174.2, DSA, 2 pinks, Redbird drive.

It also has a weird problem where it when I try to turn left, it turns right, and vice versa, but when I drive forwards and turn left, it turns left and when I turn right, it turns right. Anyone know why this is happening?

I'm kinda a sucker for hammers. I don't really have a reason why.

Bump. (Sorry.)

I have one question to ask for Kurt and playzooki: Do you want the same bot used in the initial battles or have new bots for the title?

As long as you don't put Shadow the Hedgehog music over the matches again I'm game
Alright then, deal. I don't know why I used that awful soundtrack anyway. I was thinking of putting the music from MMX into the matches, but what music would you prefer in the matches?

Edit: Changed my mind a bit here. Instead of making one 50kg boost for every round, I was instead thinking that every two rounds, the Mavericks get a 100kg boost to save some time. Should I do this though?

Okay, another idea popped in my head, so I guess I'll explain it to see what you think.

Robot Arena X: (Name WIP)

This tournament is supposed to be based off of Mega Man X, one game I absolutely love. The tournament itself will be a Stock MW 16-bot tournament. Here's the catch, I will have 8 Mavericks that will determine who goes to the eliminators, so I technically won't enter. Once you submit your entry, you can send the order of the Mavericks you wish to fight. Kind of like Trios of Terror except you send the entire order in one PM. In order to advance to the Eliminators, you need to survive the longest or beat them in the fastest time. The Mavericks will be one step ahead and will be upgraded between rounds, given an extra 50kg weight bonus on the bot type itself to gradually increase the difficulty. For example, If you choose the 400kg Popup bot first, the Hammer bot will get a boost in offenses or defenses using the 50kg weight bonus and it goes on until you face off against every Maverick. Once the Maverick round is done, the Eliminator rounds will take place and it will be straight forward from there with a double elimination 8-bot bracket to determine the champion.

Any questions?

Chatterbox / Re: How did you find GTM?
« on: October 28, 2014, 06:58:47 PM »
On-topic with my story with this site: I found out about GTM as I was following the BBEANS series. I found BBEANS2 rather late and I really wanted to join ever since BBEANS3 was going to signups, but I never got my chance. Later on when not too long after BBEANS5 I lurked more and more about the site, finding out a bit more information about it's history, like older AI packs. Then a few months after BBEANS6 ended, I made my account and about half a year later, I was in and out with it, but still active as a lurker. I think I'm getting a bit out of hand now, so I guess I'll stop now.

Contests / Re: Vote BOTM Nov 2014

Full Thoughts:

#1: Not bad, kinda boring though.
#2: Interesting idea for a splash. Execution however is kinda messed up.
#3: Very cool looking bot, even if it isn't Standard. Splash is kind lazy though.
#4: This bot is awful, but I bet whoever made this intended for it to be awful.
#5: Probably my favorite here. Cool looking bot, attractive splash, and it gets my vote.
#6: Meh. It's probably also intending to be a joke.
#7: A giraffe bot isn't going to win BOTM again. You failed at being J.
#8: I'm guessing it's an SnS, and I get some of the references it's trying to make. However, it's just messy.
#9: Bland, nuff' said.
#10: Pretty good bot, nothing too amazing about it.
#11: Cool bot overall since it's pretty original. Only thing stopping it is boring splash.

Iron Awe 7 looks simply awesome. I love how detailed it is, also I am curious on how how high it can flip a bot with that pressure. Slightly off-topic, but I can't believe it's already been a year since you've started this. It's good to see how far you've gone with this and how dedicated you are. I applaud you.

Is DSL-S still a thing?

Also, I feel I'm doing something vaguely wrong and I don't know what that is.

No, the problem isn't it being an obvious clone.

Okay, it's been about a week after I made my cancellation announcement. However, there is some good news and bad news.

The good news is that I won't consider canceling this thing. The bad news is I may close the signups because of the lack of interest.

Any objections?

Welcome back, even though I don't even remember you.

For that kind of bot, here's some improvements I'd work on along with the others that have posted:

-Angle connectors aren't the most efficient way to build a bot since they only have one attachment point. Try to rotate the round extenders to a point where they used effectively, and use another round extender to attach the weapons and the plows.
-Don't use a separate burst motor for the self-righting mechanism. Use another extender that's longer which is more capable to help it get back on it's feet.
-Try to build until you reach the weight limit. Like attaching wedges on burst motors to help get a hold of your opponent, or try to attach something that will stabilize the bot so it doesn't jump around a lot when trying to attack.

Those are some of the major tips I can give to help improve this bot in particular. In case you are wondering on how you could improve your building skills, check out the Beetle Bros RA2 Building Techniques Site you can find right here:

http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm

It provides detailed tutorials on how to build a good bot in general and has tips that I have said, but it shows good examples on how my suggestions can work.

Hopefully, I have helped out.

Oh I'll be sending many robots to you. They might not all be in the same PM, but probably a good chunk of them.
