I like some of the ideas in here, but it feel bad to had kill left the community.

A 'mute topic' button
actually this is a great idea

Okay, that's a problem. Members will use the "mute topic" button as a weapon to fight back when their topics are muted. I think the "mute topic" button should only be in the hands of moderators.
Again, I mean a "mute this topic just for you" button. So people will still be able to post in the topic, but people who pressed the mute topic button for that topic won't be able to see it.

I thought people would have the common sense to figure this out

A 'mute topic' button
Have a feeling that would be bad. Lets say one person locks the topic because he doesnt like the person that made the topic. This would end up in many muted topics...
Or do you mean just mute the topic for you which now that im thinking about it is prolly what you meant, and makes everything that i wrote above invald
I mean mute topic just for you obviously.

chassis seems very nice and compact, you did a good job minimizing chassis space. like superbomb said the armor panels look a bit messy, work on making it look more clean.

Messy? I fail to see how, but It does a bang-up job in combat.

I need to build some hammers and more wandering spinners since I'm hosting a personal tournament. (I'm hosting a personal because my public one isn't doing so well at the moment...)
They're all very incoherent. There's no real "flow" to the panelwork. It's like you just slapped on a bunch of panels. It would look a lot better if they looked more connected and flowed into each other better

not trying to change the subject, but we're currently looking into appointing someone to head admin to fill kill's position

it's not set in stone yet, but we do want to have it set up to where the userbase has direct influence over who takes the position

also I'm going to bed for now so this is on hoppin for now. please clap
TBH I think the 2018 awards were evidence that we shouldn't let people vote on stuff like this

i'm just going to be honest and say that I don't really know where gtm fits in anymore with the current ra2 community. gtm is no longer the only ra2 community around, and its debatable if it's even the most active/popular nowadays. the general consensus that I get from most members is that this isn't the main community (can't blame them tbh) for them even if the active ra2 population is shared amongst all of the groups. obviously there are people who feel that gtm is the main community still, but continuing to treat it as if it's the sole pillar of ra2 isn't a good way forwards imo.

these last few years have seen maybe the most dramatic paradigm shift in terms of our userbase, and idk about anyone else but at this point it honestly feels like there's a massive divide within the ra2 community. think back to the fall of 2017, but maybe a tad less open and hostile with one another. idk how else to put it, but it feels like gtm is a forum that's occupied by multiple groups that have just tolerate one another rather than one single community.

im not asking anyone to change their views or how things are ran off-site. obviously it's the job of gtm's staff to make changes that would better reflect the current views of its userbase, but I'm not really sure where we're supposed to go besides "ban so and so and add this feature here" (not saying that either option is off the table"

im not trying to go full "waaa gtm/ra2 is dying", but I think separating ra2 from gtm is an important factor when deciding it's future
I'm not sure the other RA2 communities can survive without GTM, even if it's just as a resource centre. This place has 10+ years worth of files, data, tutorials, developments etc on it. I know there's folks who disagree with me but I still feel it IS the central pillar of the RA2 community. It's no longer the ONLY pillar, but if it falls so does everyone else.

I'd like the site to not take 30 seconds to load any page when I'm logged in on my desktop. It's basically stopped me from checking the forums.

Real talk though, the community is past the point of no return I'm pretty sure. Most/all of the 'pillars' of the community are gone, RA2 content has slowed to a crawl and non-IRL stuff has been nonexistent for months. There's no reason for anyone to come to GTM anymore. The discord has beyond sh**ty memes and the very occasional "here's a screenshot of my 700th IRL drumbot/flipper", and the forums have... I don't even know. Download links I guess. Maybe an IRL tournament every now and then, but even most of those are hosted off site nowadays, plus no real incentive to host means that I think tournament content on the forums will become more and more rare as fewer people can be arsed with putting in the effort.

It's nice that Kill finally giving up seems to have been a wake up call, but really you're months, maybe over a year or more too late. Too many important community members have moved on. The only way I see GTM not completely going out with a whimper in the future is if cjbruce's game launches and creates an influx of new members, but that's a massive longshot in multiple ways.

Thanks for everything GTM, but I think your time has come.
Have you considered leaving if there's so little left in the site for you?

The constant defeatism helps no-one, and frankly just makes you look like one of those "everything's pointless" 14 year olds
Encouraging people to leave is probably the absolute last thing that people in GTM should be doing if you want the community to last for even the mid-term future. Maybe gloomy blogposting won't help either. I just wanted to type out my feelings on where I think the community is headed. I'm not trying to pose as an edgy nihilistic kid for cool points.
You gotta see the fact that communities change. Not everybody is gonna like the changes that happen, but it'll happen nonetheless. The old pillars of the community may be gone but new ones have/will rise up to take their place. This is just the natural progression of a game as old members get burned out and new members come in, and you can't deny the fact that there ARE new members coming in.

You don't have to like the changes that are happening, but acting as though it's the end of the world and providing no actual feedback on why you believe this or how you'd fix it (or in this case, just throwing your hands up and saying it can't be fixed) contributes nothing

Must admit, for a guy that loves srimechs on verts...I'm surprised this doesn't have a srimech! That aside: this looks as great as the rest bud!
No weight or space innit. My srimechs on verts plea is mostly directed at people who try to build uber competitive stuff and then are surprised when it gets bullied by a flipper too. I've fully accepted the fact that this thing is probably gonna get dunked on when it faces a flipper

It's certainly closer to IRL than your last one, but it's still not quite there. The axle of your weapon motor needs to be fully supported by the extenders. You may need the Component Freedom mod to do this, but it's pretty much universally legal in IRL building so there's no issue there (just remember to turn it off again when you're building Standard or Unrealistic bots)

Again, I don't get why you don't just give it wheels. I'm aware I'm probably wasting my breath but you'd gain so much by having full controlled movement, and it's not even like you're saving weight in this configuration. Those drums probably weigh as much if not more than proper wheels. The setup you have here really is a lose-lose.

You also once AGAIN have too much battery. You can ditch 1 of the black batts and still have enough power for 3 motors easily.

I tried that. It's the same question of- How do you get the chain motor to stick out of the chassis? Every time I do that, it turns red, and I can't place it.
You need the component freedom mod, like I said.

This WS actually does sufficiently well on drums. It bounces off the walls with ease, and will drive forward...eventually...
Pretty sure it would do better on wheels my dude. People use them for a reason

Made some changes based on your feedback. Changed up the support setup a bit to try to lessen the clipping, and also to save weight. Also redid the wheelguards to try to get them a bit cleaner. Finally spent the weight saved from altering the supports on 2 more small typhoons, giving it a total of 4

Oooh, I like that!
TY my man

That tiny weapon may make it difficult to inflict sufficient damage...
Those tiny weapons are called Typhoon teeth, They can do ungodly amounts of damage, he put the teeth on an extender/BFE'd them in to make them smaller, and when the vertical spinner gets under its opponents, it Gutrips, much similar to that of a popup

I like tyhoon teeth.
Redalert is a Hop alt confirmed.
Nah these are smalls. Larges and you may be on to something

New DG looks fantastic, and from what I've seen of it so far remarkably effective considering it only has 2 small typhoons.

Spider it is a neat idea but it could use some polish I feel. The mandibles looks pretty flimsy and maybe a bit oversized too, and I think the transition from the wheelguards into the front wedge could be cleaner too.

Good to have you back building again though Orc!

I don’t like the white armor panels on the top that slope down to the sides, they make the robot look a little more messy
Do you mean the wheelguards? They'd probably look better if the white of the chassis matched the white of the plates, but that seems to be impossible. I literally copied the texture map of the white plate to use as the white background for the chassis skin but it still doesn't match properly, I'm assuming due to different reflection maps.

remember: Wedgelets are best for making wedges . You still have 24 weight left, so go all out. Looks good, btw!
That wedge setup is pretty decent actually if you do it right. I've outwedged plenty of wedgelet-equipped bots with a similar setup

III. Remember- IRL- In Real Life. Use a disk that doesn't intersect the chassis. I used a saw. Extender holding the twm on is Titanium.
Hate to say it dude but this thing isn't remotely IRL. The way that weapon motor is totally exposed and not really supported doesn't fit with the IRL ruleset. What you got here is a standard bot.

The FBS certainly looks better than the last one you built, but again I really can't see WHY it needs to have 1WD. You'd gain so much by having proper drive and wouldn't lose much at all in the way of weaponry. You also still have too many batteries. 1 of those black batts is sufficient for 2 motors like you have on it
