If I'm late can you kick avalanche out and put my bot in

I’d rather have ava than you
brah you weren't even here when lra2 was active

Also, I'd argue if you should be accepting a banned users entries, but #ancaplyfe tbqh

has been suggested before. wasn't reasonable then, isn't reasonable now

also quote from kill

"Noob-Proofing" the forum is both outside our means and outside the realm of good ideas.

Age limit - People can lie very easily. Claim they're 13 or something like that, and just like that the system fails.

Besides, what you call noob proofing I call a destructive tendency. It is incredibly prejudiced to assume that every new person who is under a certain age is a noob, just as it's prejudiced to assume that someone who knows nothing of RA2 is going to be a headache for all of us. Isn't that what this forum is for, to learn?

If we implemented any sort of noob proofing measure, ESPECIALLY the ones mentioned in this thread, who knows what kind of future we might be destroying. I know for a fact that I was 12 when I signed up, and I knew nothing about RA2 that's worth mentioning. I've had to say this a million times now, but we were ALL noobs once, even if it wasn't here on GTM. We will not be closing off registration to anybody.

« on: June 18, 2018, 11:22:31 PM »
actually think it's a cool change even if it's pretty minor because

it's a faster way to show that you agree with something other than making a new post to say just that.

yeah but i mean
do we really need an excuse to post even less
No.

Reminder that this forum costs money to host, and by not posting you are LITERALLY wasting 09's $200 that he gave to Acams.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Likes are useless.
« on: June 17, 2018, 07:13:54 PM »
I'm not a particularly frequent poster but I think the like button is unnecessary for the purposes of GTM. It adds complexity we don't really need and I don't want anyone to focus on how many likes a post gets since stuff like that tends to happen. GTM has been working fine for years and years and I'm afraid a change like this will affect reading and posting habits.

If people like a showcased robot then they should make a post saying why they like it.

I do agree the current implementation is pretty ugly.

Maybe I just missed it, but can we discuss things like this before they are implemented to see if it's something that people would actually be interested in? Is there any reason this was added that I am not aware of? There might be other things members would rather have implemented.

I do appreciate that someone is making an effort to improve GTM in some way though.
Just an extra tibit, nobody on staff was informed that this was going to be implemented. If I had to guess the idea probably came from
https://gametechmods.com/forums/site-news-and-feedback/what-can-gametechmods-as-a-community-do-for-you/msg745052/#msg745052
and a few of ther discussions and chats we've had with users.

I'm not gonna complain at all since apanx actually get's sh** done as an admin.

How about a compromise?

Implement a dislike button, but only for FBI's posts.

« on: June 13, 2018, 06:17:51 PM »
Hey gamers

We're considering unbanning lra2 from the forums. We've let him back into the GTM discord, and his behavior has improved compared to how he has been in the past. He has also been relatively fine in other communities.

Vote on whether you think we should welcome him back the the forums. The decision at the end of the day comes down to the admins, but I would like to see where people stand in the matter.

Challenge Board / Changes to the Challenge Board Rules
« on: June 13, 2018, 01:53:26 PM »
Since this board is barely clinging to life, I'll be loosening up some of the requirements.

Firstly, the amount off challenges you can be a part of at once is now unlimited. Keeping challenges in gridlock due to active challenge going nowhere is dumb, we're getting rid of that. 1 week deadlines are still in effect.

We're also now going to allow challenge participants to host their own challenges (assuming all challengers consent). These challenges will be considered 'casual' and will not count towards any rankings. Make sure to include that your challenge is self hosted somewhere in the OP.

I'll look in to other things later on, so stay tuned I guess.

Rule of 15, or ro15, is the deepest evil in the land aside from the max chassis sphere. Maybe some day a hero will purge it. Basically, the baseplate will only allow 15 points to be placed on it. If it was just 16, so much more cool stuff could be created. Alas.

Contests / BOTM Theme Ideas (August)
« on: June 12, 2018, 07:50:54 PM »
Hey gamers, new system.

Post what theme/meta/gimmick (or no gimmick) you would like to see for the upcoming BOTM, then towards the end of the month we'll put all the sensible ideas into a poll, and then everyone votes on which theme/meta they like the best.

If nobody posts any ideas, then August's BOTM will be decided by staff.
