Razor would grab his opponent and not let go while parading around with the other bot stuck to razors weapon.

and ? :P the point is to beat your opponent, they can do whatever they want.

they had rules which they followed for grappling but they were allowed to lift as much as they wanted.

Rock beats scissors though ;D

not always, but i guess that depends on the steel quality of the scissors and the geology of the rock =P

anyway least favorite robots for me would have to be anything over 60 pounds that had no real direction or planed out design for the build. the reason i say this is that i cant believe how many people that spend an upwards of 5k to build a HW that usually breaks under its own weight, let along the stress of combat

Tough as Nails was amazing. Probably one of the most innovative and greatest designs ever to grace the Robot Wars arena. How can you hate it?

TaN looked great... it's just really an horizontal razer.

though I dislike the pit as a match decider ... I wouldnt say cheap... it still took very good driving efforts to win matches... it wasnt as easy as winning with a SnS Crawler in the Combat Zone when versing a pop up.

@Nary.. try Kan Opener for a horizontal Razer.. TaN was really a clamp more then a crusher

TAN uses pneumatics, razer uses hydraulics
I know because TAN still comes to roaming robots to this day

no if you ask me the damaging reason for retirement and 13 Black doesnt add up

sure there was a lot of superficial damage done and it knocked the drive chain out but IIRC the chassis was the write off so I would blame Psycho hammering away at it when it was flipped over

That's why I don't like the Housebots, they had too much control over the matches.

Innovative? INNOVATIVE?! It was just more or less an oversized pair of tongs on wheels.

Where else in Robot Wars had there been a robot designed to grab and pit?

Well it was Panic Attacks main way of winning. And panic attack was always my favourite.

I can't remember tough as nails though, looking it up now.

Edit:Ah yes i remember that $#@+!%& now, I'd thought that panic attack had retired after that gold robot incident.
Then i saw the battle between it and TaN and got excited to see my favourite robot back in competition.
Atleast he was defeated with honour...

Well it wasn't really designed to flip either.
It was designed to get under robots and lift and push them into hazards such as the pit of oblivion.
