sure, at least we won't have any arguments about "it's too tryhard" or "it's not realistic" when this game is one of the worst if you really want to play a realistic robot combat sim

you're actually a madman, or smart to evade IRL and all the grey area bullsh** surrounding it, not sure this but HW could be decent 84

i don't think people give a sh** about the fact they work IRL, they just think it's ugly and so will state it, IRL is more about looks that just following realism anyway, personally i don't have much issues with it, this setup is certainly better than using skirts

i mean RA2 is still deweapon war, online play or not, so more weapons isn't really a bad idea

so, as [cringey name goes here]'s bot maker for Centauri, i asked him what he wanted as a design, answer was HS/Pusher hybrid, and here are 3 bots i made that could fill the bill:
![]() HW-Scrappy Hammerhead, you saw this before, hammers are more of a plan B here for if the spinner breaks ![]() HW-Scrap Mulcher, meant to trap you between the spinners and slowly grind your front corners and sides down while i shove you around, sledges are essentially damaging front armor ![]() HW-Depressive Force, Crippling Depression was an inspiration for this one, basically a tough pushing box with an undercutting disc to slide under ground clearances and hit wheels among other things, but because this is RA2 a.k.a "get a wedge or eat sh**", unlike the real one, this thing has skirts on it 95

more online bots, can i just say that online building is surpisingly fun cause of just how many new things you can **** around with
![]() attempt at a HS build for online, basically if the disc gets torn off i can use the wedge + hammers to finish deweaponing the opponent or just smash them into the arena walls and hasards ![]() so the idea here is to just pin the top contraption against someone to saw into their wheels and side panels, unfortunately, the entire thing shakes like **** when the spinners are on cause the servo axle is too weak, guess it'd be easier to just make this a side hammer ![]() more strafe drive ****ery, this setup works wonders and allows for movement in 8 directions, the idea here was to swerve around the opponent and use the poker to snipe wheels and other critical areas, but the build is too barebones defense wise to be effective next thing to be experimented with: walkers and gyroscopic procession 97

if any of you are afraid to enter cause you're not good at IF-S, i offer my services to build an entry for you, just discord message me with whatever design you have in mind and i'll see what i can do

Discussion / Competitive Realistic: a new meta project« on: July 08, 2018, 04:39:14 PM »
well, i guess it's time to finally bring this out, SO about a month ago Avalanche thought of making a meta that was pretty much IRL but oriented more torwards competitiveness than looks and cool designs, and interested by the idea, i lend him a hand, and Orc eventually joined in aswell, despite the idea being ridiculed by some people, i think it isn't completely stupid, because, there are sort of 2 categories of players in the IRL community, there are some people that want to make machines that are able to fight and kick ass in the arena, and other people who think of IRL more as a showcase meta where the priority is making cool looking stuff, but this causes some issues, namely that usually the "showcase builders" (let's call them that for now) get annoyed at the "fight builders" because they view their optimised for combat robots as tryhard because efficiency is the main objective rather than a full aesthetics mindset, which can lead to arguments and drama when all this gets ported to tournaments, which let's face it, gets rather annoying.
Enter the Competitive Realistic meta (or CR for short), the idea is to make an alternative to the IRL meta with a set in stone ruleset so that race for competitiveness can be made in reasonable boundaries with minimal grey areas while keeping a certain level of realism so it doesn't just become DSL-S 2.0, this way, disputes between the two types of players in this game have no reason to exist anymore, you want to make fighters that will kick ass and make for cool fights ? CR is right up your alley, and everyone wanting to just make cool sh** for the hell of it can continue playing IRL unopposed and no longer be annoyed by the "tryhard" machines of those who play this for the fights. This new meta would give each "section" of the playerbase it's appropriate playing field depending on how each builder wants to play, and this is the part where i will need the community's help, i need people to "beta-test" the current ruleset we have in the works for CR for any balance flaws and big exploits we may have missed, the ruleset can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1N5zeHUZg6Eo2rY-FnhRNwp4S1Rrd79_ZQgURy5ha-wg/edit?usp=sharing Please give us help and feedback, this project could be something very good, but it won't happen without your input, don't dismiss it as something stupid or a meme, this is a serious idea, give it a whirl and we can observe the results and see what needs to be changed to make this a viable sub-meta to IRL. 99

i agree with the buffed servo, and yeah i did do a X shaped setup with the motors which worked WAY better, just need to make a legit bot using it still
the trapper has twinbird drive so it pins stuff good, and yeah flanking helps a lot with matches not just being RNG wedge war (even tho with how twitchy and unstable IF bots are precise driving isn't an easy task lol) 100
