Practice making cardboard mockups if you can't do them straight away, it's worth it once you can get a good mockup done and already have good measurements for an aw shell at the ready.

Right, Update time!

-haz is selling me lighter servos, and hopefully I can buy them today
-soon I'll be getting some equipment to help build my robot
-and I've ordered quite a big sheet of 1mm thick HDPE as when I build the proper final design, I will need all the materials I can get, but it hasn't arrived and I've been waiting 5 days 
-Lastly, cardboard mockup will be done soon when I find the time and get the inspiration

Just wondering, is arduino compatible with any remote control? Cause for Christmas I'm getting an arduino and wondering whether I could program it to follow commands from my controller

you can but it's kinda pointless unless you are trying to make things harder. spongepizzatronparty is controlled with an arduino/xbee combo and a local wifi network.
