What are the best wheels?
« on: June 01, 2011, 06:00:34 AM »
I've read multiple things on wheels now, that shinies are the best because they are so light, but then I read in some stock thread "can you upgrade those wheels to rubbers?" and other conflicting information.

So my question is, what are the best wheels? If there are different wheels the best in different scenario's (lots of weight left opposed to scratching to get the lightweight limit) please describe those :)

Shiny's for weight. Rubbers for low ground clearance on HPZs (for a better wedge) and Grannies (slipperbottoms) for invertability on some bots.
Better than GK since 2009.
I think SM is a pretty cool guy, eh builds unicycle-bots and doesn't afraid of anything

Rubbers not only give you a lower ground clearance, but can actually make your bot more invertible in some cases.

Also, it all else fails, Fatboys are your last option. If your bot isn't invertible by then, give it a srimech or think of another design. :P

I had a Snsns (SnS with spinning weapons if you don't know; but you seem to have done your research) with tribars on top, and with rubbers it had far more controlled movement than with shinies.

Check out the bot on the bottom right. With shinies, it can barely drive inverted. But with rubbers (due to the larger grip mesh), it drives inverted just fine.
