Honestly I think this would work better and be funnier in stock tbh.

It's gonna be basically impossible to prevent cheating through sped up footage or splicing, and I think 1 minute is very strict, basically impossible if you include chassis creation. That being said, the idea is kinda similar to the RA2 speedrun thing I came up with a while ago with the help of a few people. Could be interesting.

Finally got my RoboGames entries sorted
RG2.png

Top Row, L>R
AW - Chariot of Fire, BW - Jerusalem, LW - Rule Britannia

Middle Row, L>R
MW - I Vow to Thee, my Country, CW - God Save the (Lizard) Queen

Bottom Row, L>R
HW - Land of Hope and Glory, SHW - God Save the (Lizard) Queen and Green and Pleasant Land

Chariot of Fire is probably the most tryhard bot. I used two slightly reskinned Reptilium variants because I'm lazy and have nothing better to enter, double lazy points for entering a HW+MW cluster as a SHW. I'm expecting Land of Hope and Glory to fail the hardest and look brilliant while doing it. Hopefully doot shows off the other side of Jerusalem's skin in the splash so I don't have to take another screenshot.

I feel like the force curve on Eruption's flipper is a bit off, I think maybe either the force is applied over too long a period, or maybe the force doesn't peak quickly enough (awful pic below to explain what I mean), both leading the flipper to feel a bit unsatisfying and unrealistic. That and Eruption's flipper is very inconsistent; sometimes feeling barely less anaemic than before and other times exploding like the gif Guldenflame posted above, or sometimes behaving in a way anywhere between those two extremes. I personally think it would be a good use of time to polish the feel of eruption's flipper and iron out the explosion bug, even if Eruption is not long for this game, as I'm sure it would serve you well if you chose to create another AI flipper or a component that allows the user to create flippers in the botlab.

Awful pic:

Challenge Board / Re: Pokebro14 vs Bildschrim

Seems there was an issue with my PMs since gulden and plerco both had a similar issue with their PMs to me being lost. Regardless, it seems to be fixed now. I have both bots for this challenge and will record soon.

Looking very interesting! Any tweaks to weaponry (Eruption's flipper power, carbide's spinner speed etc)?

Well based on the poll, this tournament is going to go ahead with an 8-bot bracket for DSL and Ironforge! I added a couple strawpoll links to the OP for what weightclass you want to see and what arena should be used, be sure to vote!

alright so I got kicked out of my account, and when I logged back in I received your PMs. Crisis averted! I'll get on hosting this thing, then.

Maybe make everything aluminium and try to get it down to CW? The bot is cool but would look out of place anywhere above MW IMO.

Love it, very compact. What weightclass?

Discussion / Re: Stacking

also its pretty certain that for some unknown reason it works better on certain PCs than others. I know in my game I can do the exact same thing badger does and it takes 20 mins or so. it's pretty much luck honestly.
This is true, on my old system it was a LOT harder to stack.

I'm thinking of doing a KOTH tournament.

shoveoff.png

Format and Rules:
8 entrants
DSL-IRL (w/ balance patch, DSC's extenders and the AP fixes) and IF-S
Standard meta building rules apply for each meta (For DSL-IRL, CB2 is banned but Flatmotors are allowed)
HW
KOTH on the LumaZone, 2 minute matches
4 bots per match. The lowest scoring (or first to be eliminated) bot in each match is eliminated. If there is a tie for worst bot, the tied bots will fight to the death on the flextop. First bot out is eliminated.
After each round of matches, the groups of bot are mixed and numbers kept equal and another round commences. This continues until there is a single bot remaining, who is the champion.
Example: 8 entrants. First round is 2x 4-way rumbles. One bot eliminated from each. Second round is 2x 3 way rumbles. Third round is 1x 4-way rumble. Fourth round is 1x 3-way rumble etc.
I reserve the right to reject your bot for any reason
Each bot has a single free havok restart. Consider this rule while building your IRL entrants especially, as they are often havok-prone

Scroll in all the way using the paint chassis tab
Move your mouse like you have parkinsons until you see it stack for a split second, then wiggle your mouse around the area where it stacked successfully until you get the spot perfect. It's worth noting that to stack the two components must usually (but not always) be perfectly on top of each other, or very close to it.
It helps to use a good gaming mouse at a lower DPI so you can accurately make small movements with the mouse without pixel skipping. Decent laptop trackpads can work too

I fired up stock for the first time in at least a year to make this gif for you, hopefully it helps

FYI: there will not be a challenge belt for April since I will be unavailable.
Could get another staff member to host, if there are any volunteers
