dude... buy 2 servos, buy a rx and tx, and make a wedge bot instead of a lego rc car w/ wedge.
What about putting on a hybrid drivetrain? One pair of servos for pushing power and one pair of high speed drive motors for speed.
Edit: and i'm going to try and implement this in DSL as well...
What kind of competions?
The axle: Buy new one.
what is the larger one ? reminds me of a trampoline lolit is a trampoline
but no one would use it and i havent gotten
Anyway Joeblo, if you want to make an arena for a fairly low price acrylic sheets are the way to go.no robots and acrylic do not mix in any way once so ever, not as frames, armor, and definitely not as protrction. acrylic shatters upon impact and you'll end up wasting money and not safe. if you want to make a 4x4 fairy box build it like antweight world series's box, 1/8" poly isn't to expensive and if your going to build and arena you should build it right

I will revive this Thread, because I'm now thinking seriously to build a robot. What I'm gonna do is build 450g wedge robot, to Finnish Robot Combat tournament. All I currently have is 4 metal pieces, 125g each, I would use one panel in the bot, and the rest will be kept until the wedge breaks up. Now what I need are the rest, Batterys, Servos, Team name etc. Also I think I'll use Lego wheels in it, because they're quite common in RobosotaRobot Name-Dolan
So... Where I could get the best parts to robots? And do you guys have any name suggestions to my Team?
A good place for robot combat parts is Robot Marketplace.Speaking of Robot Marketplace, anyone know what those HW Battlekits they sell are like? If they're good enough, I may consider building something out of one.
A good ESC is the SaberTooth 5. It handles more current than the Tiny Escs, has in built mixing, and costs a little bit less than them, but both have a proven track record so take your pick.
Gold sparks are awesome, but silver sparks are even better. If you're short on weight, the KG17 will work.
Lite Flites are awesome, use finger tech hubs to mount them.
A good cheap radio is the Hobby King HK-6. If your willing to pay a bit more for the programming cable, you'll have a decent radio with the ability to mix. If you want the best radio for the price, the Airtronics SD-5G is a good option, costs about as much as the Spektrum Dx5e, but is vastly superior.
Rhino Li-polys are the cheapest I found, but Turnigy also makes good Li-pos for a good price. A123 batteries, however, are the best by far, if you can find a supplier, get them!
If you want a good servo for the price, the HXT 6.9 Kg offers a good price, and has decent speed and torque.
They come from the guy that built Biohazard, if you don't mind lots of screws, they will work.

Ah, that sounds good- I'll remember that. If I can come into some Sponduli (About 2500 British Pounds for the best options), I think it'll definitely be worth considering. They come from the guy that built Biohazard, if you don't mind lots of screws, they will work.

I will build fleaweights, so I need light and good motors... and batteries... and whatever bot needs. Never tried to build one yet.Neither have I, but to tell the truth, I've always wanted to build robots. I've driven Heavyweights before, but never built one.

Dunno if RobotMarketplace delivers to Finland, Dunno if any robotics site does really...Yes it does. Read it from the Robosota forums.
don't bloody bother. think i might have made this point before but i wouldn't spend my money one one of them, especialy not for the uk style of fighting.Ah, that sounds good- I'll remember that. I think it's mainly its options for good motors and batteries, backwards compatibility with other internal parts (So I could buy it without the apparently not-so-good Ampflow controller, which makes up a good portion of the price, and get a comparable Vantec/RoboteQ controller or something instead), bulletproof, BioHazard-esque drivetrain, build quality and adapability to design that appeals to me most, but I'll have a think on either of my options when the time comes for me to build.don't bloody bother. think i might have made this point before but i wouldn't spend my money one one of them, especialy not for the uk style of fighting.Ah, that sounds good- I'll remember that. Amp-flow motors provide some of the best power to weight ratios period, the A28-150 motor has a peak of three full horsepower, in less that four pounds.Ah, OK. I'm not that knowledgable on certain parts you see, so advice is great to have.
Couldn't think any better name for my team...Well, good to see your support for LGBT rights, then :approve:

He's implying the rainbow is closely linked to the LGBT community and gay pride.Couldn't think any better name >.<'Glad to see you've come out though.
It's a good name. Although you're sort of locked into making any robots on the team FABULOUS now.Or if we're going for references, the Rainbow Warrior?
