Dsl soccer tournament IDEA

i think we should have a football (soccer for americans) tourney
it would be DSL
middleweight class
no damaging parts
no cheatbot2 or custom parts
 
THIS IS AN IDEA because i dont know how to AI

to my knollege it wouldn`t  work cause the AI would attack each other an won`t go after the ball.

How would we make them push the ball into the goal instead of just attacking each other?

ther`s the shell of that round bot (forgott its name) it was used by sonny once. that couldmaybe work as a ball.

yeah that one I was thinking about.
but even if there is that ball the bot`s wont push it in a goal. they just would push it random throug the arena.

I don`t know. but it may could work with the King of the Hill style. It worked for the drag arena.

I don`t think that will work.
you said both bots will be in the same team. but team members start next to each other in this arena not head to head. so both will run towards the same goal.

they could be manual control mebbe by using multiplayer

I absolutly won`t destroy that idea but multiplayer is hard. 1. it laggs and 2. the time There are for example 7 houres differents between Australia and germany. I think even more between USA and germany.

Instead of making things overly complicated, it would be possible to make the Arena control the movements of each bot or use custom AI tactics that would make the bots play soccer rather than attack each other.

For the custom soccer arena: Depending on how many community members want to participate, I would be willing to write up some coding for the Arena to control the movement of AI bots. Doing things this way would result in less lag but it would be less accurate than separate AI.py files. 

For the custom AI files: I have actually written up rules for a programming tournament that would require teams to make their own soccer playing AI. It could take place before a basic soccer tournament (that way, there would be several choices of AI.py files that would specialize in different things) or I could alter the programming tournament a little to include more community involvement (it already allows some non-programmer involvement). Another idea would be to make one AI tactic that could be used for all soccer bots made by the community.

If there is enough support for this, I would be willing to code/host anything necessary to get this thing off the ground.
