Kinda feels like the hall of fame has lost purpose.. seeing robots like Razer and Chaos 2 along with robots that "just competed last weekend" doesnt seem right to me..

Nothing against you Vertigo, good job getting in but I feel there is many missed past robots that made milestones..

Gotta agree with Joe. There are some bots I've never seen or heard before.

Yeah, I'm in agreement with Joe here. Just seems so odd.

I understand what you mean Joe. I've thought about it myself before and the reason is basically because it is so less well known than it used to be and as a result the few remaining communities of roboteers have "split off" (meaning there are far less international connections than there used to be).

I don't know of most of the American robots because I don't follow roboteering in America that much (have to spend too much time focusing on roboteering over here!). Similarly everyone in America won't know many of the robots over here, so the initial reaction is to question why a robot that you don't consider famous got inducted. That's why I'm so honored to get Explosion inducted, as a considerable amount of American/Australian roboteers value a robot that essentially has nothing to do with them enough to vote for it! (God know's why).

I all depends really what you consider to be the definition of famous that the hall of fame should run by. Either how well known/valued a robot is within the entire population of the planet or how well known/valued a robot is among the people who actually care about roboteering.

Mission, next year get on of MikeNCR's bots in, I'm sure we have significant influence over the results.
Better than GK since 2009.
I think SM is a pretty cool guy, eh builds unicycle-bots and doesn't afraid of anything

I feel that roboteers should be inducted rather than bots. For the UK heavyweights, they're mostly flippers and are mostly same basic design.

Best I can tell, this forum swings about 8% to 12% of the votes that came in. Influential, but not dominating. "Eruption' and 'Explosion' got major support from the FRA forum; 'Ziggy' has been on the edge of membership for quite a while, and 'Upheaval' got a LOT of votes from NERC. I consider all of these 'bots to be entirely deserving of the recognition they received.

It has become more difficult to follow both US and UK competitions, but if you take the time to watch some videos of the new inductees you'll see why they drew so many votes.

Thanks for your votes and continued support of the Hall.

I don't understand, are there any still competing robots that do deserve in? I mean yes, definitely admire Razer and Chaos 2 for the precedents they set, but we've come a long way from them.

ah I knew someone would get the wrong end of the stick..

I never at any point said they dont deserve to be in..

just that current popularity is swaying votes away from past legends that helped shape robot combot, I mean in many sports you have to be retired before you can be nominated for the hall of fame?

Explosion will probably become a legend when it retires anywho..

I was just openly expressing my opinion, not telling you to change anything, so no need to get all defensive :P

It was successful, but did it pioneer anything? Was it something new and creative?

I was going to vote for Explosion, Pussycat and Roadblock but I couldn't due to my desperation to clear Final Fantasy 9 before tech started plus I couldn't be arsed.

Anyways Its a bit late to but congrats Verts and heres hope Eruption makes it fully next time.
