Hello again, Like the challenge board we came up with some ideas for the tournament section and possible ways to streamline the system. Again, these where discussed in the Orc's Wars discord and the GTM one a tad later. Now it's here to allow those who haven't seen it to provide some imput.

Tourney section idea:

Rule discussion etc - Like it's current status, this is for refining rules and making changes before heading into signups
Ongoing Tournies - This is for ongoing tournies, this includes signups with the SBV's. This seems to be a rather effective way of doing things as shown by Orc's Wars and Destruction Evolution.
Close Entry Tournies - For tournies that contain pre-determined entries. However, these could be relegated to off-topic maybe, as they're pretty rare and usually gain little traction.

Similar to the old system, but possibly more efficient, and more clearer on naming

After sharing the idea with the GTM discord, Philippa inquired about whether it would be a single thread that moved across each section or one post per thread pertaining to each subject, these are both possible, in my own opinion, the former would seem a lot more streamlined, but can result in majorly lengthy threads that could be avoided with the later.

Another point made, was awards and incentives, awards are currently something we are looking into, but we don't think it's enough, even with the Mega Host title. We're open to suggestions, maybe enabling common hosts into the Advanced user rank might be a way to doing it, but we'd like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

I want to be able to remove stress of hosting 'official' tournies, whilst giving players a reason to make 'official' tournies over the current personal tournies. Thank you all for reading, it really does mean a lot.

Site News and Feedback / The Challenge Board - Possible Improvement.
« on: July 14, 2018, 11:25:11 AM »
Hi all, decided to share the ideas we've had for the challenge board, these have been discuss in the Orc's Wars discord and the GTM discord. Now for those who haven't seen it, here was the initial plan I had.

The challenge board could be reverted into the old title system, to prevent large amounts of different titles being everywhere, I suggest it being HW only and split into 4 metas, DSL-S, IF, Stock and DSL-IRL.
These work as a king of the hill esque infinite tourney, we can implement leaderboards into this either per user, or per bot, in how many victories they've had etc. This led to mentions of giving "Legendary" status to some users or bots, if they've met the required number of wins.
Due to the mention of IRL, I'm sure you all have questions of the legitimacy of creating this sub section to the challenge board. We've come up with a few solutions to this, a. Imposing disclaimers that, "Your bot may have been accepted before, but due to the subjectivity of the meta, it can be rejected at any point", we chose this over a rule set as we felt that it'd be difficult to convert IRL builders to this mindset and overall counter intuitive to the meta. Following this, Orc had an idea to have an almost co-host to the challenge that would allow several opinions to be made, providing a fair evaluation on the bot, this is most likely to be notible builders. Finally, an arguement can be made that people will "tryhard" to win, but given that isn't what the meta is I feel that users aren't going to be making these poor tryhard bots with that intention.

Following this, there was an idea presented by geese, instead to have the each meta become the same weightclass, but it cycles every month, this would remove the possibility of having "Legendary bot" status.

A variation focus on the bot more compared to the builder was prototyped by Gulden, here's that.

This makes it so that it's a display on the bots itself, rather than the builders, this could also work for the rotational weightclass as it would just be the bot that won the previous challenge in that weightclass. However, this could create issues to do with too many titles that would be floating around the forums associated with the challenge belt.

I think the issue with Fuzz and Buzz is that it is more apparent that it's made of basic shapes, seemingly lacking a proper flow to the machine.
I agree, they were a little rushed and I might try and make some better versions at some point

Please do, they have huge potential

For a house robot I'd suggest more chunky hammers maybe using 30kg sledges with 2 lightning spikes either side to form an 8 point star and then add counterweights at the bottom, maybe those could be sledges themselves to fit the look and with a thicker arm width.

Sea demon's weapon motor is just massively too exposed for my liking. I'd also suggest attempting to make the whole thing lower, this would give you a better chance of hitting flatter machines.

Cornet V. It's certainly nice, just really needs some side panels, you have all the motors exposed, even if it's just in polycarb.

Shred head. Looks fine, but Idk who'd accept a bot with Shred shells given it's a cb2 component iirc. I'd also like to see a better shot of the components.

I'll either make or send over something pre-existing for the rumble

Also, judging seems rather odd, given it's made up of 6 points in total, it appears from looking at it that it can and in a draw? Mind explaining it further?

You realise allowing people to edit their bot between rounds is ridiculous? Especially with AWs where there is little chassis variety.

Even it being stock really limits the adjustments you can make before the rount

Other than the fact that the teeth are off center and the DSL disk is only on one side of the drum, that is awesome.

This, also, it's rather longer than it needs to be. But that might be me

Love it definatley adds more character

Thanks, I got the idea of the music video "Wolf - SIAMES". The wolfs eyes give a good shape for it and colour.

Rykon is absolute sex.

Maybe if the decal was in black it would stand out a little more?

Thank you, I'll give the all back decal a go, it'd definitely make it much readable.

Having a single extender supporting a huge, exposed dual perm is pretty iffy

Agreed. Probably drop the teeth number down for weight; other than that, they both look sick

Uh, this in its current state isnt irl. youll be needing more support to the weapon, ideally in a V shape. You also have too many batteries. 2 red bats are enough for the machin even with all motors constantly on. Try to reduce your chassis size as much as you can, it saves weight and eables you to put that weight into more important things. Id finally recommend using perm132s on perm80s, more powerful and better suited for the weight class.

Hope I could be of assistance.
