As SHIELD says, free-rotating axles are a solution to that issue - it's a heavy solution and won't be as fast as motors on everything, but with a good set of motors powering 2 wheels it'll do okay. I feel like the design (and this solution) would work well in Ironforge as single motors on their own can be crazily fast.

Reach looks a little dodgy. How fast does it spin on those motors? I imagine the weight slows them down a fair amount, but I could be wrong. Also you could totally shrink dat chassis :P good to see people doing something different though.

I'd think that if there was any drive here you'd just drop the name "robot arena" and make your own game.  I mean comon, unity (for example) has a straight up tutorial on how to setup a physics sandbox.
Heck they even released the source code for space engineers which gets you construction, multiplayer, and physics, all you need is to tweak the physics for your purposes. Its a lot of talk.

As previously mentioned in here, they didn't compete.
Unfortunately, Beta was unable to get working once again for this tournament. Really sucks.
Yeah. From what I've heard, there was a speed controller problem or some such. Really really sucks.
RE Beta:
American Airlines lost their custom weapon controllers ain't no point in fighting Tombstone without a weapon.
oh my god this was amazing! I'm a little sad tho that beta didn't compete again, does anyone know why I only saw DID NOT COMPETE on the bbs wiki?

they couldn't get their weapon working (controllers were lost in transit) and had to pull out


All of the robots got put on that list whether they were in, dropped out or alternates. Hence Beta being there, as well as stuff like Chronic/Bulldog

HELLO EVERYBODY WELCOME TO BRITBONGS VS AMERIFATS I AM YOUR HOST 090901
TONIGHT WE WILL BE HAVING A SHOWDOWN LIKE NO OTHER, BRITBONGS AND AMERIFATS WILL BE FIGHTING AGAINST EACH OTHER FOR ULTIMATE DOMINANCE IN THE RA2 WORLD.
TOURNY INFO:
This tourney will consist of two teams, TEAM BRITBONG and TEAM AMERIFAT
If you are from UNITED STATES OF AMERICA you will be on TEAM AMERIFAT.
If you are from UNTIED KINGDOM you will be on TEAM BRITBONG.
If  YOU AREN'T FROM EITHER COUNTRY you CAN CHOOSE WHICH TEAM YOU WANT TO BE ON. (If the teams become too uneven you may be placed on the other team!)
Each team will be made up of 8 people(THIS COULD CHANGE IF WE GET MORE PEOPLE).
Each round every bot from each team will fight another bot on the other team in a 1 v 1 match.
Each bot has 3 lives
When you lose all your lives you are OUT
Once the other team is defeated, the remaining members of the winning team will fight it out in 1 v 1 matches until only one bot has any lives left and the builder will be crowned the ULTIMATE BRITBONG/AMERIFAT!

Tourney Info

Matches will be 3 minutes long.
Arena will be the DSL Tourney Arena
Loser of the match loses a life.
Havok restarts will only be given if its a match altering havok.

Building Rules
Stock MW (Stock means all legal parts in Stock 1.4)
Bots must have at least 2 wheels unless they are rammers, then they can have 1.
No BFE, AAM, Thyrus Glitch, Hax Mode, Zero G, and etc
Cheatbot2 is banned OTHER than the flamethrower, which may be used!
No custom components. (Reskins are fine as are custom smartzones)
If you are dumb special and want to enter a multibot, go ahead.
Bots must have controlled movement.
Each bot must have a name that makes fun of the other team in some way OR be about your country
Each bot must be skinned in the national pride of the country you are representing.

To me Warhead seemed weaker than last time on BB.
Robots have come along way since Warhead was last on Battlebots, and I heard they basically didn't update it at all.

I believe they did update it, but yeah, robots have come a long way.
In a world where most competitors either follow the Razer design rule (design the robot around the weapon - see Last Rites/Tombstone, Brutality) or the exact counter to that (fancy wedges - see Bite Force et al), a bot that spends a load of it's weight on aesthetics and not the weapon or the survivability is pretty much doomed in my opinion. Warhead is, in a sense, this season's Snake or Mechadon, as is Plan X

Exactly this. Things have changed. It's the same as people saying (co-incidentally) Razer should come back, when it'd frankly be outclassed in terms of force now.
