Just a random question i thought i'd post here...
What do you use to control your 'bots? (arrow keys, WSAD, whatever else)
And what do you use for weapons?
Me, i use arrow keys and the spacebar/VBN.
Sometimes if i have a spinner or something i only press once i use L (dont ask me why).
-
WSAD for movement.
Space for weapon.
Q-E If I need to control a servo or something or if I need a few more buttons for a srimech or something.
Works quite well.

for additional things I use v or b
-
I use the arrow keys for drive.
Space for the main weapon.
Num 0 for the other weapon (or a srimech).
Enter if I have a third weapon.
Num 4 and Num 6 for a servo.
Num 8 and Num 2 for something like a Beta Hammer.
-
I used to use arrow keys + NumPad but my new keyboard doesn't have NumPad. Now I use WASD + Space + VBN
-
Arrow keys to move
Space for primary fire
Z for secondary fire
X for tertiary fire
H for switch
-
Arrow keys and space bar.
Anything else, I use x and then z, then c and v if I really need to.
-
I use a joystick.
Like a boss.
-
WSAD for moving analogs
Space for weapon Buttons
Alt (Right) for second weapon / srimech buttons
N & M for spinning analogs (Servo or SnS, etc)
-
WSAD for movement.
Space for weapon.
Q-E If I need to control a servo or something or if I need a few more buttons for a srimech or something.
Works quite well.

Up/Down/Left/Right = Movement
A = Primary Weapon
S = Secondary Weapon/Srimech
D = Srimech
Q/W = Servo
Z/X = Servo
F/G = Other Features
That should cover most of them.

Arrow keys to move
Space for primary fire
Z for secondary fire
X for tertiary fire
H for switch
Another thing you and I have in common :beer:

I do it like that 'cause I'm a lefty, so Z and X don't require much effort. H is in the middle of the keyboard, so is easy to mash, and arrow keys... they're just PERFECT for being directions :3

Nice explanation there :approve:
Even though I'm right-handed, I do it because I'm quite used to using the Arrows and the Space Bar for most gaming applications, and I use Z and X as secondary buttons because they're above the Space Bar, and therefore quite easy to reach with my index and middle fingers.
-
Arrow Keys= Move
Space Bar= Main Weapon
Z,X,C= Other Weapons
A,S = Switch for Weapons
-
EDSF = normal motion
IKJL = inverted motion
Space = burst
A = spin normal
; = spin invert
-
Arrow Keys - Motion
Right Shift - Primary Weapon / Srimech
Forward Slash - Secondary Weapon / Srimech
Full Stop - Tertiary Weapon / Srimech
Space Bar - Quaternary Weapon / Srimech
I've not made anything needing more controls yet.
-
Arrow keys for movement

S for srimech
W + S for secondary analog
E for secondary weapons/srimechs

I use this with a USB adapter thingamabob to make it work with my computer.
I drive using the right stick and everything else is either the left stick or the switch on the top left.

Why do you think I've been bugging click to make a Shish-Kabot replica for the past 6 months. :P
Also it's really fun to drive with RA2 up on a 32" HDTV and the arena camera set up for a drivers eye view.
-
Arrow Keys for driving
Numpad for inverted driving
Space for weapon
Control for switch
Didn't need anything else so far.

Well mr smarty pants sure put us all to shame :P
I have, in the past, used a PS2-esc controller and the F10 cam to get into the RW drivers area's to simulate as close as I could :P

Wish I'd thought of that- to pretend that you were beating Mortis in the First World Championship? :approve:

Nah.. that over-sized cheesecake was doomed when it first entered the arena.

Ah, OK. Still, at least the Nemesis version of Terror Australis moved, eh?

My most common keyboard setup is....
-Movement: Arrow Keys
-Main Weapon: Space
-Extra Button: B (such as srimech)
-Switches: Enter (then Right Shift if needed)
-Extra Analog: V and N (usually used in production as opposed to combat)
Besides using keyboards, I've also used...
-My iTouch with the Jumi Controller app
-A Wiimote
-A PS2-style controller
-An XBOX 360 remote
-A Razer Nostromo keypad
-
-A Razer Nostromo keypad
How good is it?

Performance: 7/10
Although it is extremely comfortable, I find my hand sliding into positions that make certain buttons harder to reach at any one time. I also find myself wishing that the 8-way directional thumb pad was an analog (it basically has 8 buttons that are either off or on with no combinations or fractions thereof). I also think being able to push in the thumb pad's center as an additional button would have made things more fluid at times (such as when using it as a mouse).
Appearance: 9/10
In terms of appearance, the backlight is turned on by a switch in the back and is limited to the color blue (which wouldn't bother me if it weren't for the Red, Green, and Blue LEDs that indicate the control mode).
For RA2, its kind of nice to have easy access to all the buttons using one hand but it seems pointless when my other hand isn't doing anything (there really isn't much need for the mouse when doing human vs AI battles). I see it being more useful in FPS and MMORPGs than in racing or combat games.

Maybe I'll consider it. Thanks!
What about the Jumi Controller app?
-
What about the Jumi Controller app?
More specifically, I purchased JumiGAMER. When it comes to iTouch apps, this is probably one of my favorites. It works well for my needs and is highly customizable on the PC end. I usually use it for controlling my PC and music but the webcam and game controllers are fun to mess with.
Appearance: 10/10
It looks sleek while you look geeky. The game controller interface has 10 buttons, 1 scroller, and depending on the mode, an analog directional pad or a 4-way(?) directional pad w/gyros.
Performance: 8/10
Although RA2 supports everything out of the box, I ended up using GlovePIE to make the gyros less sensitive (I think AutoHotkey would also work for this purpose). The controller is capable of using a directional pad instead of the gyros, if you so choose but IMO it isn't as much fun. As with other wireless controllers, there is a slightly longer delay between movements. Sadly, it is also limited to wireless networks (no Bluetooth) so it isn't the ideal solution for online gaming.
-
Neat! I may actually sell one of my controllers that I don't use anymore.

The tea-drinking ponce. =P
What? What did you call me? :laughing
