I assumed your were going for the maximum as you haven't specified your tournament size of 8 entrants. Could you please amend the OP to reflect this?
My bad, I knew I had forgot something! Thanks for pointing that out

Yes, you can but always remember that the amount of 'Yes's - 1 will be the actual interest of the tournament from other people. You still only need 8 'yes's but I'd advise waiting until you accumulate a tad more before you request moving this to signups.

Once your tournament has at least half it's entry list size in 'Yes' votes (for example, 8 'Yes' votes for a 16 bot tournament), you can move to signups

Moving to Signups
It is your duty to add a poll to your discussion thread asking "Would you consider entering this tournament?"
Once the poll option "Yes" has at least half the entry list size in votes it becomes eligible for the Signups section.

I thought it was half the tournament size (so 4 in this case)?

For your first tournament, the thread looks nice and clean. You may want a bit more clarification of whether there is a limit to updates on robots. Like, am I allowed to only make minor changes, major changes or send in a whole new robot?
I'll clarify in the main post, thanks. Can I vote in my own poll?

Yeah, you're gonna enter, right?  Plus, there's no way to tell who actually made each vote.
Yup. I haven't voted in the poll yet, though.

What I also had in mind if we had a TeamSpeak server or at least a room. Sorta like GTM Skype but it would be a place every GTM member could join any time
A GTM teamspeak would be dope

RULESET
  • Ironforge HW (200.1 - 400.0, excluding smartzones)
  • 8 entrants
  • No custom components (including skin packs)
  • No SnS, popups or crawlers (This includes true popups.)
  • Multibots are allowed (limit of 2 minibots per multibot). However, the multibot will be defeated if either one of the minibots is destroyed/immobilized.

  • No AAM, BFE etc
  • Bots must show controlled movement
  • 2 minute battles, BO3 double elimination
  • BBEANS V2 Arena

  • 1 havok restart per bot per BO3 match. Further havoks will result in a lost round, if the havok is important enough the change the round outcome.
  • I can AI, but AIing your own entry is encouraged, as I cannot guarantee anything more than moving toward the other bot if your bot is complex or strange.
  • Updates (any changes to your entry, up to and including a completely new bot) are allowed up until the recording for the first match (I will post in the tournament thread to indicate this). After that, no changes can be made, excluding changes to a bot's skin.
  • I reserve the right to reject a bot for any reason

Would anyone be interested in a small (8 player) standard IF tournament? Probably HW, BO3 double elim. I feel there aren't enough standard tournaments these days.

Looks super awesome. Is there a way you can AI it to make the drum spin the opposite way when inverted?

Oh, and would it be possible to rotate the blades by 90 degrees? They don't have normals on the flat side, you might get more damage out of it.

Do you have a larger version of the wrath robot pic? I think it would make a sick wallpaper, for my desktop or phone.

A'ight. Whilst I'm waiting on that, ecolusian and I are having an impromptu battle. A rematch, in a way. Anyone wanna host this match?

Edit: Id like to use the bbeans2 arena, but the ring'll do if you cant get it.
bagsie.

You got a DL for the bbeans 2 arena so I don't have to go hunting?

edit: got the bbeans arena, what mod are you gonna use?

I know, I just don't want to sacrifice the wedges since wedge war = everything, I'll make some changes tonight

*los sigh* Suppose I'll have to for now.

Also, another, less-fueled-by-anger suggestion: Could you make a wheel that's in between the Mini Wheel and the N-12 in diameter, like a version of Stock/DSL's Shiny Hubs or Slipperbottoms?
I like the wheel suggestion, would be handy.

Pokers aren't really that OP. Sure they're annoying, but if your bot has a wedge they just launch over the top without much harm (or they out wedge you, in which case you're screwed anyway, unless the poker pushes you away, which they do a lot) and if your bot doesn't have a wedge the poker just launches its weapon rack into your weapon array, causing a generic weapon war of attrition.

Basically, poker's problems are that they push the 2 bots apart. This is annoying for bother bots, esp. if your bot can't get a good hit in.

Discussion / Re: What's the best RA2 Version for IRL-building?
« on: March 09, 2016, 06:02:54 PM »
Wasn't Ironforge made for spinners and such only where Axes/Flippers have no chance?
flippers and axes are very powerful in ironforge, esp flippers, go try it out.
also most of the AI that comes with ironforge is IRL
That's true actually,  about half the stock bots are IRL.

All motors are powerful for their weight in ironforge, flippers and VS punters are aided by the fact that the bots weigh half as much as normal. Large chassis and use of balasts may be needed to make a bit stable, but that's not an issue for IRL.

If you give IF a go and have any questions, hit me up on steam or send a PM on here, I'm happy to help and I want to encourage as many people as possible to play IF.

Ready for the worst image you've ever seen?

Made it as a boring ass popup at first, turns out the wedges were awful. Like ungodly bad. Do I wiped the components, rebuilt as a gutripper VS, and it suddenly has god-tier wedges. Exact same thing happened with the last bot I posted, how odd.
