Maybe, but it's how you implement it that matters- an expert driver with a basic robot is more likely to win than a novice with the latest technological marvel.

you seem to think that just because every bot in the uk is a flipper that every driver there is miraculously better than the USA. There are different drivers everywhere and saying that one country has better drivers than the other is just plain stupid.

The lack of arenas with OOTA potential has driven American builders away from the flipper design.  In addition, your pictures are anything but a fair comparison, one is current, the other outdated; one is a featherweight, the other a heavy.

In America, out arenas aren't OOTA'ble so people who are balsy enough to go for a flipper design go all out. Take Ziggy for example.

It is not the way they look that makes UK flippers better, it is the scenario. It is the fact that in the UK, the only remotely successful spinners were, Hypnodisk, Typhoon, and Warhead (competed in America) because the arena gives a better advantage to flippers and the fact that there aren't many HW spinners in the UK.

also people from the uk are just going to vote for uk and likewise for USA so this is pointless

Uk is probably more skilled with it, but a lot of the bots look the same. We're more creative IMO.

But seriously, IMO US flippers are better, but both have their pros and cons.

US:

Pros: Tougher, showier, Easier to get under things (flat lip vs 45 degree wedge), each one is more unique)

Cons: Not as cool-looking, not as effective in US arenas, outclassed by rammers and spinners

UK

Pros: Don't have to worry about spinners mostly so they can splurge on power w/o needing too much armor, Cooler-looking IMO, more effective in UK arenas

Cons: Harder to get under stuff, weaker in terms of armor, most are cookie-cutter nowadays (Explosion, LF2 or whatever number it is now, Iron Awe 9001, Tilly 2 Evo, etc.)

IIRC they banned HW spinners a while ago, need someone from the UK to check for me though :P

That's right, they have just one arena, so they have to be able to break it down and cart all over England, consequentially it can't be as sturdy as they'd like.

It'd be nice if they had big commercial sponsors like in the US.
