Enjoying what I've played of the new build so far! Am I right in thinking there's no way to create flippers in the botlab at the moment though, or am I missing
something? Edit: On another note, it seems that flippers in this build aren't working full stop, whether controlled by player or AI. Tested with Earthquake, Manta and TR3. Pressing the flip button decreases the gas meter, but doesn't do anything. 385

As Kix said, some good progress here. You seem pretty competent at getting your bots nice and compact so that there isn't too much wasted space, which is definitely a good thing. The main thing you're gonna need to focus on is weight management. In the vert for example, you can free up some weight by ditching the two ant batts, as 2 battlepacks are sufficient to run 3 spin motors for the full 3 minutes. You can then spend that weight on improving other elements of the bot (making the wedge wider to minimise that gap at the front would be what I'd suggest)
All in all though, some positive signs here. Look forward to seeing how you progress further as a builder. I'm also gonna be that guy and plug my IRL guide since I think it's helpful for new members who seem to be interested in IRL building, such as yourself: https://gametechmods.com/forums/tutorials-and-tips/irl-a-beginner's-guide 386

Here's a high effort lineup splash for Apex
![]() Not expecting too much from these boys tbh. Crescendo is totally untested in a proper competitive fight, Zealot has only been tested in PvP (it has seen upgrades to the wedgelets due to experience from these PvP fights though) and Speed Demon VI seems much better optimised for PvP than AI fights due to the short wheelbase and constant frontflipping that arises from it. Nonetheless I'm pretty happy with my lineup looks wise, and the other lineups I've seen make me think this is gonna be a pretty strong tournament, so best of luck to all the rest of you entering! 387

I like the color scheme, as well as how you did the sides.Cheers boss Made a few changes to it. Pink stripe goes over the whole front now since it irked me that it didn't before. Also added some little triangles which aim to stop bots that ride up the wedge from touching the wheels and ****ing up the driving. Finally I tried to clean up the wedgelets a bit since I received some feedback that they could be cleaner. They still aren't 100% perfect, which is annoying, but I think this is as close as I'll get. Really happy with this thing overall now 389

*checks watch*
Hoo boy it's been nearly 10 seconds since I built a front hinge. Better fix that. Here's Crescendo. 2WD NPC fasts, 2 Vsmall VDMA R/Ps for the flipper. Big wide panel which will be super heavy so the flipper won't be all that strong, but should be more than enough nonetheless. All the front is steel to so it should be fairly tanky 390

It's fine interest wise IMO. Sure it's not covered in 1400 superfluous pieces which serve no real purpose like seems to be popular now, but it's a nice interesting shape and has some decent panelwork put into it. Bit rough around the edges in places but good for the most part

Yeah it happens when you tab out and tab back in. I have the same issue. Just don't tab out while you're building is my suggestion. Pretty terrible advice IK but other than playing in windowed mode it's the only "fix" I know of

IDK how folks intend on killing spinners in an arena with no hazards, and with bots that have no way of inflicting damage

Liking VB's and Neon's LWs a lot. Lot less overhead HSes than I expected too. Makes me somewhat optimistic that the lower weight classes may not actually be a total bore-fest
MWs are a bit less confidence inspiring. Neon is the class of the field here again in terms of best-looking bot. Less weaponless wedges is nice, but there really shouldn't be any in a tournament where the whole point is buffing weapons to be super strong. HWs are mostly your standard tournament fare. Will be interesting to see how, if at all, the meta changes with the patch. I think I'm in with a reasonable shout in my heat. Nebula's gonna be the main threat but as long as I can get at least 1 or 2 hits on the side at some point in the match I think I can have it. Not outside the realm of possibility that he just controls me for the full 3 mins though. 400

I've made a couple of changes since I posted it. Added a pair of wedgelets (had to ditch the discs on the side of the drum to get the weight for it, but I think it looks fine without them) and also gave the teeth a bit more bite. Happy with how it looks and I think it could be really competitive now. |
