So it looks as if there's a hell of a lot more substance to it than the previous Robot Combat on TV revival that never came to fruition. Genuinely looking forward to it.

Screw it. Its battlebots. Its robot combat on my TV. Its on Prime Time TV, Greg and Ed have control, and the guys who helpd work on some of TV's most popular shows are there to make it look good. It got trending on FB and got 4.5k upvotes on Reddit. I feel this has a lot of potential.

Unlike Robogeddon, ABC has already announced the show, and has even sent invites out. And so what if the bots arent fantastic. If its good, we'll see more of it. 6 episodes is not terrible for a pilot season, and the weight class thing DOES Seem sketchy, but I feel its probably well set in likely no tiny ass bots due to invitations.

Im suprised nobody mentioned Donald Hudson, who everyone seems to damn know, and always love bringing his badass bots to the screens.

Hopefully we get more news on this soon. Im really hyped.

we're all hyped. we're just afraid it's going to be 90% drama/backstories with 10% lackluster fights. Like Robot Combat League.

but still, the fact that it's coming back is good enough for me. Would love to see what kind of monsters the technology of today can create

Was talking to one of the members of Team LOGICOM (and can only assume Brian Nave's son) about what the team was planning on doing after their fights at STEM Tech Olympiad on Reddit. And I quote he said

"If it were up to me, I would love to. However, my dad is getting older (and lazier with age) and doesn't really want to keep working on bots. I have offered to take over to keep the team alive but he always just comes back with a snide remark.

do not know if I'm allowed to tell people, his up coming plans with the return of battlebots, but just keep your eyes out"

At least it's happening. I just want to see it back on TV. I'll make my judgments on it after I see an episode or two.

I'm hoping it's somewhat like the new version of Myth Busters where it's mostly about building and science, and then with the implementation at the end as the reward.

it'd be cool if the veteran builders were there not so much as to compete, but to be there as technical advisers like dan danknick

Honestly, having multiple weight classes in the original battlebots sort of made me lose track that it was a tournament when I grew up watching it. That's sort of what made Robot Wars more appealing; it was that you knew where you were in the scope of the competition. I hope Battlebots would pay more attention in that way, emphasizing what point in the tournament and organize a seeding for hopefully future seasons.

I just realized. If this kicks off like I think it will and they open it up to everyone, I may be able to compete in a year or two :D

I hope so. On Battlebots' FB, the owner of Spiked Punch, Atomic Wedgie, and Mechavore all commented on wanting to get back in the sport.

I really hope this turn out to be good but with the way most TV is these days I worried they're going to make it mostly fluff and song and dance where they try and make it a bit comedic. However if its on ABC I think they'll do good as long as they keep sport first, everything else second. Looking forward to seeing what the new BattleBox will look like.

I hear they're just reusing the set from that other show starring heavyweight automatons—According the Jim.
