Tournament Archives / Re: Deathmatch 5 - Signups Closed!
« on: October 26, 2019, 05:25:51 PM »
I have received Same Dud's entrant.  It is accepted.

Unless I have missed anything, Signups are officially closed!

Now this might take me a bit of time to get the SBV up and ready, but I hope to at least get it ready pretty soon.  No hard date as of now, but hopefully I won't make anyone wait long.
Really looking forward to it man! No doubt it'll be another good one

I ain't done yet, I've got another bomb to drop

09 cheated in double man and gave his bot invincible armor
This is why team flipper should retroactively be given the win tbh

Also shoutout to still managing not to win the tournament with an invincible bot

I like it as usual Neon. I do think you should try BFEing the chassis down slightly to be fully flush with the panelwork, though it may expose the motors slightly.

I'd also consider using the coloured drums. I'm not one of those guys who thinks every single component needs to have coloured variants, but I think in this scenario a drum which matches the colour scheme of the rest of the bot would look pretty snazzy

I’d recommend using a bar instead of a flywheel, tbh. It might not look as good, but flywheels tend to get sideswiped a lot easier.
I've been using discs for a pretty long time without too many issues. I much prefer them aesthetically speaking over bars too so I'm gonna stick with a disc

Your spinner supports don't actually support the motor axle so won't be legal in IRL tournaments. You can refer to the guide in my signature to see examples of proper weapon supports (You'll need component freedom to do them)

That bot looks really good! I'm not sure about the wedge effectiveness tho. Anyways it's good to see a bit more of an unconventional vert.
The entire goal of this thing was pretty much to not rely on a wedge. The idea was to try to do something similar to death roll and just lift opponents up with the weapon itself. The wedge edge is mostly just there for aesthetics sake, and I've considered removing it.

Looks fine. You need the same on the bottom of you don't have it already though

I made some changes to Bored Again for DM5

-NPC Fast have been downgraded to just NPC Normals as I felt it was unnecessary for a 2 wheeled horizontal.
- L.E.D.S have been removed for weight distribution.
-FlatMotor replaced by Perm132
-Disc has been sized down
-Bottom panel covers the entire bottom

Those supports don't look like they actually support the weapon axle at all
So I need supports on the top to?
You need the supports to actually touch the weapon axle. Yours don't extend far forward enough

Did some work on it.

- Changed the perm mounting to both shuffle it forward a bit and also lower it down a tad
- Added drums to somewhat cover the perm
- Moved the teeth to an SD style setup with the 4 smalls arranged in a pseudo 2-tooth setup

Think it looks a fair bit better

it's got the wedge edges on the front you cheater

Pretty solid overall tbh, if you are trying to make the motor look less sticking out, maybe cover it with a drum?  It might look a bit ugly, but if you can make it work then more power to ya.
I considered a drum but 2 things made me decide against it. The first is that even the largest drum doesn't fully cover a perm 132, and the second is that it'd still have the dumb hump which is the main thing that makes it ugly currently.

There's been some talk about the merits of wedges on VSes lately in some of the discords and I wanted to try making a wedgeless vert that was actually competitive. This is the result. The perm sticks out like a sore thumb unfortunately which is my main issue with this thing, but other than that I'm fairly happy with it. That said, it's also probably lacking in battery life as I just could not find anywhere to put batts (I have the spare weight for more batts as I'm currently sitting at 770ish KG, but just not the space) So it has 3 ants and a battlepack for 3 spin motors + a srimech. I'll probably make a version with a perm 80 instead of a perm 132 just for visuals sake, but since the goal of this was to try to make a wedgeless vert competitive, I'll stick with the 132 for now despite it looking pretty dumb.

The old wheelguards were way cleaner IMO.

HQ video attached below

Based on the Alfa Romeo Racing C38. Alu 10, 798ish kg. Feedback welcome as I'm not totally happy with it but not sure where to go from here.
My only real issue is that gap between the wheelguards and the chassis where the drive motors poke out. I think it would look a lot cleaner if you filled that with an extender so the wheelguards flowed seamlessly into the chassis

Sup guys. Looking at an idea for a tournament in which there's regional qualifiers.

Just wanted to get an idea of how each pool would look, so if you can, leave your region below. Thanks!

if he's actually going to be running the overvolting mod then I can kind of understand the lower burst/weapom caps
It wasn't that the burst limits were lower that I found weird, it was the fact that no distinction was drawn between an extra short/ front hinge VDMA with 120 power, and a wide VDMA with 300 power.
either I'm retarded (which I am) and can't find it or he's removed the rulings on bursts
Yeah he removed it.

Previously it said this

I think burst limits absolutely need to be a thing, but I do think the ones you had there were pretty weird. The 1 VDMA limit in particular was odd to me. A front hinge VDMA only has 120 firing power, where a long VDMA has 300, and this made no distinction between them and instead just limited them both to 1.

Same thing applies to the storm burst, which is straight up banned. It only has 250 firing power, where a 300 firing power burst would have been legal with those initial burst limits you had
