as a """boomer"""" I hate the fact I have to join a new discord server for like every god damn tournament to know whats even going on but that's just me
****ing this
I wouldn't mind if GTM weren't the only place to go for RA2 if I didn't have to go on a scavenger hunt to find the other ones. I swear the OW and PWS servers aren't public and they're apparently the most thriving places for RA2. I could be wrong by now (since I last checked) but I just can't be arsed to check and go on said scavenger hunt. I don't know how the current community puts up with it.
pretty much anyone who is remotely active and not a complete idiot/reject/boomer is on those servers (which tbh theres only like 2 or 3 major ones)
Doesn't make it much better. It's also not great for newbs that stumble upon GTM, only to find a super quiet forum and maybe a dead discord server link.

The issue is the people who have the time to run things are probably the exact people we don't want running things.
I think this applies for most online community admin applications in general. The kind of person who volunteers to give their free time to moderate the community is probably the kind of person you don't want to be giving any power. See: all of Reddit

That's a great bot for a newbie. A bit plain, but very neatly laid out with a well done weapon system. I really like how you're themeing your showcase too. Keep up the good work!

Stop what youre doing and think about why this will not work
Explain why not, apart from some replicas being made better than others
my guy, did you not read a single one of the replies to this thread?

Suggestion - IRL Parsec as a 4th "meta"/subtournament

Thanks, boomer
Honestly Kill was right when he tried to make GTM more of a hugbox. Maybe the best idea would be to move all the RA2 (or just IRL?) stuff to a new/different community that's more friendly and not stuck on an archaic communication format. The splintering of communities is already an issue (cheers Orc), if GTM isn't a suitable hub for everything RA2 anymore, for whatever reasons, then maybe a new one is needed. Having everything decentralised is bad for almost everyone, and it feels like GTM has become toxic or at least nonessential to the continuation of RA2.

Ironforge is literally only played by Reier. DSL should be used for Standard.

RE weapon balancing: It's so difficult to perfectly balance weapons, it not just a linear weight:damage scale you can adhere to. The mesh is such a big deal, and it's effect on balancing is unquantifiable, so you can't solve the balancing issue with spreadsheets unless you feel like removing a load of components to make a tiny mesh pool like IF.
Btw thanks for this iteration of the bi-yearly doompost. Let me know if there's a rota for it or something.

Heat E of Deathmatch 4 is now up!
Apologies for this being up here late. Had a pretty busy evening yesterday.
Qualifier 1: (Match Rating: 3/5) - This match I remember getting quite a few havoks for, and I think most of which I can blame on The Machine. Lucklily this fight was rather one-sided in Duality's favor for the judge's decision, so nothing particularly difficult. Also, just to note now, Duality now can push with its back wedge once the front weaponry gets broken off. I love Apanx's bot exporter. I couldn't get it to work for the longest time, and I'm so happy now since I can actually get the specific quirky AI .pys to finally work! :D Qualifier 2: (Match Rating: 4/5) - Due to multibot ruling, Pure Abuse could only fight with one of the twins. But this fight was hectic. Lots of parts being taken off of everything, and luck was in favor for Solar Storm, as both Kopter and Pure Abuse was counted out before Solar Storm got mangled. Redemption Battle 1: (Match Rating: 3/5) - Okay, I dunno how the music got so loud here, but regardless this is where the twins really shined. Poor Cruor wasn't fast enough to flank either of the twins make a statement. Redemption Battle 2: (Match Rating: 3/5) - This fight was actually close. While Machine spent most of the time in the first half pushing around Kopter being incredibly aggressive, Kopter really took the second half with Damage, and for control, I had to give the nod to Kopter for being slightly more controlled. Again, this was hella close. Semi-Final 1: (Match Rating: 3/5) - Oh boy, this match. Another close fight here. Firstly, I probably could've counted out Kopter, after closer inspection, Duality did kinda keep nudging Kopter while it was on its back, and I knew in testing Kopter was capable of self-righting. The decision itself was close cause while Kopter took Damage and Duality took Aggression, Both bots were in a close stage of being out of control, and towards the end, it's where Duality lacked it the most. Sheesh. Two close decisions in a row, and coincidentally, both have had my bot coming out from the skin of its teeth. I feel I might get scolded for that, but I'll do my damndest to certainly be fair as possible. And that's my word. Semi-Final 2: (Match Rating: 3/5) - The previous champion wasn't capable of taking on the twins as they took full advantage and tossed around Solar Storm. Shame too, I was hoping Solar Storm was going to make a comeback someday. Heat Final: (Match Rating: 4/5) - A short, but quite a thrilling fight I must say. I was almost certain Kopter was going to get it's ass kicked by the Pure Abuse twins, but sure enough, the blade had some power in it, so it can actually take the twins out. Yay, I finally won a heat! It took me four series, but my God, I'm finally glad I can actually say that! Couldn't have got more unlucky w/ matchups and how the rumble played out. Oh well. Karma for entering such a sh**bot lul

It looks like you have a good start on the botlab, but it's not a good look to come to the forums so extremely early in the development process with little to show and immediately start pushing your patreon. Your post reads more like an advert for your patreon than anything else.
Regardless, I hope you stick with it. The way you can "glue" components onto the outside of the chassis is cool, if you can get that working for glueing components onto each other that would be awesome!

I like the use of the round extenders on top of the shell, and props for the unconventional "tooth" choice over typhoons. Unfortunately, it won't really do any damage I don't think, and aside from those 2 points it's just a regular shell spinner.

lmao you're not gonna get sued.
Even if their company gave half a sh** about your webcomic (they won't, guaranteed) they would send a cease and desist first, which is a legalese way of telling you to stop before they sue you. They won't sue you without that. But it won't even get that far, I guarantee you.

It's pretty bland, and no wedge means it'll get destroyed by pretty much everything.
