that is some well-done pixel art, especially the shading.

i feel like my robots are more remembered for being controversial than for anything actually notable

thank god for rr2

Hellbender, drum thing. an attempt to give the undercutter above 4wd morphed into this. it has far too much power for its own good, considering the drive had to be geared down to 15:1 just to be controllable. pretty good drum and maneuverability, though. i'll probably chuck it into parsec rumble just to see where the flaws are since it beats most of my other robots pretty consistently

did you uv-map the model properly?

I think I've gotten the hang of the process now - I'm also noticing that something's going wrong somewhere down the line.

The first 6 or so attempts at making a chassis produced chassis with individually colorable panels (some with more paint bleed than others), but the most recent .bots don't allow for individual panels to be colored, it turns the entire chassis template to that color.

I've not been deviating from the tutorial at all, so I'm quite confused as to why it's going belly up all of a sudden.

whose tutorial are you following and have you uv-mapped the model at all

also what program are you making .objs in?

also while i'm here, can i request the ability to run a weapon off of multiple motors? this would help tremendously with trying to make more compact robots.

Were you thinking two motors, both turning the same belt?  You can request it, but it really complicates the component assembly tree.  I.e. it isn't really a tree structure any more.  The .RR2bot file and component assembly is currently built around a tree structure.  Each component has exactly one parent component.  With the possibility of two parents, things become much more complicated.
that's what i meant and that's what i figured. unfortunate, but if you ever get the chance to try something like that i'd really be grateful.

it is 100% safe to use. it won't break your computer or your game.

i feel like what needs to be done (if possible) is to find a certain energy threshold where damage will begin to occur. two robots bumping into each other at low speeds typically doesn't cause damage, and neither do many low-power attacks with weapons. if there's a way to make it so all damage calculated below this threshold is zero, i think that should be the way to go.

weapons shouldn't always cause damage because then a heavy bar dragging slowly across a chassis will do quite a lot more damage than in real life, and no one likes that.

how come the heats are set up so the seeds meet in round 2? doesn't that defeat the purpose of seeding them?

Why does this look like Amethyst and a vacuum cleaner had a child? I like it, but it also looks like it’ll kill itself.

funny you mention amethyst because a robot quite like it will be appearing in bashbots 2 sometime in the near future ;)

Oooookaaaay... I'm simultaneously terrified of that weapon and confident that a couple of my bots could wedge it quite well. :P
you can certainly try :V

not my first bot, but the first i've built that i'm happy with now that i know the game. the blade has a mass of 53kg and spins hellafast (no hard numbers because it's wheelfixed).

this game's so much better than ra2 damn

it took me way too long to figure out that that was a bunch of hworf blades stacked together and not a custom weapon
