I like this bot a lot. Are slim bodies fast in this version of dsl?
Not massively so but 6 of them are more than enough to get a CW along at decent speed. Didn't want to go mental on the drive even though I probably could have though because it's meant to be in the style of very early US Robot Wars machines.

New bot and my first non-extenderbot in a very long time. Designed to look/function like a bot from the original 1994-97 US RW so it's fairly basic in it's design but I'm rather happy with how it came out despite its simplicity. 573.2 KG, 6 slimbody drive. 2 battlepacks and an ant for power, and Alu10 chassis armour. i will hold up the torch and give feedback
good to see typhoon teeth on it so it can now actually do damage and flip bots over (which is one of my favorite parts about using big vertical discs)
about the self righting, if you were (now hear me out on this) to one up the discs size and raise it a little higher to compensate for it being a little bigger it would probably self right without fail, im saying this because thats what happened with ravager. (which is currently my best heavyweight although i haven't posted the updated version of it on my own showcase yet)
i one upped its disc and it immediately after that was able to self right almost instantly after it was turned oh and the fact that your using small typhoon teeth is even better because the disc will be less likely to stop when it hits the floor.
of course im saying all this while its right on the weight limit but from the looks of it its got armor panels all around it, what is the chassis armor?
if you were to take this suggestion on board you could lower the armor a little on the chassis to get enough weight of course you don't have too and can completely disregard the suggestion, completely up to you
Even if I were to raise the height of the disc I think it would still cut through some internals making it not IRL legal. Chassis armour wise even dropping it down to plastic 1 only gives me an extra 4KG-ish to play with due to the chassis being only a 1x1, which isn't really enough to enlarge the disc.

In keeping with my recent tradition of posting every single time I make an update to a bot in a vain attempt to get people to leave feedback, here's another update to The Apiarist. Decided it would benefit from bigger, more destructive teeth that are better at overturning opponents now that it actually has the motor power to do so, so I switched the 4 matilda teeth I had previously for 2 small typhoon teeth. Seems much more effective now, and also actually sometimes self-rights now too.

heyyy thats pretty goood
i like the color scheme and the design, kind of reminds me of the bat design-wise and i liked that bot
Cheers Badnik. Who made the Bat? Never heard of it so I'd be interested to see what it looks like.

Upped the weapon motor to a Perm 132 because it didn't actually look as bad as I thought it would and I could fit it by reshuffling the insides a bit. Now weighs 599.5KG so right on the CW limit, but should actually be slightly less underpowered now.

Thanks for the advice and feedback on the last bot everyone. Here's another. Rather underweight and underpowered CW based on a bee that was originally intended to be an MW but I couldn't get it in weight. This is The Apiarist. Vertical spinner powered by a perm 80, drive is 2 TWMR drives and it has 1 black and 1 ant for power. Armour is mostly Ti with the bottom being aluminium. 557.2 KG Pics: Exterior: Interior:

that moment when at first glance you think "cool rear hinged lifter* then see a front hinged version and your mind just fails to compute the possibility
I'm contractually obligated to make front hinged versions of all my bots if I can
well for that bot in particular im pretty sure it will make your life harder but im guessing its one of those why the f*ck not situations?
Not really. It was a fairly easy conversion, and the front hinge config is probably more effective due to the much better wedge and stronger drive too.
what i meant was the wedge looked too steep to be a front hinged flipper, although that may just be the picture making it look that way
It's fairly steep but it doesn't seem to have had too many issues ATM. I may make it shallower though yeah. Edit: Made some changes to make the wedge shallower. Think it actually looks better with a shallower wedge too, and it should also be more effective.

Actually found a spare moment between uni work and trying to sort out my tournament to build a new bot. Rather happy with how this one came out to be quite honest. This is Angstrom. 4WD flipper that initially started as an attempt to make a bot as low as possible but eventually morphed into this. Tailfins at the back are purely for show. Drive is 2 TWMR Drives and 2 TWM3s so its reasonably quick. Weight is 795.3 KG and the flipper is powered by a pair of medium VDMA R/P pistons. Wedge is all Ti, sides are beater bars and top and bottom are a mix of polycarb (purely because it looks cool) and Aluminium. Pics (now on white backgrounds!): Exterior: Interior: Edit: With a bit of rejigging of the internals I was able to make a front hinged version too. Smaller bursts for the flipper but it doesn't seem to have affected it. Also swapped the TWM3 drives for TWMRs so it's actually a little faster in this config. Even has a better wedge too. Did have to get rid of the T H I C C rear tyres though unfortunately. Pics: Exterior: Interior:

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] been holding this one away half finished in the bot lab for like half a year, i remember why i left it now after trying to find something to fit in where those angled wedge bits are its also 300kg lol oops
and then there's also this mess which i might aswell chuck in here [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] idk what to do with it to make it not trashy
Version 3 of DSCs packs have coloured wedgelets that should fit pretty well in there. Judging by the texture of the armour plates it looks like you're not using it already.
