Controls?
« on: June 02, 2011, 05:44:22 AM »
Just a random question i thought i'd post here...
What do you use to control your 'bots? (arrow keys, WSAD, whatever else)
And what do you use for weapons?
Me, i use arrow keys and the spacebar/VBN.
Sometimes if i have a spinner or something i only press once i use L (dont ask me why).

WSAD for movement.
Space for weapon.
Q-E If I need to control a servo or something or if I need a few more buttons for a srimech or something.
Works quite well.

I use the arrow keys for drive.

Space for the main weapon.

Num 0 for the other weapon (or a srimech).

Enter if I have a third weapon.

Num 4 and Num 6 for a servo.

Num 8 and Num 2 for something like a Beta Hammer.

I used to use arrow keys + NumPad but my new keyboard doesn't have NumPad. Now I use WASD + Space + VBN
Better than GK since 2009.
I think SM is a pretty cool guy, eh builds unicycle-bots and doesn't afraid of anything

Up/Down/Left/Right = Movement
A = Primary Weapon
S = Secondary Weapon/Srimech
D = Srimech
Q/W = Servo
Z/X = Servo
F/G = Other Features

That should cover most of them.

I do it like that 'cause I'm a lefty, so Z and X don't require much effort. H is in the middle of the keyboard, so is easy to mash, and arrow keys... they're just PERFECT for being directions :3

Nice explanation there  :approve:

Even though I'm right-handed, I do it because I'm quite used to using the Arrows and the Space Bar for most gaming applications, and I use Z and X as secondary buttons because they're above the Space Bar, and therefore quite easy to reach with my index and middle fingers.

I use this with a USB adapter thingamabob to make it work with my computer.

I drive using the right stick and everything else is either the left stick or the switch on the top left.

Cunning. That should help you get some practice driving.
