I'll probably post the full vote tally sometime over the weekend. if it wasn't obvious, I only posted the top 2 for each category since a few of them are filled with single vote outliers

Just an update: on top of the current hall of fame vote, we'll be having having a second 'legacy' hall of fame for a handful of members who were monumental to the development of ra2. said HOF will be decided on by staff, and in no way will it affect the current/modern hall of fame vote

Voting closes on the 20th btw

yeah so the game is more unstable when you have more than 2 bots in the arena, and as a result such i won't be running multibots/minibots. ill keep hornbobs fight in regardless, but bonfire will auto advance regardless of outcome

also code red is joining in as a year late entry as I don't have one of the entrants

tldr: mm2 oota rules (oota is auto elim), and im probably going to run it as a single elim as the tournament since i don't think people are that interested in rg2. also the worst tourney ever retrurn in that critically damaged extender bots will be eliminated (although I'll probably still let the fight run for viewings sake)

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: real facts
« on: November 22, 2019, 03:16:22 PM »
Here is what I think, about the bulding styles :

:thumbup Stock : It may don't have the variety or the balance of the DSL, but it's still cool. But some noobs/newbies can find it too hard, cos of the stacking, snapper loading and stuff.

:thumbup Stock noob level on purpose (but not stock IRL, it sux) : I'm OK with it, even some times I make a noob tournaments vs a noob AI or vs friends (they are noobs).

:thumbup DSL normal/standard : I'm not playing it, but I do respect it. If I ever build DSL, it will be the standard DSL. I remember the days, when all the members were building the both - DSL standard and stock, and it was cool. It just turns out, that even with the tries to balance it, in the end, some components are just better, like in stock, and I understand this, but I love stock with his unbalanced components, so the liking of DSL-S is not a problem.

:thumbdown DSL IRL  : The so called DSL-easy mode. The fact > , that my bots must be judged by a GTM members are they IRL or not, or a judges have to decide did I won or not, > alienates me from the IRL DSL. This is a game, the RA2 engine don't have the phisics of the real world, so if someone want to play something VERY realistic, then a real bot building in a garage is more recomended, but it's expensive tho.

:popcorn DSL 3 beta, Nar AI, 123's new TC and so on : not yet released/in a beta stage, so I can't comment them.

:thumbup Replica building : I'm OK with it, I even made 1 replica in stock long time ago.

Also, IMO, if you build stock, it makes you a better/hardcore builder overall ('cos stock is hard to build), so it makes the building easy later, when you move to the easier any DSL, but if you start with any DSL in the begining, later the stock will look very hard for you.

- After a tournament has been completed, contact a mod to have the thread moved to the tournament archive section
How about a END TOUNRNAMENT button to the creators of the tournament topic, and it automatically moves it to the archive, instead of contacting mods?
the technology isn't there

Tournament Archives / Update to the tournament section
« on: November 11, 2019, 05:15:10 PM »
The tournament section has been simplified to better fit with the wider hosting community, and also make it far less of a hassle to use

- Tournamenta no longer require polls or mod approval to enter sign-ups. Sign-ups will start and end at the host's discretion

- Discussion, sign-ups, and SBV's will now take place in a single tournament thread

- In-progress tournaments, discord, and all other off-site tournaments are welcomed and are fine to post here

- After a tournament has been completed, contact a mod to have the thread moved to the tournament archive section

We hope that this will encourage people to start posting their off-site tournaments on gtm, and also make it easier for new potential hosts to get a start with hosting

Modifications / Re: DSL 2.31/crash patch in progress...
« on: November 08, 2019, 06:46:40 AM »
small update: this is the current WIP plan for the angled extenders and 10cm.

essenitally this involves adding a 2nd set of angled parts with a different mesh to help improve external use compatibility
- top left: longer mesh with the same width as the default mesh
- bottom left: shorter and fatter mesh
- right: 10cms now have the mesh shifted downwards towards the default AP (as do the angled parts)
the base uncolored angles and 10cms probably aren't going to be changed as i know some people who don't use bfe still use them to do their internals

i will try to see if i can reduce the size of the meshes even more, but i don't think i can really go that much smaller with how heavily spammed these parts are

wedge edges are done like this. the actualy mesh ended up being a little longer than whats shown

i may potentially make an alt set that's thicker on the y-axis as some bots like claymore that use them in conjunction with triangle plates have issues with the current mesh

i do realize that an alternate set of parts may cause backwards compatibility issues with people who don't have the pack installed, so right now this isn't final, and there is a very good chance that both meshes end up completely different

finally, yes, some bots will have compatibly issues. however out of the 20 or so bots ive been testing with on parsec, only 2 of them actually needed to have modifications done, and said modifications took less than 5 minutes each (if you're wondering, both bots were non-bfe'd extender bots with relativity complex internal frames)
if people really cba to update their bots, or if you unironically think all of your bots are going to be unfixable, then do let me know so that i know that people are against this. i will say though that the patch does actually work in making extenderbots 10x more playable (ask plerco or kix who helped me test)
