Sweet.  I love how detailed it is  (I'm starting to notice some pattern going on here).  Also, what exactly does "TopPusher.py" do that is used specifically for Apollyon?  Besides the hinge.

Discussion / RedAce's Livestreaming Display Tournament Thing (Idea)
« on: December 08, 2015, 12:04:43 PM »
To give a bit of backstory on why I hope to do this, is that kill343gs is (possibly) hosting a dedicated RA2 League that might be a livestreaming tournament.  For those unaware, kill has hired three hosts, Sage, yugitom, and myself.  I bet some of you know this already, especially if you are in the GTM Skype chat, but I am planning on doing a small short double elimination tournament to test my livestreaming capabilities in preparation for the real deal.  Before I even attempt such a thing, I would like some input:

- Do you care what game type of tournament it is? (Like Stock, or DSL-S for example)
- Would anyone care to join along and help with some, akin to something like what helloface did with HFT4?
- If I do actually try this out, would any livestreaming experts assist me on the ropes of this? (I have never attempted this and I don't want to look like a fool.)

I appreciate all input you may have, and if you do want to ask any questions to me, please speak up, and I will answer to the best of my ability.  Also, assuming everyone is cool with the commentary idea, then let me know if you would like to join please.  Thanks.

(I also hope this is the right place to put this topic.  I feel display tournaments are for actual tournaments that are ready to go for recording.)

It would be interesting to see a console release, I mean hey, most builders I know who drive their bot use an Xbox 360 or PS3 controller, but I can imagine building would be a bit of a pain in the ass.

But all I ask for RA3 is similar to what I hope the next Sonic game to be.  A good game that's fun to play and I can replay for a long time.

Alright, let's actually take a look at these bots and predict:

Mace Swinger: Odd chassis, but with the amount of weapons, it might hit or miss.

Robo Disco: Eh, it's more like a Robo-Tango since it's slow and is meant to take on HS.  Which it will fight after my first match no matter what I do.

Planet Bob: Generic LW Popup, but it might fare well depending on the amount of weapons and if it has good control of itself.

Slight Prick: Dual HPZ HS with no frontal protection.  Might spell disaster.

Memories: I don't get the symbolism if there is any, but it might fend off those nasty HSes.

Waifu-Bot: Peach?  Interesting choice.  But the bot itself is eh.

Turn Down For What: Not a single VS here, that might help this bot go far.

butt: I like the idea behind this, but one good hit on those motors and it's dead.

Dark Matter: Considering how this bot did in Trios of Terror, it might have a good shot and actually show off whatit

it sucks: Well if you say so, I guess I'll take your word for it.  :P  Nah, just kidding.  It might take do well against some of the HSes.

SnowBallz: Child's Play IV masochist edition.  I'm serious, or at least for me if I had to do that crazy stack.  On the bright side, it might do really well.

Messsynesss: Looks a bit like a havok bomb, that's not a good sign.

Parlay: A bot that's built for HS, which I see a lot of here, so this could go well for this one.

DEATHGASM: It looks tough, but that's all I can think of when I see this.

Astraphobia 2: Without SnS tactics, this might be kinda garbage and not go far.

Overall, lots of generic designs.  I mean almost half the entrants are HSes.  Which is good for efficiency, but bad for variety.  Ah well, good luck guys.

I like that.  It's cleverly built

You can give me suggestions for pokemon I could build
Just Craaig or anyone?  If it's the latter, I'd like to see your take on a Ludicolo or a Salamence.

Damn it, I probably should've sent in that Popup countering VS instead of that slow poker.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm still waiting on Lightning's fix, if he has one.

Also, please enter.

Ah, never thought of putting the motor in and out of the chassis repeatedly.  The bot is nice.  It's like Child's Play IV approach with the look of that one bot NFX showcased way back when.  I'm impressed you got the weight for maces honestly.

Mmmm, I'm questioning that stacking there.  Show me the proof you did it on video (unedited) and I'll believe it.

Two bots in less than 24 hours?  Something isn't right.

I only wish I had better a back armor plate.  It gets ripped off way to fast, especially against those damn hworf blades.

I guess to post in the hype of DSL 2.2, I'll post some old DSL3 bot that I never bothered to show:

I know the skin is slightly off center, but the skin didn't want to be nice to me and wanted to make me work with an uncomfortable angle.

DP, Sage's bot is AI'd and ready to go.

I have received Lightning S's entry, but it is denied due to not having the chassis baseplate grid squares at 16.  I have notified him about this.

Nothing too spectacular, just some MW Poker/Wammer thing here.  It's not horrible, but its weapons break off very easily.

Cookie for anyone who can figure out what it's inspired by.  ;)

Also, Skype chat challenge mess:

It's supposed to be a Shell Spinner/Clamp hybrid.  I had to improvise for the Clamp since I had weight issues and the Rule of Seven getting the way.  How much does it suck?

It also needs a name.  Fire away.

Eh, I'd be willing enough to send a team or two in.  Might do that after I finish my Restocked and (possible) Starcore bots though.

Yeah, you might wanna change the description of STD vs Maka.

Also, I can't remember, was it Round L3 the one I returned for or the one after?
