i don't think you get it. we don't want none of that unrealistic dsl-s bullsh**.

the goal is to be as CREATIVE and innovative as possible, push the irl meta forwards towards an evolution of bot effectiveness

this is the future avalanche wanted

It's time we truly push the meta forwards

RW 2016 Arena
- IRL meta, but you can be as competitive as you want.
- Your bots still need proper support, and must still be realistic enough for a poorly ran tournament
- 16 entrants max
- Double elim
- DSL 2.4 HW

-3 min fights
-Judges Decision will be based on Damage Aggression and Control
-If a robot has all of its wheels removed then it will be considered knocked out
-I will find some guy to do these matches over parsec with

Weapon limits:
- 4 large teeth (15-24kgs) ex: large typhoon, ripping teeth, large nightmare, etc)
- 6 small teeth (7-14kgs) ex: small typhoons, cutting teeth, heavy DS teeth, etc
- 10 small beaters, 8 Medium/large
- 2 rep disks max (mechavore/minion)
- Ant blades are banned
- Max of 200kgs of weapons
- Popups, jugglers, flail rams and any other bot type that should be illegal in irl are allowed, but they must follow the IRL style
- No burst limits
- Wammers are allowed twice the amount of teeth
- HS can have 4 large teeth + 2 smalls
- Flats are banned on everything besides hybrids, overhead saws, and bots that aren't competitive
- Overkills are cool
Winner gets AU btw

Modifications / ubermod 3.8
« on: July 19, 2020, 07:36:48 AM »
latest version of the ubermod I found trawling through au's archives. the one in the dl section is only 3.1

https://web.archive.org/web/20041231143950/http://www.gameroom.com/gav/UBM_components.zip

if you don't know what it is, it's a stock ""rebalance"" mod that's older than the average member of this community. why you would play this in 2020 tho is a question I can't answer

Discussion / RA2 Builder Ranking May-June 2020
« on: July 12, 2020, 09:29:13 PM »
No fancy graphics for this month, sorry

DSL IRL RANKINGS:
1. Robo
2. HoboDrew
3. Bildschirm
4. Neon
5. F1
6. Superbomb
7. KidDelta
8. Plerco

Most Improved
1. Hobo Drew
2. Kid Delta

We're probably going to do a soft restart with this if people are still interested. More than likely with a different/larger council, and also possibly a different system.

cmon nicky at least change something about the designs if you're going to do carbon copies

also, this is probably the best irl lineup in terms of quality that i've seen in a tournament. probably helps that 8bean got to cull a bunch of bots

predictions:
IRL- idc backyard terrorist
DSL-S - TDG if he doesn't end up dying to brain scan somehow and it's actually ai'd properly, nicky's cash cow clone if not
IF - moon wolf since i don't think anything aside from hw-hs can even come close to killing it, and even then it doesn't even beat sun bear 100% of the time in my testing

vote now on your phones

Update since there was a little bit of talk earlier about this

More than likely we'll continue the GTMCS tradition of hosting there different metas (unrealistic, IRL, standard), but I would like to know what people would prefer for standard. For reference, IF was used for the previous two tournaments, and neither 2.1 or 2.2 have been used for the standard bracket

Assuming there's still some interest, we'll look into discussing the other meats at a later date as well

i really don't see the issue considering dsl-s bots are already held together by paper thin supports and extenders

thing is really cool though. def an interesting use of the trov glitch

Modifications / Re: dsl stuff
« on: June 17, 2020, 06:16:59 AM »

it works and i got people testing

also, while the parts are heavier, i have reduced the weight of motors, and battereis by a fairly decent amount to compensate. most bfe heavy extender bots are still going to be either under the weight limit, or only slightly over (unless you build like robo)

Now I am not sure about this, but I think the weight specified in the GMF is used in the physics simulation and not affected by the weight in the mass parameter for the component txt, maybe that could be used to maintain weight compatibility with 2.2?
Or probably not as the anti-ballast messes the physics up.
We could increase the mass of everything x10 and scale up the weight limits.
we could try, but we'd also have to scale up all of the motors to compensate, and i'm fairly certain most of them would explode at that level of power. like burst motors will just go into a constant rupt if they don't have enough weight attached/they lose their flippers, and according to 123, high speed motors generally have a negative impact on game stability

Depends what you mean by backwards compatibility. If you mean 'bots from the current version will physically not work in the new version and you'll have to start from scratch', then I'd be opposed to it, but if it's just some lightening or component swapping then I don't see the issue with that
10cms, wedge edges, and the angled parts would weigh more
