It made it look like Overhaul couldn't self right and would have lost if the match lasted longer, which I feel like had a big boost for Lockjaw in the judges decision as Overhaul had pretty much controlled the fight up until that point.

While that is a fair point, something happening after a match should not affect their decision of the match.

That's partially it, the other side of it is that just because a robot doesn't look like it can do damage doesn't mean that it won't do damage. In this case, no obvious damage was done. The right thing to do was say "hey, my bad, sorry" and it looks like that's exactly what happened, after the initial in-arena conversation. You spend $5-10k and hundreds of hours on a bot and see if you're not a bit pissed at first when someone takes a free shot on it after the bell.

While that is a fair point, something happening after a match should not affect their decision of the match.

While true, it's very difficult for people to completely ignore something they've just seen and the late hit likely did to at least some extent influence the scoring. Not a knock against the judges, mind you, that's more of a "how the human brain works" issue. The last 15 seconds of a match tends to influence scores to a far greater extent than the first 15 seconds. Just so happened most of the last 15 seconds continued past the buzzer.

that's cool. I was pretty pissed they didn't air all the fights, but its makes sense not to show boring ones. Normal people would't wanna see them, but we savages need all the fights we can get.

I'm always so paranoid that the drivers are going to see the site and take offense, even though as far as I know that hasn't exactly happened yet,

Also, I'll probably stick around here to chatter about BattleBots as opposed to /r/battlebots. While the articles I write are well-received all around, I just get the vibe that the community there doesn't actually like me all that much.

I can tell you that most bot builders don't take offense too easily, and I personally enjoy reading your.....reflections on the sport :) But then again, I am easily entertained!
