So I have some sad news to report. My source of drive motors (Harbor Freight 18v drill motors) dried up. I don't have any spares so as of now I have no way of maintaining three robots through one event so currently I'm debating about pulling Shish, and DoorStop and only running Phoenix unless I can find some replacements. I don't have money for dewalts or banebots gearboxes so don't suggest them.

Stats I'm looking for for the motors are 550 RPM after the gearbox, 18v,  size RS550 motor, single speed

The motors looked like this and the drills looked like this if you see anything like that drill in a store PM me with the details; brand, store, ect.
This looks like it may be exact-

Not exact, but the GB dimensions may be right on these-

http://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/cordless-drills/18-volt-cordless-4-tool-combo-pack-90374.html is the same price as the last one, and has a bunch of extra tools, looks to have the older style drill as well.

So I have some good news and some bad news...

The good news, today I was able to make 3 1/2 FrankenmotorsTM from other broken gearboxes and motors.  I also have two other spare motors. The bad news is they are coming from DoorStop so unless something else happens, DoorStop wont be at the Franklin.

Question: Your flipper; how does it get under things with that extremely high wedge?

It only gets under it with the tongue on the front, then gives it a ludicrously powerful pop, tossing it high into the air.

Thanks for answering that question in simple terms NFX.

I found more motors. The guy who made Minifridge is selling me some.

Good, but could be better with some changes

Compare that to Explosion:

(Remember you have the bigger ram)

That's what a buffer tank does, I would seriously consider trying to stick one in there

But flow is limited by the smallest dia component of a pneumatic system. I run 1/4" id plumbing so how does adding essentially a larger dia plumbing improve the flow when it is still only going through 1/4" tubing to get to the ram? I don't understand.

Also this was at 600psi, not a full 850psi.

Explosion's arm also goes farther. Phoenix's doesn't have a whole lot of travel.
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

A good portion of the difference is a geometry/physics issue brought about by the whole "no wedges" rule for the sportsman class.

What a buffer does is give the liquid more room to turn into the gas, vastly improving the power

Right now you'll be getting liquid in the ram

Bwahaha!  I never realized how much that looks like a mobile boxing ring until now.

Phoenix, now with decals and a swish cheesed flipper arm.

Also I've got some fun alternate armor configurations for Shish for next weekend. I removed the siphon tube from the CO2 bottle on Phoenix so now it doesn't draw as much liquid CO2, theoretically allowing the main tank to act like a "buffer tank" allowing the gas to expand before going into the ram.
