Discussion / Re: Which bot are you most proud of?
« on: December 19, 2018, 02:17:41 AM »
Decided to post three of my favorite bots I have made now

Seed Killer Gen II

SK.png

One of my newer, but good looking builds. But I have to admit that the side, and particularly top are messy. Little I can do about then though. However, I'm very proud of how the bot panned out in the end. It looks beautiful. Also helps that it's a major improvement, both in aesthetic and performance (despite being untested, but I believe the hinged wedgelets and stronger armor will help) compared to first version.

HexaVortex Gen II

screenshot_38-1.png

Not effective because it uses a 6mag for a shell spinner. I do, however, love how beautiful this thing looks. I'm proud of my work on the shell, particularly the top part, as well as the lowness of the bot. Gives it a pretty sleek look. Also, I'm proud of the aesthetic change when compared to the first version too

OverChopper Gen II

screenshot_74.png

Old photo because I'm too lazy to take a pic of the new one. The only difference is that I changed the color on the center part of the bar to match with the rest of the bar. I'm honestly proud of it. Looks sleek and clean for an overhead imo. It helps that it's also a huge aesthetic improvement from the original OverChopper

Since I am stupid, is Scary Monsters a multibot?
I think not. It's a single HW. The pic only shows one bot, but contains two shots of the bot, one on the front and one on the back

Can you show internals and armor please? Also, yeah, that's boring actually, and Idk how you even reach SHW.

Looks amazing, like all your builds. Though I think I prefer more if you drop two of those two small typhoons on the disc considering how they are arranged.

That looks pretty awesome. Also, what material did you use to make the chassis? Aluminium or titanium?

Awesome. I also love your use of the CB2 components for your bots

It's an unique and good looking flipper, so it's great to me. But yeah, my only problem is the skirt flipping arm wedge. Like what others have said, replace it with an armor panel instead

Problems-
> 3 ballasts make it weigh 350 kg. and make it slow

I'm pretty sure the first 4 ballasts don't count to your weight, though the slowness factor really sucks. Try making hinged wedges, so you don't need ballasts.

Yeah. Slow bots are not good.

Badnik- I assume static wedges are wedges on baseplate anchors?
Static wedges are any form of wedge that is not mounted on a burst or hinge

This is quickly becoming one of my personal favorite showcases on here. Keep up the good work!  :claping

Parkopino looks much better as a VS... Reminds me of one of those drastic changes that happens when a series 4 robot is revived ten years later.

My guess would be sabretooth, thanks lad

An attempt to use shell panels as top armor, works quite well tbh, bfe'd the bottom plate and the drums for maximum fashioness
That's really awesome. The way you combine the S3 chassis shape, the wedge with the angled parts, and the disc is amazing. I also really like the unique wedgelets

More bots. First is Ring of Destruction Gen II. This first DSL-IRL bot entered to a tourney by me is now upgraded to be more aesthetic and faster. The ring now consists of a solid 200cm disc, two large typhoons, and extenderwork around the teeth as bearings. As for the bot itself, it's powered by a long and intercooled batt. Four NPC Fasts. Alu3, and 794.8 in weight.

Second is V1. A CW that was unfinished before I decided to finish it today for Pathfinder, it is a VS inspired by bits of Nazi war machine, hence the color and name. It featured two NPC Fasts and two Slimbodies. It is also powered by a long, intercooled, and ant batt. The extenderwork for support is all alu, while the wedge (including wedgelets, which are hinged) is steel. 594.8 in weight, and Ti3

Finally, Angry Bird: Seed Killer Gen II. It is an upgrade to Seed Killer. I decided to make the shape not boxy and more closer to it's inspiration, beta and TerrorHurtz. Two intercooled for power. Two TWMR2 Drives for drive and geared beta for weapon. The weapon also uses 40kg of counterweight. The front and side are steel, the top is polycarbonate, and the bottom plate is titanium. The side panels are also reskinned. My only gripe is the messy angled side and top. 792.7 in weight

Could you please stop making "tutorials" for building robots that are completely ineffective in real combat and would not be accepted by any host with an idea of what controlled movement is? This idea has existed since 2004, and it hasn't been a good idea since. Please, stop and focus on building and improving designs that make sense and work well.

Also, PLEASE take advice from members that know what they are doing to improve. I don't want to see someone with a decent amount of ability become a meme the likes of Superbot. Don't take this as me trying to insult you or wandering spinners or whatever. I'm just trying to get you to understand where we are all coming from.
Yeah, and talking about the building this bot for fun by Redalert and nobody else building it part, want to ask this to all Unrealistic and Standard players as I don't know much about the meta. Do you not like building WS for fun because both metas are primarily about competitiveness, efficiency, and effectivity, rather than fun (and that the kind of fun said by Redalert in general are applicable to the IRL meta instead, even if WS are probably un-IRL too)?

Just wanted to ask this to know your thoughts on the WS and Redlaert's statement about building it for fun

Are you sure this isn't your bot? Because this was the Smidsy that competed in Robot Wars.
Not Pokebro, but basically from what I can recall, after RW, SMIDSY got sold to few teams, with Pokebro's RL team being the most recent and current owner of SMIDSY. SMIDSY also got modified to have a drum now instead of it's original weapon

You know that guests are like 99% bots, right? :dumb)

What do you mean?
Bots mean that the user is not an actual Human, but just a program that functioned to wander around I think. The statement means that most of the guests are not Humans, but just programs

Edit: Also, why are you like that Redalert? Please listen to people and don't be so stubborn

Very interesting. Plus another CW tourney too. Looks like I have to upgrade Darwinian Predator or Breaking Hammers for this, or just finish an unfinished CW named V1

That is tragic that new players are leaving this year. I remember Qo and Cringey, plus few other leaving this year. And now this
This is just sad. I hope you get better in real life Flames.

Also, i don't like other people memeing the I quit thread, especially if Flames and Cringey's leave are serious.

I really like the wedge configuration on the above bot. My only suggestion is to move one red batt on the middle to the left side of the chassis and then put a slow magsnapper on the middle with extender on it for srimech
