Huh, apparently this changed utterly all the posts that appear in Recent Unread Topics. Well, it's not a surprise, nor a real problem.

DSL TC Showcases / Re: WenXiangLee DSL Showcase« on: May 11, 2016, 04:43:30 AM »Essentially what Naryar said. If you think armour on the back is neccesary just put armour plates on the back, instead of a plow, because all that'll happen is the bot will run up the plow and attack the top (depending on how fast the weapon actually is) ![]() no. since the bot will be upwards it's weapon will be upwards too and won't be able to actually damage the chassis. unless it is a VS/drum but having a vs or drum at your rear is bad news anyways, regardless of the design. 763
Site News and Feedback / Re: ITT why Goon should be banned« on: May 11, 2016, 04:34:39 AM »No I can use it and I don't need to share because it's not something that needs to be shared until all the mods agree on it.So you post that you're working on an appeal system, and start crying when people ask about what you mean by that and how it would work. There's basically no reason that I can see to keep something like that secret from the community, and community feedback would be important for this kind of thing, in my view. . Craaig was frustrated at this point, so he wasn't posting the most sane stuff. The appeal system as proposed by Craaig was that permabans could be appealed after 6 months of ban, and that we would listen to the appeal, and that the staff would decide to let the banned member come back, with 2 months of "zero tolerance" where we get rid of him permanently if he goes over 50% warning (no more appeals possible, he'd be gone for good). That was the appeal system. Now I agree that if we do that for permabans it doesn't make much sense since a permaban is supposed to be permanent. Yet again, we permabanned andrew because we were all quite frankly sick of his behavior and constant flaming and trolling and sneakily insulting the staff, and it was a good thing at the time. Right now, circumstances have changed, and as said before I stand by what I've said : I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, I will be merciless if he continues his previous behavior. 764

Huh. Yet again, Craaig takes things too personally... But it was all from a laudable intention. Besides, he helped quite a bit for this situation.
Now guys, let's stop this soap opera. Everyone take a chill pill; arguing is fine, but please stop with the BS drama. We, the staff, are taking care of this Andrew situation right now and it will be solved in the following days - I personally vouch for it and will take the blame if it is NOT solved. 765
Site News and Feedback / Re: ITT why Goon should be banned« on: May 10, 2016, 04:53:27 PM »On the one hand, there's actually zero reason to let him stay, given what we know, on the other, what's the worst that could happen? But for everyone complaining about consistency in the rules, that's literally never been the case, so we may as well wait till this awesome new rule system are hardworking staff is developing comes into use, then we can actually complain if the rules aren't followed. I guess every government needs an opposition as part of the natural order of things, but must you really spit on the staff's work every occasion you get ? You're starting to sound a lot like pre-ban Andrew. 766

I have seen some pretty edgy posting in the chatbox coming from him. Now i'm leaning towards an immediate ban, discussing it with the staff.

I can vouch for Craaig. Andrew said to Craaig "hey, i'm goon" basically, and Craaig reported it to the rest of the staff. There was some disagreements over keeping him or not in the staff, but we decided to let it slide, as long as he didn't cause any trouble.
And there still ARE disagreements in the staff, now that opinion is generally negative about keeping him. As for myself, I stick to my position : keep him, unless he causes some trouble again. If he does, ban him. And a permaban this time, so that he doesn't make other accounts and we don't restart that again. We are unsure about the specifics of banning him, if it is zero tolerance or "one written warning, then immediate ban if he continues". We are discussing about that. _______ And yes, Craaig, people are being prejudiced because Andrew HAS been frequently berating, flaming, insulting people previously. As for his current behavior, he HAS improved, yes, but nothing tells me he's not going to burst out and flame again later, as he is prone to do when he is frustrated IRL. 768
Site News and Feedback / Re: ITT why Goon should be banned« on: May 10, 2016, 09:58:51 AM »And yes, I am willing to leave if goon stays. I don't want it to come to that, though. As was said beforehand : Leave. No one will give a damn. He's hasn't done anything wrong yet, so I think it'd be unfair to form such a negative opinion of him, regardless of what he was like with his other account. You have no idea how he was back then. And no, I believe it is very fair if people form negative opinions about ex-disruptive members. If he wants redemption he's gonna have to work through that bad reputation he got. As for I, I am willing to give him a chance. If he blows it up, however, I'll be the first to get him out of those forums. 769

We decided that we would let him post as long as he does not go back to his previous flaming/trolling behavior. So far he has been doing pretty well.

1- put it outside ? rebuild chassis ?
2- no, it's too slow. unless you used a cheat component. 3- realistic rule is... https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=12002 4- plow is only useful on rumbles, otherwise not. 771

In fact, do you even need a smartzone to ai this bot?Sometime you do NOT need a smartzone, period. anyways, since you wanted tips, here are some : -motor needs to be stronger. use a dual perm. -drive needs to be stronger as well, your bot is too slow. -it is unrealistic, the hammers cutting through the perm belt make it unrealistic. we generally build semi-realistically in DSL. -the rear plow is not useful. 772

Existing Games / Re: Pokemon Thread« on: May 08, 2016, 12:15:29 PM »
So, I started Pokémon Light Platinum. Took a bulbasaur, because venusaur is manly. And yes, it's female, no, i don't care.
There were about two trainers with 5 pokémon each on the very first road. So I finished a fight paralyzed (thunder wave on a level 5 pokemon) and at -3 accuracy and -2 attack due to sand attack and growl spam and me having only one pokémon, so can't switch. Paralyz heal ? What's that ? I haven't seen the shadow of a poké mart yet ! Gee, that was a really fun road. No way to heal on the starting town, two potions on the road, gotta have to use a max potion (!) to heal. Lost once to me grinding on Bidoofs on the road, and once in a fight with the second road trainer. Also all bug, flying and poison types. Hopefully the only thing that threatened me was Spearow, who actually starts with Peck instead of Tackle. All praise Leech Seed. And yet I am, bulbasaur is now level 15 despite having fought two trainers and four wild pokémon or so. I think it evolves in one level ? haha Second town... Got a free growlithe (the game seems generous itemwise) which is not bad at all. I'm going to get more starters in this game though, so may switch it with a typhlosion. 774

Custom Components Showcase / Re: WenXiangLee Custom Components« on: May 06, 2016, 09:51:58 AM »People won't really give you tips because custom components aren't competitively balanced and so are kinda cheating, just like cheatbot2 Also, no builder is really interested in custom components, unless the bot is particularly cool / we are using DSL cheatbot2 for IRL. 778
Tournament Archives / Re: General Tournament Discussion« on: May 05, 2016, 10:24:33 AM »Yes, quite obviously.Hows about an IF (or dsl ew) tourney where only control boards, batteries and a single anchor can be placed on the chassis, and ysing serge's ro7 patch is legal? I did something like that quite a bit ago, except I gave people a chassis to work with. Would be nice to see what people will come up with. 779

Discussion / Re: Robot Arena 3!« on: May 04, 2016, 01:19:33 PM »I think it was relevant to the discussion, it originated from people discussing why they disliked the fact that RA3 is a steam-only release and how it's on unity, and the points raised affected RA3. It's not like people were discussing like iTunes or Cryengine or something. This thread is not giving a good impression to new users and our new developery overlords. it was at first, then it started to be a discussion about steam and unity, hence it was becoming off-topic. |
