Didn't take long for someone to deface it.
As soon as I saw the wiki was a thing, I saw the text added in the about section someone else. For the record, I didn't do it.

Oh, bugger. I had my bot ready, I just wasn't sure if we were still going ahead with this.

Whining aside, that's a great bot and a great splash to go with it! I like the blur effect on the rest of the arena in the background, as well as the descriptive text.

Floyd looks a bit... erm...

EDIT: OK, so I didn't have my bot ready... You see, I made it at school. I put RA3 onto a USB stick and played it in my free time, and I made a bot. Unfortunately, RA3 saves bots onto the computer you are using, so I'm gonna have to go back into school (it's my last day tomorrow) to save myself from having to rebuild the damn thing.

Modifications / Re: Robot Wars RA2 - OFFICIAL MOD
« on: June 08, 2016, 07:31:58 AM »
Foxic is a lifter.
On the subject of Foxic (because I remember wondering this) I know that it has a working weapon in RWRA2+, but in the original mod, did it's weapon work? I don't think it was wired to anything but I can't remember if it was attached to a working burst motor or anything.

Now that I look at this after RA3's release, this mod seems like the RA3 we should've got. Nicer graphics, more bot lab content, interesting arenas... not sure how RA3 would've had replicas; I suppose it could have had imitations of famous robots. All that on top of the (GOOD) things RA3 brought to the series and we might have had the successor we've been waiting for. I mean, I'm happy with having amazing fan made mod and harbinger of silly clipping errors, but if they came together, it'd be quite the RA3, wouldn't it? ... Not the silly clipping errors, the good things, like the online (when it works) and the 5 layer chassis and the Steam Workshop.

That new basketball gamemode is a lot of fun as well.
It's really bloomin' hard to score anything that doesn't look like a cheap shot, though...
Got it during one of the PS Plus months as well, Joelu. The best thing to ever happen to PS Plus members other than PS4 online.

Any other PS4 players want to play sometime?
I can still play (can't be late, though; exam revision and stuff)

I'm getting the PC version, like, right now. I'll be playing... also right now. Well, when it downloads.

One more thing; 1v1s are annoying for me. You have to play so defensively it just seems dull sometimes. That's where a lot of sh*t talkers reside, too...
EDIT: Playing defensively isn't the best of ideas; you just have to not be overly aggressive.

By the way, I recommend you all check out SubParButInHD / SubParButIn4K 's channel on YouTube, as there's a superb series of video guides on there to improving overall skill on Rocket League. iBP Kronovi (the #1 ranked player in the PS4 beta) oversaw the making of the videos, so the information provided is from a very reliable and well-trusted source. He has 6+ years experience with the Battle-Cars series, so he has very good knowledge of the game.

Was kinda surprised to not see a thread for this. I hope it's alright if I make this thread...

Anyways, This is a place to discuss the football game that isn't quite football that also has cars in it.

Picked up the game when it was available via PS Plus on PS4. Despite not liking football games at all, I loved it. I'm hoping to get it on PC too so I can play with people on GTM easier.

That is, if anyone here owns the game / has played the game? Most of my friends lost interest in it a short while after it's release, so I'm kinda on my own in a team based game (help) and with the big June update on the horizon, there doesn't seem like a better time than now to make a thread for this.

So then. Who here plays some SocCar?

Did the update get jammed up or something?

'jam up' is a meme in robot combat right

I think there's been enough cool looking bots made that an RA3 BOTM could be serviceable.
Only problem is, they'd have to all be art bots (if that even is a problem at all.) Plus, with the new bot lab, isn't it harder to make splashes?

Can I just say that I love the fact that you essentially have no limits in the RA3 Bot Lab? Like, in terms of it being in the final game, it's pretty awful, but on it's own, it's so much fun for me.

Expect a showcase soon; I'm legit having a blast just building. Yeah, the game itself needs to be fixed ASAP, but... I just love the new bot lab! It's broken as all hell, but that's kinda why I like it so much. It feels like Bamzooki's zook kit but with more complexity. It's like a debug mode, in a way. And it's so much fun to mess around with IN MY OPINION. I know that a lot of people think differently, and yes, it's bad, but I couldn't care less because I'm having a hell lot of fun with it.

Maybe £12 was a little excessive for a bot builder, but screw it; I'm having fun. I'm happy with the purchase I've made. And I'm not refunding because I wish to support this until they abandon it.

*casually awaits "ur a stupid twat" replies*

It's barely functioning in it's current state.

That reminds me, wasn't NerdCubed gonna play this?

He's predictably gonna hate it. Or he'll love it because of the stupid things you can build in it.

I'm, like, legit not seeing what's bad here.

I don't get what's so bad about this game. It's alright in my eyes.
you've got to be on some mad drugs to think this is in any way decent. zero collision detection, horrible physics, no weight limits, clunky ass building, it just goes on and on with whats wrong with this game.

the only plus for this game i can see is that actually runs pretty well.

OK, to be fair, I was just in the bot lab building stuff. Seemed OK there.

Despite all this, I really hope they don't just give up on this. They can fix it, surely?

should we start a steam chatgroup for multiplayer later on?
Sounds like a good idea. I've posted my Steam ID before, but here it is again for people to easily find it;

I was legit expecting a "This isn't even my final form" EMERGENCY. Regardless, great to see it back! I hope to tear it's weapons off in HD.

Unfortunately, because my birthday is in June, I think I'll be held back from getting the game until June 12th. Which kinda sucks, I wanted to own this from day one.

I CHALLENGE YOU THRACKERZOD!

DO YOU ACCEPT!?!

Was it worth making a YouTube video for this?

Also, shouldn't this be in the challenge thread and not his showcase?

Interesting new bot photo. What do people think of it?
Is the camera for an alternate camera angle or something? Regardless, it looks nice, although it's capability in battle has to be questioned.

With RA3 and GT Sport on the horizon, IDK what I should be more hype for... I like the GT series a little more, so...

if possible, somebody makes the house robots (all 8, excluding Refbot, and maybe Shove) for the game.

Which versions though?

Probably the old ones as we have better pictures of those. Although I assume people will try to make both.

Yeah I remember this game. Although not bad, there really was just nothing that made it stand out you know. The other Robot Wars game for the GBA was way better, yet for the life of me I can't remember what it was called?
Robot Wars: Extreme Destructon. It had the best physics engine out of all the games, surprisingly.

Pretty sure you are supposed to name flippers "fire", and then put "omni" into its ai line in the bindings.py
The AI for Lightning has it's button named "Flip" and that works fine.

(Image removed from quote.)
The heavyweight one looks a lot weaker... Surely parts could be taken off so it's weight is just under 400 or 395?

Anyways, the smartzone; you put it in the right place, but once you've put it on, you have to rename the smartzone. This can be done by clicking on it and then clicking on the bar underneath the text "Enter a name for this zone". If it's an AI Flipper you're making, you'll want to rename the smartzone to "flip".

If you haven't done so already, you'll want to rename the controls on the bot controller too. Rename the control that makes you go forwards and backwards to "Forward" and the control that makes you turn left and right to "LeftRight". The control that uses the flipper should also be renamed to "Flip".

...Huh. While writing this, I noticed that the AI version of Foxic II's button for it's flipper is named "Fire". I think that's why it wasn't working when I fought it. I'll probably go fix that now.

EDIT: Changing the button name didn't work. AI Foxic II isn't relevant to Wen's showcase anyway, so I'll just get back to finding a way to fix it.
(Also, I accidentally quoted my post earlier instead of modifying it. Sorry.)
