This is the thing, the last replica tournaments I recall (Replica Wars) were before IRL was even a thing - and since then people have been striving to push the limits on what they can get away with. It wouldn't be about making a decent replica. Even if you put checks on stuff, things like Shield described will still happen.

Agreed. Also, you might not lose sleep over it, but it is entirely irresponsible to not even try.
Irresponsible would be a word I'd use for more important real life decisions, but ok, if you wanna use it to describe losing interest in a 10 year old game's online tournament, go for it.
I'm just annoyed that people started crying everytime a new IRL/Robot Wars style tournament popped up, but as soon as I started a DSL-S one like people want, it doesn't even fill after 2 months, whereas RedAce's new IRL tournament for a weightclass that nobody even builds got filled in a day.
I'll get bash out the videos in the next couple of days, as I'm not at work until Wednesday. Was hoping to get some useful stuff done in that time, but apparently I'm irresponsible.

If you want another additional entry I'll whip up something but getting all passive-agressive at a mod who is merely trying to make a tournament move forward is pretty bad form in there.
It is irresponsible in the eyes of the community to tell "hey i'll make a tournament", then not deliver. (And yes, I know, I did that). Maybe not in your own eyes, but it doesn't matter.
Your gripes may be legit but no need to go attack someone completely unrelated over it.
If you want to abandon that then say it... or continue the tournament forward.
As soon as people stop having a go at me for stuff that doesn't matter, I'll stop having a go at them.
I think a few of you need to learn that some people have more important BLOOP going on than this website.
Such 'having a go'. I called you irresponsible for starting something and then not following through on it. So in the eyes of the community, yes, that is irresponsible. Starting a tournament is something, a responsibility if you will, that you take onto yourself. You chose to do it. So don't get angry at me when I call you out for not following through on it. 09 gave you a getout option. If you're that busy, take it.

If you completely disagree, may I hear your reasons? Replica tournaments have been run before but the winners are rarely fair because it basically comes down to whoever optimizes their bot best for ra2, which generally means being less faithful to the original.

Because over-efficiency of components has really stopped people using Judge bursts, Hworf blades, coating their bots in beaters etc.

Stock LW
Everyone will be able to enter up to 18 entries. Single elimination, best 1 of 1 matches for sanity's sake. Except for the final match, which is best 5 of 9. The tournament continues until there is only one bot left. Last bot standing is the winner. Really strightforward guys. NO restrictions on bot quality, come one come all etc.
GENERAL RULES -You know what "stock" means. No BFE, AAM, Hax Mode, cheatbot2, Thyrus Glitch, Text Editing... etc -Any and every non-cheatbot2 component included with the 1.4 version of stock is 100% legal, this includes the 140cm extenders, all AI parts, and the snapper II -Your bot must show some sort of controlled movement (I will be testing for this, but I am generally lenient about it), 1WD bots and crawlers are fine, given they use a melty brain with controlled movement or can move forward. -Failing the controlled movement test will result in any infringing entries being rejected, you must replace your entry after with something more stable/controlled. -Smartzones do not count as weight if it pushes your robot above the weight limit. -Once accepted, you are allowed to update/change your team ONCE and only ONCE. Updating a single bot counts as updating your team, so be careful! -Of course, adding bots to your team, or replacing an invalid bot doesn't count as updating your team. If you explicitly say that you want a sent bot to replace another bot on your team, that IS a update. -Any obvious attempts to counteract or otherwise exploit a loophole in the rules will be automatically DQ'd (example: sending 18 of the same bot, Chris). -Multibots are allowed, even though there is no reason to build a LW multibot. -While replicas, IRL bots, and intentionally poorly built bots clearly built below the builders skill level ("jokebots") will be accepted (given they follow the rules), they will be marked in purple in the signups, and will be removed if signups fill completely.
HAVOK RULES: -Occasional, minor havok is counted as controlled movement as long as it is not constant (i.e. you cannot turn without going airborne). -If your bot is suspected of causing a game-altering havok, the match will be restarted once. If it happens again during the match, the offending bot will be ELIMINATED IMMEDIATELY, no exceptions.
-Max limit is 256 entries. -My entries are:
The arena will be the Small Arena (Small... arena with no OOTA potential, and no hazards). The arena for the finals will be the Epic Showdown arena (circular arena with poles along the edges and OOTA potential)

Stock -Stock LW bots weigh no more 249 blah blah -BBEANS V2 Arena -2 Minute matches -Unrealistic so Snapper loading, stacking, and all of that good stuff is allowed -BFE, AAM, Hax mode, Thyrus glitch, and etc. are Not allowed. -Go crazy with the Cheatbot 2 components -Havok Rule doesnt apply unless it changes the outcome in which case 1st time you are warned and 2nd time you are DQ'ed -Matches will be recorded with either Bandicam or ZD soft which ever one works better. -You can AI as you please and I have experience AI'ing but don't complain or cry about it if I don't do it perfectly.
General Rules -12 max entries -Each robot will fight against all the rest so 11 fights guaranteed per bot -Standings will be kept track of via the almighty challonge -Top 6 of the standings after round robin is done advance to the playoffs -Top 2 seeds get a bye 3 will play 6 and 4 will play 5 -I will be entering no matter which one gets selected

I know I said about Tommy should be a Veteran and found out why he couldn't be but I think he should be an Advanced User. That was proved by the like of Eleven, Twn Twrn, Hypno-Disc, The house robots that he replicated and all his skinning work all the Battlebots pack work.
Far too soon. Some members have had to do many times that workload to get a nose in - see Mr AS. With time it will definitely be an option, I imagine.

Thanks, unfortunately all it does is look cool at the moment since it went on a short flight that ended in smoke a few weeks ago.

Yessir! I remember that thing, I built that thing like four years ago haha!
I always thought that bot was so cool, definitely one of my favorite robots to this date!

I've finally decided to host my own tournament.

RULES: -DSL 2.1 -IRL Style Building -Beetleweight Robots -16 Entrants -One entry per person -I'm willing to AI if you are not able to, but don't complain what I AI'd your bot -You cannot enter unless your bot is received and entered -You cannot try to find loopholes in the rules
BUILDING RULES: -Beetleweight bots only (125.1-175.0 kg) -You can only these use in game glitches: eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading and Snapper Loading -No AAM, Trov Glitch, NCR Glitch, Thyrus Glitch, etc. -You can BFE the chassis height, but no other methods of Out-of-game editing -Bots must show 2 wheels or more for controlled movement -No cheatbot2 parts, Custom parts, etc. -No scuttlers, crawlers or walkers -Multibots are banned -No unrealistic weapon sizes and quantities -Jokebots are not allowed (This includes bots that have dumb names such as "Bot with Spikes") -You can upgrade your robot or send a new one as much as you like until signups end
BATTLE RULES: -2 minute length matches -1 vs. 1 match format -Single Elimination Bracket -Small Arena (Hazards off) -If a robot havoks once, that bot will get a free restart, if it happens again, the bot will be disqualified -Judging will be determined by the amount of points at the end of the match
