filming it in December. I think this is a bit of a mis-step on their part. I'm sure they at least know by now about how the cold affects the machines, whether they'll actually do something about it (like installing a heating system, esp. in the arena itself) is another mater entirely.

Checking just to be safe: the IRL Extenders pack is legal, so I'm assuming the IRL Armor pack is legal as well?

I assume this is meant to be IRL? If so, those thin metal sheets are not appropriate as flippers.
I did wonder. I'll have to work on that, then. All my other flipper bots use thin sheets as well. I think the flipper sections might actually end up being lighter, so it's worth making the switch for that reason as well.

Based on feedback from this topic, and my own ideas, I've given Double Jeopardy an overhaul: - Moved the skirt hinges back and replaced the wedges with steel wedgelets
- Unstacked the ant batteries
- Switched from medium to large Colsons and raised the drive motors to compensate
- Brand-new custom skin that looks much nicer
New weight: 798.4kg.

So, tournament debut, let's see how I did... ...wow, I don't think that could've gone any better. I knew it was gonna come down to what broke first, Termite's armour or my weapon, and luckily for me the axe held out.
Blizzard officially scares me now. Duke as well, to a lesser extent. I think I can counter Blackjack though. My votes go to: - Rambulance: It controlled the fight and most likely would've won under an IRL judging system, but sadly RA2 doesn't work like that. Deserves a second chance.
- Arachnida: Good weaponry, already proved itself in the qualifier melee, but unlucky to have been OOTA'd so quickly.
- Battle Breaker: This isn't toadying, I honestly thought it was putting up a great fight against a powerful opponent, right up until its wheel came off.
- Termite: Yes, really. Based on the amount of damage it racked up, it would have stood a great chance against most other robots in the tournament, it was just unlucky to have been drawn against a bot that countered it perfectly (me :P )
