Also I feel like Most Unique Bots and Best Bot Designer can be the same award.
I'd argue for a split, for example you could have a builder who builds loads of whacky bots that haven't been seen before, but the quality isn't the best; and this person could beat out someone who doesn't build "unique" bots, per say, just really well built variants of existing bot categories.
^Agreed^

Also, don't remove some the tournament awards. It gives at the entire community at least a chance to win something in my humble opinion.

For new awards, how about the "Member that people were hoping to return and did" award or something like that?

« on: December 11, 2014, 06:50:55 PM »
A few battleshots from that LW VS I made last night.

And I know this is outdated but...

I want someone to build a LW VS that can take on Accretion Disk. Please.

AND I FINALLY BEAT THAT DAMN THING AFTER ABOUT 67 FAILED ATTEMPTS!

*Ahem* Caps lock aside, I decided to try my hands at that challenge, so I cloned Accretion Disk, AI'd it, then made that VS. That was incredibly difficult because not only does SnS > VS in battles, but it's luck-based to see if Accretion Disk decides to let it's chassis go near my weapon, so I can safely attack it while it's not spinning at gyroscopic speeds and even let it's chassis get hit to KO itself. But I finally did it, even if it was a fluke.

Fun Fact: That was actually my second time beating it since the screenshot doesn't show the status message.

Steel 1, 3 ants, and the rest should be visible.

I'm not too sure on this, but looking at the txt files, power or elecMaxInOutRate were the closest things I found to adjust the speed.

At BW, I think you go either full glass cannon and make a CF extender shell or don't go with flails at all.
Actually, I do remember Urjak using CF extenders with flails just for the AW.

I probably will rebuild my BW to get a few extra flails.

(And yours, RedAce, I seriously haven't had chance.)
Actually that's a good thing you didn't. I just checked the AI line, and I screwed up the AI it needs to use. I'll send a new one that actually works this time. :dumb)

I haven't built beetleweights in a while. I'm feeling I'm kinda...

Yeah. Plastic 3 and 2 ants.

Also this:

Generic, I know. Plastic 3, (I think) 3 ants, copal drive, and piglet for the weapon.

How do I sign up, exactly?
Well, Craaig made a tutorial for this a long time ago whish helped me out.

1. Read the requirements of the tournament you wish to enter, noting weight class, game type and any restrictions.

2. Built a bot suitable to these requirements.

3. Leave the botlab, and in Team HQ, click the robot once, and then press export.

4. The bot will be exported to the 'Robot Designs' folder of your RA2 folder.

5. Put the .bot file into a .zip file - most Windows OS can make .zip folders.
-ALTERNATIVE: Use winRAR to put the file into a .rar file. After installing the free winRAR (http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm) program, right click the .bot file, and click 'Add to *botname*.rar'.

6. Go to the GTM File Host (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/page,page4749.html) and upload the .zip or .rar file you just created.

7. The uploader will give you a line of code. Select this code, right-click and copy.

8. Go to the tournament signups page (ENSURE THE TOURNAMENT IS IN THE SIGNUPS STAGE FIRST, AND NOT DISCUSSION, AND ALSO THAT IT IS NOT FULL) and click the message icon (Image removed from quote.) to send the host (the first poster, who runs the tournament) a personal message.

9. In this personal message, right-click and paste the code from earlier. Add any relevant information if you feel necessary, remembering to state why you are sending it in either the subject or message.

10. Send the message, and hope it all goes well! :D

Edit:
Actually, Craaig made a newer tutorial which has a few different steps, but it's just as simple. You can find it here.

How about the Parking Lot Arena? Literally nobody is there to watch anything.

Probably shouldn't be predicting characters, but how about Juan from Guacamelee?

Thank you very much Craaig, and now...

Signups are now open for the taking.

They'll close when the completely fill, but if they don't, even with the secondary signups, Emergency will be the bye-bot for the matches.

My summary:

Panzer Strike: It looks okay. It's well armored, so that could help.

Roboenza: I don't remember if the spinning blade spins fast enough, so that could be my downfall.

Trinity 4ce: Love the look of this one. It also looks dangerous.

EBony: Very much Electric Boogaloo in this bot.

Playzooki Multibots: Eww. Left one looks better, yet both look half-assed in terms how their built.

Axe Bot: Another cool looking bot.

Android: Seen this one before, but with a different name.

Gamo: Not the worst thing I've ever seen, yet it looks decent.

Overall, about half the entries look awesome, but will they fight as good as their looks? Only time will tell. Good luck guys!

Basically Speed Demon with NPC Norms. Plastic 3, 3 ants.

Sadly, whenever this the wedge hits something it doesn't like, it havoks everywhere. Also:

I remember Max made a tutorial not so long ago. You have to build a tall chassis, put the motor in, then BFE it so the chassis goes below the motor. That's what I remember anyway.
That's the way I did it. I believe I asked about it for one of my first bots to do it somewhere in this showcase.

Edit: And to answer this question you may have:

How do ya edit chassis height?
