BBEANS5 Rules and Registration
« Reply #180 on: March 23, 2009, 07:28:25 PM »
Well, I'm willing to send one in, if I can.  I'm sure there are several other people who also want(ed) to be in the contest, too.  I think we can pull a 64-bracket out of this if a few more people send in entries.....

A 32 bot tourney would be less messy & all, but I think it'd be nice if we let the members who didn't have a chance to get in to play.

That's all right; given that the next BBEANS seems to be DSL LWs (something I love making), I can always enter next time.

Whadaya say, Click?  If we can somehow get enough people, are you willing to blow it out to a 64 tourney, and make BBEANS5 the biggest tourney so far?

I would propose having everybody send their bots, and we see how many that Click gets, and go from there. But this is all up to Click. And he was right, you guys did have a long time to get ready.

EDIT: I can count at least 8 other people who want to do this. I think that we should maybe try to expand it. But it is Click's choice, and I respect his decision (mostly because I sent my bot early and got my entry in)

What? 32 more people wanted to be in BBEANS 5? Only 10 or so missed out. That is not enough, now shut up and go away.

Hey, Dex, do the letters "F.O" mean anything to you............?  If you're going to act like an asshole, be prepared to be treated like one.  And I don't recall your name being changed to "Click".

Like Somebody said, it's Click's decision to expand it, or cut it off right at 32.  I also respect R1885 that, true, we had plenty of time, and just didn't make the deadline.  Me, I think it would be fun making it larger, but ultimately, the choice is Click's.

Spyguy, look at the BBEANS4 brackets. Notice that there wasn't a SINGLE bye? Why is that? BECAUSE IT HAD 32 ENTRANTS. Take a look at the BBEANS3 brackets. Why was there so many byes? Because it had 44 entrants and not 32 or 64.

Now, do you want this to be another BBEANS 3? Or do you want it like BBEANS 4 where the bracket was perfect? If Click decides to expand the bracket to 64 and only gets 10 or so entrants it would be BBEANS 3 all over again.

I really do not care. I was just saying I would enter IF he decided to expand it. I was not asking it to be expanded.
Any comments would be appreciated. :D

Just leave the brackets how they are. 32 is perfect for something like this.

note to click i am considering using up my robot switch, i've got a rather nasty hw i fixed up. you have all seen the basic model of it but now its even more devastating :)

and i prefer no byes cause no one misses out on watching their bot in action.. and having 64 entries just means more work needs to be done and we will have too wait much longer for vids and for the tourney to start.

Fine.  I didn't make it on time.

This isn't worth arguing over - I've got plenty more headaches IRL to worry about without adding this into the mix.

*sigh* Have fun, guys, if things are looking better for me by then, maybe I'll catch BBEANS 6 .....

I count eight people that are entered that I know nothing about. If there is even one Spinner From the West entry, I'm going to be pissed because vets like Inf and SD that have spent so much time contributing to the RA2 community got snubbed in favour of any noobs that thought that it might be kind of neat to enter their first tourney.

I suggest that priority should be given in future to builders that have participated in at least one tournament before (in other words, keep the entries from the first-timers as reserves, and allow vets to have spot priority over them). BBEANS should be the pinnacle of bot-building supremacy, and the best should be allowed every opportunity to compete.

I can see why Inf, Scrap and SG are mad. CB did say that the deadline was March 31st, so I think that they should have until then to submit bots.

Exactly my opinion.
