Your advice is crap. Never use servos for drive.
If you want cheap drive motors, try BaneBots.

What about putting on a hybrid drivetrain? One pair of servos for pushing power and one pair of high speed drive motors for speed.

Edit: and i'm going to try and implement this in DSL as well...

You might as well use two big ass motors and gear'em down.
Good luck with that in DSL.

I built an arena for a competition at walts hobby. To my excitement Buster Blade was fighting there. Also since it was in syracuse the robot Final destiny was showcased there. Anyway Joeblo, if you want to make an arena for a fairly low price acrylic sheets are the way to go.

no robots and acrylic do not mix in any way once so ever, not as frames, armor, and definitely not as protrction. acrylic shatters upon impact and you'll end up wasting money and not safe. if you want to make a 4x4 fairy box build it like antweight world series's box, 1/8" poly isn't to expensive and if your going to build and arena you should build it right

The acrylic sheet I got was only $40 and it was an inch thick and it can withstand anything.
