I'm not sure about the oversight but it normally only becomes economical to use a larger battery if you're using really powerful burst motors. The 20kg batteries aren't at all efficient in DSL 2.1. I'm not exactly sure about battlepacks, but I don't make a lot of big flippers so I wouldn't know.
Come to think of it a lot of guys that used to make a lot of flippers vanished recently. SM doesn't post much, KM left again, and Vertigo hasn't posted in months...

One ant per spin motor. Burst motors still require full power as listed in the description.
Also I thought it was a heavyweight/cruiserweight, not a middleweight :P

Don Hutson would come back too, Vice Crypt/Root Canal still exists as far as I know. He usually only comes out if there's TV cameras, from what I've seen...
In response to RFS, Brian Nave still has most his bots though I think he sold off some smaller ones. Not entirely sure. Infernolab's still around, Jason's last stint in combat robotics was driving Vlad at a ComBots event a few years back. Late Night Racing still competes with Original Sin and Big B.
Team Raptor's still around with the Pack Raptors (who currently haven't done anything but appear on crappy Disney shows) and Preda Raptor, who you wrote about back in '11.
IIRC Team Tiki competed in Seasons 4.0-5.0 with a thwackbot named Tiki Fire, and they still have Red Robot (AKA Minifridge minus the hammer) and a middleweight tirebot around.
Ray Scully (builder of Team Wetware's bots and most famous for Abbatoir) last competed in 2012 with a middleweight named Iron Man. He'd probably show up for a new BB. Team Ghetto Logic Robotics, owner of El Spooky, also last competed in 2012 with Snowball, a heavyweight. They might come back too.
Also, CM Robotics (maker of Ziggy and CycloneBot) had two robots in Season 5, one of them being the rather successful BravePart.

Also I think it needs two or three more ants to fully power the judge burst , not sure how its battery drain is

I watched a few FailRace videos before I saw this one. They did a variant of Robot Wars in GTA V which came out pretty well. Reminiscent of the first few seasons actually :P

I dont like the hw metallicus at all. Its like you made a standard bot and added extender work to try to look irl-ish. Put the eteks in the chassis if you want to use them.
Slapper looks pretty cool, and replace your S3 wheels with technos on Autistic Pride.

One issue i've noticed, at least in my copy of the arena, that the saws just barely pop up and don't really toss as much as they used to. I'm loving the new pulverizers though, they work just as they do IRL. <3

 A quick LW build that's inspired by one of my old FMRW bots. Even has a kinda rushed recreation of the mouse face on the original. Kinda generic but I like it for its simplicity.
