I imagine it was because people were going a little bit nuts with it. I was at +47, for crying out loud. Something's wrong when I have a higher rep than Clickbeetle. =]

I think we had the discussion about resetting the rep a while back, and we decided that it'd just end up more or less the same after a few months, and it'd have to be reset again.
