I feel like some people are mistaking acting for the cameras as real life. You can't act all nicey-nice when you're doing stuff like that ;)
This...
You mean the guy who asks the other team for permission to keep hitting their robots after they're dead?
...and this.

People don't seem to realize that not everybody watching the show is or was a fan of robotics. They want to reel in new viewers, and acting edgy and badass in a competition like this is what the producers and new viewers want to see. Ratings have been decent, meaning there are a lot of new viewers and their tactics are working out.
Oh I'll be doing some banging.......

I know he's acting, but I still don't like him.

Bit harsh, quick to judge. But that's you.

Anyway, seem as though Ray's been posting in this thread, perhaps he can shed some light onto the persona? Was it encouraged by ABC?

ABC (and really any network for any competition show) needed someone to be the villain. This person needs to have enough attitude to pull it off, but also needs to be able to back up the talk. At any event I am the nicest guy you will ever meet - you need help with your bot and I will jump right in. You need tools? You can borrow mine. You need parts? If I can spare them I will. But once those arena doors close it is time to get serious, and I will do my very best to win the match. If someone ever beats me, it is because they absolutely deserved to.

I think I gave them what they wanted, and of course there has been some creative editing to enhance it. Truthfully though, I think the show has displayed just the right amount of 'out of arena' drama, while showing the 'in the arena' competition. It's always a dicey compromise to make, and certainly people will always find faults. I'm just hoping the ratings stay good enough that we can keep playing. And I'll probably still be the villain next season :)

I gave an audible "wha?" when they called you "the villain."  My first thought was that Blondie was having some trouble reading the word "Billings."

It'll be like a stock match. Two machines dedicated to destruction ripping each other apart.

I'd much rather see a match like that instead of something that was designed to take a beating and still go like Stinger or Bite Force. It's why I like god of war- (nearly) immortal beings beating the ever loving snot out of one another is exhilarating.

I dunno about that.  Sure the late hit didn't cause any damage, but  it's really bad manners.  The same can be said for snubbing a handshake, so I'd say they're even.

I'd like to see Ray and Derek Young have a bad-guy-pissing-match.

Complete Controlololo vs Tomb "It's not if I win, it's when I win!" Stone

Note: I mean no disrespect to either of the bots or the teams of the bots. It's just they painted Derek as a gudfernuffin loopholer, and Ray as a 'ohoho who am I going to eat today' type of guy, and I think those sort of personalities clashing would be interesting.

Cool to see Toro and T-Minus' shells still intact!
Yeah I saw that earlier, pretty cool. And do you have a picture of Rocket?

It has the weapons, it will depend on if Ghost Raptor will be able to survive the hits, to be able to push Icewave around or not.
You search and search for something, never realizing it is within and always has been.
You can not find it, you can not understand it, you simply accept, and believe, and it will grow.

For me it all depends on whether or not Glass Raptor has that (sh**ty) spinner back. Since it's adjustable, it might be able to hit the ICE powering IceWave's bar. If not or the spinner doesn't have the reach, it'll be an easy win for IceWave.

The fight I'm looking forward to is Bronco vs Stinger, that'll be really close. I'd like to see Bronco take it but I think Stinger will since that wedge looks more... wedgy than Bronco's flipper.

My thoughts exactly. If it goes well then it should be the best match of the competition.

... words ...
From the point of view of a total outsider (well, at least mine), you have pulled of the “chaotic neutral” attitude quite well on camera. If that was your goal, keep it up. I sure enjoyed every single “one more?” so far :D.
