Team FutureTech
« on: September 08, 2012, 10:09:03 AM »
Meh, i'm thinking of making a Robotics Team.
My first robot will be coming on Oct. 29 ( I think )
BTW, My Combot's name is going to be Trinitrotoluene.
Here's probably what the chassis is going to be like.

HURRAH FOR THIN WHEELS!

You're thinking of Combots too, correct?
Can you make your bot description a little less vague?

Any reason for that date? You're missing three major events by less than a month and combots by less than a week...

Well, Oct. 29 is my Birthday, and i'll be 11 by that. And my Grandpa Larry will get me my Bot by then.
I hope that Trinitrotoluene doesn't get it it Rear End handed to it.

Wait...so someone else is building the bot for you? I am already thoroughly confused.

More importantly, do you have any experience in what you're doing? What weight class are you going for? What is the weapon supposed to be, a flipper, lifting arm, ramming bar? Tentacle? (+1 for whoever gets the reference there.)

Hold on there, cowboy(?), what kind of robot do you want to build? What weight class? How much money are you willing to spend?

Ok, so we know what kind of robot it is. Fyi, 30 kg is over weight for a LW. Is it a true flipper like Chaos2, or a misidentified lifter like Wedge of Doom? Can we see a quick parts list?

Hmm. 4 BaneBots PDX16 - 16:1 Gearmotors.  2 9-Volts. A Arduro Mini, Brass Armour, 4 5 Inch BattleKit Robot Wheel - 28-Tooth Sprockets and a Brass Wedge. I haven't decided what Burst Motor that i'm gonna use.
@R1885: It's a True Flipper.

you know you play RA2 too much when...

Brass sucks as armor. Its too soft. Try steel

Also you don't need battlekits wheels. All you need are the Banebots hex hub wheels and Banebots hex hubs

also looking over your parts list... you don't need an arduino.

and what are the two 9 volts for?

I've been using this RX and this transmitter for about a year now without any problems.

Since you are missing a battery to drive the bot, a lot of guys use this battery and this charger.

A pair of these esc's would work in your proposed drivetrain.

As for burst motors, they don't exist... and there is no way you would be safe to learn about pneumatics so stay away from a flipper for now.
