DSL TC Showcases / Re: SteveM4's stuff
« on: Today at 04:52:28 AM »
I have found while working on a few builds that I absolutely cannot make an effective (IRL) wedge. Anything I attempt seems just to bonk against the AI (RedAce's Pack) and not get under. The two bots just sort of sit there, bonking.

So, basically, how do I make effective wedges that lie within the IRL ruleset, as I gather components and balancing of wedginess has been improved. I have even been outdone by chassis wedges, so I am dumbfounded.
Basically in RA2, static wedges are not effective for wedging. You should put your wedge on burst life with flippers, or use hinge for your wedges. Also, wedge mechanic is 70% luck and 30% mechanics, and pretty variable, as well as not pretty predictable. You just have to find a wedgy setup, thiugh balanced drive is also needed so you will be able to force your wedge up to opponent bot while not frontflipping

Pretty cool. I especially like the weapon itself

Unnamed, it's a 4wd vert with a bland af color scheme what else is their to say.

Also I've been a part of GTM for a year now and I didn't think I would get this much better at building in almost a year.
Yeah, agreed. It's pretty excellent improvement. But then again, I also feel the same tbh with my own building

As for that bot, pretty cool. Stands out to me for the steel texture, as well as the Minion discs. Aside from the retro vibe, the panels also remind me of Deadgnaws 2

I think we should have themes for each month. Like next month could be animal themed, or maybe pride month themed. Some can be serious, and some can be comedic.
BOTM once used to have themes tbh. Then it got changed to the current system August ago

Here's a hammer because I've pretty much exclusively been building verts and flippers lately. Really happy with the front end of it, but the beta motor forces me to make the bot a lot taller than I really want it to be, so it doesn't look as good as I think it could. Maybe I'll just swap the hammer to a vert instead  heck

In terms of specs, the front is pretty much all steel, rest is Alu as usual. Drive is 2 TWMR2s. Weighs like 789kg.

Have you considered an OK motor? Or is that a toxic CB2 component for ya?
It's less bad than the flat, but I'd still rather not
I thought Overkill motor is not OP and cheaty

Doesn't look like a rep TR. Anyway, that's pretty great. Interested to see more from you

F for the five people who failed to get in

But I also love how you are able to invite former OW competitors, and Robottal Wars guys (except Mystrysko) like Strudel, SamElliott, etc to here, as IIRC, they normally don't join RA2 tournies

I don't think that's bad tbh

Also just something I want to express about you as a builder, but I admit that you have exceeded me in skill tbh, particularly on extenderbots. Like the panel works you did and the shape. In fact, your panelwork reminds me a bit of Thyrus

Oof at calling Puxxgear CAD bot, considering Bild doesn't do and is probably not interested in outright ARC style CAD at all. Only CAD for RA2 custom components for now

i don't even recognize half the people in this tournament where did these people come from
Probably some of his friends on discord.
Yeah. They came from the OW (now RA2T) Discord, as well as the MS2 (Mystrysko) Discord IIRC. And few others seem to be from GTM but not that active

1) I like it a lot. It looks like one of Orc's designs, as he seems to have a fetish for crocs. (Jk)
2) the design was nice until the anime got slapped onto it. I personally feel like anime and robot combat should never be mixed, but that's just my opinion.
Wait until you see the rest of Bild's showcase then

Boy i hope you haven't seen mlp Battlebot
Or the RW Highschool fic that ships Micheal Oates and an OC IIRC

burg
What weightclass is that? Also just wondering, but how is the top lid supposed to function. Won't the bar cut the bot in two?

For me, yeah I forget too

Anyway, my rundowns and opinions:
Mr. Croc: Awrsome extenderbot. I like all the intricate details with the extenders and the whole design,  as well as the tribar. Pretty unique bot. Could have the hexplate be as thick as the extender for the tribar, but great otherwise
Roka EXD: Clean and simple, but cool. I like all the component skinning to it.
