GTMstats discussion (nope, this is not a tournament)
« on: February 18, 2012, 11:31:55 AM »
Or builder statistics. Somehow like the GTM ranks, but people don't vote, it'll all based on objective stuff, not people's opinions. So you can brag about the titles you won.

Example of titles:

Gametechmods Grand Champion : largest number of tournaments won overall. Different subdivisions can be made for the different tournament style.
Best Fighter : best win/loss ratio in tournaments and in challenge board. Different subdivisions can be made in DSL, Stock, IRL, and even the bot types if you wish, etc...
Old Warrior : largest amount of official battles fought
Gametechmods Arena Champion : largest amount of challenges won
Battle Hungry : largest amount of challenges fought
Best Gladiator : best win/loss ratio in challenge board

Of course bragging ones are good, but you can do depreciative/hilarious ones like Largest Number of Improbably Ridiculous Defeats (i'm looking at you Thyrus, and your bots that get stuck on the arena wall), and Ribbs most definitely deserves one for Highest Self-OOTA Ever, just keep them objective (aka facts, not opinions)

Etc, etc. So you get titles based on your stats. You are responsible for counting your statistics, no policing will be made, but if someone is caught cheating by your stats, you might earn some other title. And lose the other ones.

Anyone interested ? Also

Well to be honest, it takes a lot more skill to win a BBEANS tournament than a NOOB warz tournament. But anything to do with the challenge board would be great!

Although, we should then make a better ranking system (beating someone with more CP = they lose more and you win more? like an ELO rating system.)
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.

As far as I know there's only one thing I've acheived really (best first tournament run; that's unless Nary's first tourney was BBEANS 4).

I've had in mind for a week, about counting who has won tournaments the most. I'm willing to do it tonight.

Should we apply a different weighting for them, in that case? for instance, Noob Warz champion would net you about 3 points, and BBEANS would earn you 5? Or maybe finishing in second, third and fourth could score points too. I've done that a lot, rather annoyingly.

Perhaps we could try something similar to the World Tennis Rankings, or whatnot. Depending on how they work.

n00b warz shouldn't earn you points at all, since it's not a serious tournament at all.

I am willing to put in place a points system, depending of the number of entries in the tournament. After all the most entries in a tournament, the harder it is to win.

I've had in mind for a week, about counting who has won tournaments the most. I'm willing to do it tonight.

No need to count... i'm pretty sure I'm the winner :trollface

I think you've won about 9 tournaments or something, Naryar. According to your Wiki. I've won 5, but I've finished in the top four around 15 times or so. I'm like the Andy Murray of Robot Arena 2.

Maybe something like this could work, apart from the "Regional weighting". That wouldn't make any sense here at all.

I've won two tournaments, and come in the Top Four in several others, so hopefully my standing could be fairly decent.

What about the "Whines the most about tournament loss" award ?

Isn't that a personal attack in the main forum? Are you going to apply a warning to yourself or something?

In any case I'm pretty ehh since I really haven't entered many tournaments.

Good boy.

But isn't your entire post off topic, technically?

Hopefully these upcoming DSL tournaments should give me a little boost in the standings if I do any good.

I've been here since 2009, and never won a simple tournament... Well once, but it was unofficial victory.
