HW tournament, multibots and modular bots permitted... seems like the perfect opportunity to test Venom, and Deathstalker's upgraded lifter config. Or should I just build a new HW? I think entering the same bot to too many things is frowned upon here.

Wow, when you said everyone, you meant everyone... I can't believe my first loss on GTM was to a chicken. Pretty good chicken though, it has to be said. Hopefully I'll have better luck against Arachnida... and in the final 4, of course :P Did you wire Battle Breaker's weapon using a switch? Because it sounded like it was rapidly turning on and off, which is apparently what will happen if you wire an AI bot's spinning weapon using a switch. You're supposed to use buttons instead. Still carved Squawk up pretty nicely though. The Great Suisse battle gave me uncomfortable flashbacks to Vertigo v Torrenta 2 from Redditbots >.> EDIT: And they still have two more fights to go... I hope the rest of them aren't that boring :P What did Sun Ray get stuck on at the end of its match? It looked like it just stopped moving for no reason.

Working on a little something for Toreo! and figured I might as well show it off. Might drop the armour down and do something with the spare weight but not sure what yet. I also want to skin it and add some more flame decals because aesthetic. UPDATE: I realized it was severely under-amped, so I dropped the armour down to 10mm Aluminium and changed the batteries to 4 stacked Energizers. That completely fixed the speed and manoeuvrability problems, and the weapon spins a lot faster too, but now it seems to cause Havoc explosions quite a lot. Which is a problem. Damage output is even more insane, though.

I don't know how I'm going to fare against Wen's bot, with all those blades. Mind you, I keep saying that in the Wild Card Rally and I keep winning, so who knows :P I think Mr. Bones: Skeleton Warrior might be one to watch, with all those Iron Fists.

I'd like to see some of your most recent bots, not only so we can see how much you've improved since Derpy and Whacker, but also so you can get some meaningful feedback. At the moment, most of the mistakes people are pointing out are things you already seem to have realized yourself, in which case it'd be good to see how you've learned from them.

CHRIST ON A BIKE I ACTUALLY WON
I was not expecting that! God, it wasn't half close in the end, though! I think this makes me the last undefeated bot in the tournament... O.o On a separate note, that was one hell of a throw from Green Arrow. ...to be honest, part of me is saying "vote Blizzard back in, it's an impressive bot and truly deserves it", and part of me is saying "vote Hypershocked because you can counter it easily". Ahh, gamesmanship... :P
...screw it. I'm voting for Blizzard. It deserves to be in the final four.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about the srimech. It's still better than the Panic Attack lid it used to have, which looked comically oversized on the new version. I wanted the srimech to rest just above the discs to stop them from banging against the floor when it's upside-down, so maybe I'll switch to srimech bars and have extender supports for them to rest on. Thanks for the feedback!

I'd consider dropping the armour down so you can add extenders either side of the arm to make it look thicker. Looks nice otherwise!
It's worth considering. Thanks for the feedback! I've rebuilt Vertigo a few more times since I started this thread, and I think the most recent rebuild is the best yet. Completely new chassis, new front wedges, new custom srimech powered by a slow Mag Snapper, new extender wheelguards (that I went full ham on), 2x NPC-T64 Fasts for drive, 2 Battlepacks for battery, 10mm Aluminium armour, weighs 790.5kg overall. I wanna put a custom design on that rear srimech panel but that can wait for the time being. Thoughts?

How did I know I was gonna be facing Blizzard this round... welp, it was fun while it lasted ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'd like to face Arachnida in a grudge match, to see who the superior axe bot is.

Zirconium looks nice, just like your other bots, but that axe needs upgrading. A steel wedge isn't gonna cause much damage and isn't gonna last too long either. If I were you, I'd upgrade the VDMA to a Storm and bolt on a frenZy hammer, a gothic axe, or just a big ol' spike or three. You'd have to downgrade some of the armour panels and reposition some of the internals but it'd be worth it.
I actually switched to the steel wedge from an iron spike because it wasn't doing enough damage in it's original configuration. Gothic Axe is crap from what I hear and Frenzy hammer is too long and I hate how it looks. My original iteration of this bot used a storm piston, but like Guldenflame said, battery usage was something of an issue and it also meant that the wheels were exposed due to how wide the storm piston is. I'm pretty sure the VDMA actually has more firing power (300 according to the component description) than a storm piston anyway (Which only has 200 according to its description)
Deathstalker uses a gothic axe powered by a Storm burst motor, and it's doing pretty well so far, so it can't be that bad... I'll definitely have to try it your way though, just to see for myself.

triple post hoo boy Everyone liked Deathstalker's lifter config, so here's the updated version! Removed the back wedge, which it didn't need, and gave it a custom-built lifting arm with some nice steel wedges on it. It can now deal a little damage, and self-right!

Forever Midnight looks pretty cool so far. I love the idea where you put two wheels on the top and two on the bottom, but can it drive properly like that? I assume so otherwise you wouldn't have done it :P
For the light/middleweight Bottom Feeder, I have a suggestion. I find that four-toothed discs (as used in Dentophobia and my own undercutter, Bluebird) are extremely stable if spun fast enough, so if you can fit four teeth onto the disc and spin it fast enough, you might not need extenders to stop the disc hitting the floor; the disc will do the work for you.
And good luck with the lightweight 2-disc bot, especially if it's IRL. I can barely make an IRL lightweight with one disc, as both Kurt and Rob will testify :P

Finally, Deathstalker in its first official complete form. All thanks to that back wedge
Yep. Looking real neat :D I'm up against four spinners and a rammer. Deathstalker has a pretty good track record against spinners so far, so that's not as bad a matchup as it might seem on paper. I'm pretty sure I can get to at least the league stage. Evil Art Project looks so pretty with that rainbow-coloured extender frame. It'd be a shame if somebody... hit it with an axe...

Just a quick point that GTM IRL rules are perhaps stricter than the Redditbots rules - everything has to be possible IRL, so those floating axles on your perms would need extender support structures for a GTM IRL tournament. :)
Nice looking robots, you'd probably make something cool for What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger.
[/plug]
Having just spent the last hour or so working on my entries for Kurt's tournament because their extender supports weren't good enough, I can very much confirm this You'll pick it up quickly, I've been here less than three weeks and already I feel like my IRL designs are a lot better than they were before I joined.

Oh man, that Mk.II looks vicious. TBH I think you think you deserve some kinda credit for entering a CW (cruiserwright) into a HW tournament, and then getting seeded that highly and putting up a good fight! I think we both learned our lesson from Redditbots: you can never do too much testing and refinement.

I'd vote for mine, but that seems pretty narcissistic.
Pretty sure that's against the rules anyway. I honestly expected to go flying out of the arena... man, am I glad I didn't. That was a tense fight. My unbeaten streak continues, it seems. - Green Arrow: Really unlucky to have flipped over at the start there, has been doing so well in the tournament up until now and deserves to stay.
- Space Shuttle: I think it threw its other two opponents out of the arena in ten seconds flat so like Green Arrow, it deserves to stay.

Dammit, first the Pound crashes, then Pot Noodles vanish from the shelves, now GTMRW gets cancelled... is there anything Brexit isn't going to ruin?

Okay, Kurt's gonna do a new tourneyament for you guys, I think it might;ve been done before but I can't remember. Here's the basic gist of it.
WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU...
DSL - Probably IRL again. Weightclass - LW, MW, CW, and HW.
- 16 entrants in a Single Elimination bracket. - Each entrant must send a four-strong team of robots that are pretty much the same. In Round One the Lightweights will get used, then in Round Two the Middleweights will get used, Round Three is Cruiserweights, and the Final is Heavyweights. - Given that it's based around "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." it would make sense that way.
- Each robot must start of as a LW then slowly evolve at each weightclass it increases to. - They must all look and function the same way, no adding a flywheel to the Cruiserweight version of a flipper robot.
Questions?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I'm down for editing this, but what's good? Ironforge or DSL, and IRL or Standard?
That's a really good idea, I like it. I'd say DSL-IRL, if only because that's the metagame I'm best at.
