Posting more bots. No BOTM style splashes too as too lazy and haven't made one yet First is HexaVortex Gen II. Changes made from old versipn include shortening the chassis with BFE, redesigning the shell to be shorter and used armor panels, added a new pole made of steel, and use a 6mag for weapon. It's also more stable. Alu5 Next is Darwinian Predator HW. I used the extra weight from the CW version to strengthen armor, turning the bottom plate into all steel from the all alu of CW. I also made the top plate ti, and the front plate steel. In addition, I added a tail, few decorations, a new battery, and a new srimech powered by a extra short VDMA. Though it doesn't function as it's light and the game glitch when firing a srimech that goes too fast for some reason

Audio is a bit F-ed up for some reason, but it should be ignorable.
PrimevalBrony and Give 'em the Chair are your new champions. I'll be honest, when I first recorded this episode, I had Dragon Rising winning against Slideout, whilst losing against the chair. However, when I went back to judge the fight, Slideout won because the dragon can't get any aggression points. In fact, I gave him pity points in the aggression category for controversy's sake. Anti gravity actually beat Slideout in this alternate timeline. Awards anyone?
We have for you: Favorite robot: Least Favorite robot: Bot that should've done better: Most forgetable robot: Luckiest robot: Unluckiest robot: Favorite Fight: Favorite rivalry: (Manticore vs Box Cutter, Box cutter vs Big Cat, Slideout vs Peak IRL, Very Sadbois vs Slideout, and probably a few more) Robot that deserves and award, but can't get one:
Default awards are judged purely by this spreadsheet that I've been keeping. If it ain't broke: (The robot from season 1 that that never updated but still had a good record) Dragon RisingVeteran Award: (The robot with the most fights) Dragon RisingBig Winner: (The robot with the most victories) Infinity Gauntlet/Big CatSupreme Champion (The robot that never lost once) Give 'em the chairJust give up: (The robot with the most losses) Box CutterAnd whatever other ones you want to add for yourself.
Favorite robot: Kuro Hakai Least Favorite robot: Hammerblade Bot that should've done better: Girl Power (0-3 in record. Ouch) Honorable mention to Ceylon Most forgettable robot: [change] Luckiest robot: Ring of Death Unluckiest robot: Perfect Impact Favorite Fight: The first Manticore vs Box cutter fight Favorite rivalry: Manticore vs Box Cutter Robot that deserves and award, but can't get one: Deadgnaws
I couldn't think of a more fitting post for post number 1,000
Awesome tourney. And very great that Primeval finally wins a whole tourney with a good bot. Also, why do you vote my bot (it's Ring of Destruction, not Ring of Death by the way) and then Hop's bot as luckiest and unluckiest respectively

Alternatively, if you have snipping tool, you can just open the program where you make your CAD, load it, and then snip the screen to include the CAD, before saving that and showing us all the pic

Oh, dang. DSL doesn't work anymore:(
I'll try Ironforge.
How does your DSL fail? If you try opening it, and then the game only show the first pic before crashing, then you lost your cfg file for it. You can try copying the cfg file from any RA2 copy you have. Alternatively, if you can't get DSL to work, just re-download it. Download the DSL 2.2 Complete Edition version if you re-download

Just use the oldest IRL bot you got (maybe the triangle of doom)
That is not IRL.
it sure as isn't DSL-S
I don’t know what it is because I haven’t seen it
its a triangle shaped robot with a single e tek attached to an aluminum extender with a disc and two hypno teeth
Yeah, pic for what he meant And it's meant to be IRL, but that was made when I still didn't understand IRL and have RA2CF to do it, so. I could try remake Flipper Time or Vert Shredder, though getting the details right are a pain even with pics in my showcase

I've seen a lot of these tutorials getting spread around, so I feel like I should try and make one.
So, you just got an account on GTM, and you cannot wait to show off your first builds! However, there is just one thing wrong. You do not have any builds. Ideas are up in the air to show this community. If you are having trouble with this, you might want to read this guide.
For starters, it doesn't have to be a masterpiece. I know you've been looking around in some of our showcases and want to make some elegant extenderbots, but hold your horses. All builders have to start somewhere. In fact, if you look at the very beginning of our showcases, you may see very different robots and building styles than what we build now. However, do not build something for the sake of building. You'll end up with something that you and the people of this community are not proud of. While these two rules may seem to contradict one another, it really just means that build what you want to build, but don't drag yourself down if it is not of the standards you see builders building today.
Another thing to take into consideration when building is what are you building this for. There are two main ways to build: competitavely and artiscally. when building with competition in mind, you want your robot to kick robutt in tournaments in such. you must understand which components are more effective than others, weight and damage wise. This type of building is a lot harder to begin with, so most begin by making artbots. Artbots are made to look nice, not to destroy the opponent. If you were to enter this into a tournament, it would get demolished after winning a fight or two by a long-time veteran builder. As stated before, they don't have to be blue-moon artworks, but rather a nice-looking creation showing that you want to be a part of the community.
And before you go asking in the comments, yes, you can make a good looking AND comeptitive bot, but it is something even veteran builders struggle at.
OK, so say you finally got your robot done. You take a screenshot, attach the image, and post it to your showcase. However, the ruthless members of the RA2 community tear it to shreds, bashing it for its ineffectiveness and blandness. Do not take it personally, as it is something we all experience during our stay at GTM. Don't go insulting the community, don't go into an edgy phase. Instead, listen to the few criticisms that you may have recieved to improve the roobt, or even make a new one.
Now say that you went for the competitive path, and your robot gets destroyed on the first round. As stated before, do not curse the world and blame the host for the loss. Instead, learn from your opponent to destroy them next time a tournament arises.
So guys, that'll do for my first tutorial. I attempted to make something not as technical and mechanical as other guides, but instead opting to make something to educate the new members on how to get their paths to greatness started the right way. If there is anything I missed, let me know and I will add it. Thank you, and goodbye.
I think you need to better clarify the competitive and artistical part. Like competitive is primarily for Stock Unrealistic, DSL-S, and IF-S. While Artistic is primarily for DSL-IRL. Also, add the part if you are going for artistic (IRL) path. Make it say that you can make a competitive bot, but don't make it too competitive to the point of tryhardiness, like weapon spam for example. Also, builders must pay attention to the aesthetic look of their bot Good guide though

Yeah, talking about Ironforge, if you are looking to play DSL-S Redalert, then Ironforge is more suited to Standard. Though you can still do DSL-S. Also, DSL is actually the mod itself, and DSL-S and DSL-IRL are the two metas in it. Standard is like Unrealistic, but a bit more realistic. While IRL is basically making a bot that look and function as close to a bot that could exist in real life as possible.
Also, for IRL only, you should get RA2CF (and maybe OBJRA2, though it's not mandatory, and learn BFE, which will help on certain building part, for it, as they are illegal in other metas) and DSC's IRL Packs first, as well as check out TheRoboteer's IRL Guide and people's DSL showcases that show their DSL-IRL bots.

Okay this is epic, but for chassis height or anything related to bfe, you dont really need to export the bot. Go to Test bot section, Alt tab out of the game, locate the bot, and bfe it there, without needing to exit the botlab
It saves you time
Thanks! I've never BFE'd before, so I just build all in-game. This will help, though.
BFE can only be legally used for IRL (to help make more realistic bot) or maybe IF-S (I don't know actually, but I think Reier only allowed chassis height BFE for one of his tourneys IIRC). So if you use it in Stock Unrealistic, your bot will get rejected if you enter it to tourneys

I want to enter, but I lost all of my old bots with the exception of the DSL-S one. What should I do?

My first modular bot: bitter.

Looks decent. However, just wondering, but do you have RA2CF? Because it looks like that hammer's motor is fully exposed, which looks ugly and a bit un-IRL. If you have RA2CF, you could at least make the motor partially inside the chassis. Also, the wedge edge pointing out from the wedge is ugly, so you should put those angled sides on the opposing side and turn them around until they are flush with the edge. Also, you should build to the weight limit. You could make it as close to the CW (which has 600kg limit) weight limit as possible. And finally, what is the armor, as well as internal pics of the bot?

Do you think that you will get more entries? I mean i think that 55 spots are kinda high from someone who never made a tournament before
Tbh yeah. I mean, I think there's few more potential users, like Badger, who don't join because they are unsure if you can finish it probably

The new version of Infest looks awesome. I also think it's going to be more effective that it now has a front hinged flipper rather than two saws like before

I somehow made AI's that make wedge fights actally interesting! And oof, Pokebro won 2-1! He is the new belt holder! Interesting wedge AI fight? I'm actually interested in it

Still too lazy to do BOTM style splashes, but well, here are the new stuffs plus updates First, Stab Runner, which I forgot to showcase. Don't know armor, but maybe it's Ti3 or Alu5 IIRC. And I think the wedge is titanium. Next, update to Angry Bird: Seed Killer. It now has sturdier poly top plate and alu wedgelets, as well as the wheels being changed, among other minor changes Update to OverChopper Gen II Basically, stripped the typhoons in favor of the wheelguard, which is a mix of alu and ti, as well as looking sturdier now. I also changed the wheels to smaller ones, though too lazy to BFE them inward. Also removed an ant batt And finally, a new bot, and it will get long, so prepare yourself It's named Sweet Drum, a pun on Sweet Dream. It originated because I originally had an idea to make a Nightmare clone, but without a giant vertical disc. A drum soon came to mind, and then I thought of straightening the part holding the drive to make the bot invertible. As for the build process, it's honestly real hectic. The bot simply doesn't come as I hope, especially with the wheels. The drum keeps AGOD'ing as well as being too low that it hits the ground, so I'm forced to use large wheels rather than smaller ones I'm hoping for. The other reason for larger wheels is also because the Perm sticking out from the bottom too caused the wheels to not touch the ground. That change in turn forced me to use typhoons just because of the range, though I still have to BFE them in, and god, it's pretty difficult. In the end, I gave up, making the typhoons messy. I also think the drive part is a bit too long Anyway, for the bot itself, two Perm 132's for drum, and two decorative flatmotors. You read that right, decorative flatmotors. It serves no purpose, not even to scummily boost the drum, because it will be stupid, but only as some kind of a belt. I was inspired by Thyrus' drumbot, SCORN, for that, when he said for people to pretend the flats on it are belts. Pics for proof I didn't wire the flat Back to the bot again, Alu5 for armor, and two NPC Fasts. The extension, on the other hand, is made up of some alu panels and a lot of small alu extenders. Edit: Just noticed an extender for SD pokes out. May try fixing it, because it seems to sometimes poke when I open the bot, and sometimes not. I don't even change the position of it And here is my showcase for now

sow(2018 version).
I'm not normally the kind of guy to make comments like this...but compared to your previous replicas (especially your previous S.O.W.), I don't believe you've made this: I'm pretty sure this it the one from the BB18 pack made by HarleysCupboard. - Wedge/wheels are different - Tribar is different but not by much. - Chassis/decals are exactly the same. [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] Please, feel free to correct me. I'm just looking out for HarleysCupboard here.
Pretty sure that SoW replica you showed Orc is not HarleyCupboard's, but Alphasim's or whoever (I forget), because I found and downloaded that from the Bot Exchange and have it now Edit: I honestly haven't seen the SoW rep on the BB Pack. Taking a second glance, I realized it's different from the one I downloaded. I thought it's the same due to the similar skirt wedge. So sorry. I also just remembered that the SoW rep I mentioned was made by Acapaldi Dude stop using stock decals, the least you could do is put a little effort to align everything
Have you tried to align stock decals before?
Have you tried a custom skin?
Lets be reasonable here, Photoshop isn't an easy skill to learn, nor is it cheap software either.
You don't need that, you just need MS Paint, and once you find that too tedious to make stuff, you'll be motivated to learn Paint.net (a free software)
Alternatively, people can use GIMP to skin, especially if their computer software is outdated (I have Windows 8, and it's not 8.1, so Paint.net is unsupported unfortunately, and I can't update to a new computer or Windows)

its not worth watching nobody won in this
i mean it is 2 irl bots fighting
IRL is fun, not boring to me. I play this game to get robot combat simulation and make good real life like bots, after all
Since when was 2 robots circling around each other for 3 minutes an accurate simulation of robot combat
this was a terrible match we both couldnt get under each other regardless if like IRL or not this plain sucked and ive made major improvements since id probably say you should to billy.
May rebuild DP entirely to make it less boxy, do the smartzone properly, and find a way to fit a metal hinge so I can hinge the mouth wedge, thus increasing wedge quality
