First Bot dump of the new year.Quick note about Dee M8 I think I might make him a Cluster bot and have another one with an inverted colour scheme.Feed Back and advice is appreciated
[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

DeeM8 - Rather bland. I would recommend 1, adding more heavy weapons on the end of the tail, other than that it's ok.
KingE - Again ok, rather boxy though, Id recommend sorting out the front end, it looks rather boxy, and Im guessing it doesn't lift much as I don't see many countweights on the other side of the arm. And work on making it less boxy
Unoriginal Sin - Like the body of the bot, but I don't like the wedge setup you have, I'd recommend making it one solid wedge and making it more shallower. Other than that, not bad
Barbie - Looks cool. Cant really comment on the rest. Maybe to fix the slowness either motor upgrade or up the wheels to something more grippy, you can probs loose the spike strips in you need to loose the weight for it.
NeoDrummer - Very nice, still I recommend you use that 10-15kg by either increasing armour or protecting the flat motors.
D.E.F - Needs front armour, anything with a longer reach will wreck it. Not bad otherwise, but the mech disc is a bit eh.

You really need to show insides of bots it'll allow us to give better feedback than just a photo with some notes.

I keep meaning to post this and always run out of time after browsing, but your creations are all impressive, Hoppin! A couple of them that you've posted in the Exchange have been really entertaining to play around with and they all look unique too.

As someone who hit kind of a rut in the game where I felt I wasn't meeting my own standards of building but still enjoyed playing to a degree, I really appreciate that there are still people uploading to the exchange and posting in their showcases to keep the game fresh and fun for lurkers like myself! :)

Thanks man, really means a lot. In a rut myself... but now atleast I made something new, sort of

Xeniii - 3rd rebuild of Xeni
Was able to have 2 eteks for the weapon this time, instead of using the dual axle one. Chassis is actually DSA. 795.5

And here's it against the 2nd version

So I made a kind of generic drum spinner.
10 plastic armour, can't self right and the drum doesn't seem to hit that well or do as much damage as I though. It gets stuck a lot and runs out of battery towards the end of most fights... apart from that it's great

Any thoughts on how to address any of these issues would be great!

There are many things that need improving on this design.
1. Not invertable/no shrimech - Depending on how you'd like to set it up, I'd look at real life drums or egg beaters. Hogoblin, Mandii & Tourus Maximus are examples.
2. The body itself can use a re-shape, the wheels sticking out like that looks quite frankly ugly, not only that I also believe that you can certainly make the chassis more compact. This will also give you extra weight to armour up the chassis
3. The drum - the beaters are a waste of weight, they look as though they won't hit anything, whilst I like the effect you're going for with the teeth I recommend using extenders as they keep the weight down. Either that or just use beaters.
4. Wedges - you will not out wedge anything. And they look horrible due to the fact they seem rather stuck on and have no flow to the machine. To create an effective wedge you want to hinge the wedge using the metal hinge or skirt hinge
5. Flatmotors - These motors are the best for creating a drum, found in the Cheatbot2 menu (rename your bot cheatbot2 to access it
6. Wider - Drums are effective due to the large frontal area that they cover. Make yours do that

Recommendations in general:
Space management - It appears you have design the chassis first then placed your components in. I would consider redesigning the bot the other way round. Really think about how you want the bot to perform and the components you'll be using before you start creating.
Look at some other builders bots for good ideas - Lurking is great to gain solutions and ideas for your bots, KillerTurtleG and Virus Bomb have both made beautiful Drum bots that I would highly recommend taking a look at.
Using panels - Try to protect the chassis as much as you can, using plates and extender, this can get a bit advanced but I recommend trying to get to grips with it. Start off by making front wedges with the panels and then go from there.

The axe bot - Whilst I like it, I believe there are a few improvements to be made, I would recommend using a geared beta, it would really give a big punch to the weapon. The tail can also be improved, try to get it more in flow with the body. But overall not a bad attempt.

Hope I could provide some help, sorry if the long block of text seemed overwhelming

The wedges on the front look rather out of place, mainly due to the difference in colour. The crusher is whatever as the wheels look outta place and the wedge is a mess in itself. Plus it wont outwedge much.

Certainly nice, if maybe a bit bland due to the lack of colour.

what if we just post ra2 stuff on the ra2 forum instead of on ra2 discords  :really_makes_you_think:

also i have great news for you in the fact that mr as left the gtm discord after kill removed his mod powers when he gave his gtm account to lra2 lol

Discord gives the best feedback on bots, the forums provide 0 to very little.

I don't believe it's a case of toxic behaviour to each other. I believe it's more the case of both groups have no reason to communicate with the other and have nothing between them of interest

With the hammer bot. Use panels instead of creating it all with extenders that will free up enough weight you 1 give more weapons and 2 give it a wedge.

Firstly let me say it’s nice to have a conversation on this forum (about a hot topic) that isn’t an argument for once.

As far as the rules for IRL, I agree that due to the subjective nature of the meta it would be difficult to create rules to maintain entrants. However, apart from a few outsiders I often don't see ultra try-hard bots as the IRL player base seems to be rather self-moderating.
You won’t see that when people start going for the gold on a regular basis. It'll mutate fast, albeit not in a instant. That or all of the combat efficient idea will get banned and so sometimes you won't even be able to send fair versions of those bots, discouraging innovation and new ideas in the process.

As long as you can contain the blatant abuse of OP parts I think having an IRL section of this would be perfectly fine, see GTMCS2's IRL HW division as an example.
That hasn’t been finished yet. That hasn’t even been started yet.

I disagree with the first statement as firstly, the host can regulate the borderline and objectively try-hard robots that are entered. Hence why I also brought up GTMCS2 as I feel that Badnik has created a solid set of rules to encompass this. And in regards to innovation and new ideas, I believe that players often find work arounds to limitations imposed on them, which intern can result in creative designs and new ideas.

That was due to the lack of IRL options. If there was a IRL choice I certainly believe people will be happy to partake

That a good idea but I think it won't work because nobody wants to cultivate a one-horse show. Having an IRL-wing for everything seems to only ever encourage this. Look at Bajur's International Wars tournament and count the amount of IRL entrants who showed zero interest in anything else. One might say this is justifiable IRL has is greatly diverged from DSL-S or stock. This gap would be used to explain why they are separate. I’d say they don't have any difference when you're building for combat (Ava’s butt-ugly Challenge Belt robots show this). Even if the old traditional styles and DSL-IRL had some unmanageable contrast, that doesn’t matter as people still built in Stock and DSL-S when they had significant differences.

Until DSL-IRL can be properly integrated with Ra2, I don't predict intermingling will be common.

I understand that the gap in popularity between can lead to a wide range of entrants between metas, I don't believe that that is a reason to disallow it. I see that as counter productive to the community.

I agree. I personally feel that a more formalised title system that was previously used would've been a better idea. As players were queuing up for that.

That little queue for the DSL-HW title came from ava’s E-Drama and it’s fallout IMO. Said drama is now long gone*.

Besides, a majority of interested users voted against the old system (10 against, 2 for, with 7 in favor of simplification), we'd probably be seeing more of the same. But I’d have multiple titles instead of one. Right now, the best thing to do is propose repairs to this system and test them. If the solutions fail, seek new systems.

*Unless I win again and some "lovely people" form a “BTFO Dreamcast Squad.”

That was due to the lack of IRL options. If there was a IRL choice I certainly believe people will be happy to partake

Well all this organisation and controversy to have only 3 entries. 2 of which are yourself other the past 2 months. It just seems like it has very little to offer to the community for all the hassle that was put towards it.

The system has been ran in it's current state twice with poor results each time. However, I find it a bad idea to throw the baby out with the bath water.

P: System has problems
C: Therefore, any validity of the system

I don't follow, elaborate.
